The IM Series image dimension measurement system
is a completely new measurement system that performs
dimensional measurement with a simple
“Place and Press” operation.
It is now possible for anyone to measure quickly, accurately, and easily without the conventional worry of
variations in results.

The IM Series captures an image of the whole part using its ø100 mm high-accuracy telecentric optical
system and automatic XY and Z stage for image stitching of large parts and part auto-focus.
By obtaining an image of the whole part, the IM Series can utilise its advanced toolset to perform
hundreds of measurements in just a matter of seconds.
The procedure when conducting measurement consists of the following two steps:

How to reduce inspection time (2) = Place and press measurement that
eliminates the need for positioning
By simply placing the measurement target on the stage within the field of view and pressing the measurement
button, the position and angle of the target is detected from the pre-registered target image pattern, and
measurement is executed.
The detection range can support the full range of the field of view in 360°.
There is no need to prepare positioning jigs or to find the point of origin every time measurement is performed.

Improved yield rate
With the IM Series image dimension measurement system, there is no need for the operator to find
the point of origin or perform edge alignment. The border line (edge) between light and dark areas are
automatically detected to perform measurement, allowing for high-reproducibility regardless of the operator.
An edge detection area is defined over the area of interest of a part. Within this edge detection area,
multiple edge points (boundaries between light and dark) are detected at the subpixel level (in units at
or below 0.01 pixels). Over 100 edge detection points are then extracted upon which the least squares
method is used to find the best-fit line. This

The IM Series image dimension measurement system is calibrated in accordance with measurement references that have been defined by KEYENCE.
The standard that is used for calibration is outlined by Japanese national standards. At request, we will issue a certificate of calibration.

How to keep a management system = Data storage and statistics /analysis
The measurement results, which have been saved to the hard disk drive, can be browsed from the
[Statistics/Analysis] menu.
The measurement results have been automatically tagged with the date and time of measurement and it is
possible to enter lot numbers, making search easy. Cumulative data can be analysed at any time, making
it possible to respond instantly even when there are sudden requests for the submission of measurement
results.
It’s possible to automatically calculate a variety of statistics from measurement results that have been
specified after searching with arbitrary conditions. Individual measurement results and statistics values can
be output as reports. Also, the measurement results can be output in CSV format, making it possible to
perform statistical processing with PC applications.
