Technical Documentation guidelines

You can find herewith some generic information to simplify cunsulting of technical documentation:

1. Models of same range share the same exploded views, which report the richest set of spare parts:generally, a model does not necessarly have a
related spare part for each particular shown on exploded views.

2. Some spare parts can not be represented directly on the exploded views (instruction booklets, specific kit, etc...). You can find those codes in the
spare parts list with the same reference of particular where spares are installed or with references 099, 999. Instruction booklets, once managed,
appear with 000 reference.

3. On the higher right site of each exploded view there is a serial number which indicates the beginning of the production of certain range:some
models might have more than an exploded view for a given category, each distinguished by a different serial no.and linked to another spare parts
list, In this case, serial no. is required to supply the right spare part code. Exploded view to be considered is the one with a more recent serial no.
but previous than the one of the model that needs assistance.

4.Exploded views might require further updates even after publishing. Addition of new spares will go on following the already existing numeration
references. Revision number of an exploded view is shown into last four digits of serial number into upper right hand corner.

5.The spare parts list associated to an exploded view shows related codes of spares managed for a certain model; for each spare part other
informations are available:

REF: reference no of spare into a table; SUBSTITUTE: list of spare(s) which can replace a code but that keeps same functional characteristics

INDUSTRIAL CODE: list of variables of a model (shown into model label) where such spare is used; NOTICE: code of information(s) to refer to
complete technical intervention, track for changes or to find correct spare part code.

6. Some notices, into a same section are generic therefore cannot be directly linked to a spare part. In order to assist a model in the best way as
possible, it is helpful to pay attention to all notices and constantly verify documentation updates

Doors / weather stripping combined fridges / freezers Aristin/2001 Melano

On all the combined fridge and freezer models in the Ariston (range 2001), width 600 mm produced in Italy (Melano), the doors handled as
replacement are without weather stripping because this is no longer blocked between door and counter-door.

The weather stripping has a new profile and is located in the housing resulting along the external perimeter of the counter-door, where it is
threaded through by simple hand pressure. To remove the weather stripping it will suffice to unthread it from its housing without any other
operation.

Therefore in case of replacement of the door the weather stripping may be recovered from the existing door, however the weather strips are
handled singularly as a spare part.

Replacement of NTC sensors on latest generation of "cold product line" models
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(KRF 310VE - KRF330VE - KRF310VNFE - KRF330VNFE), including the new combo appliances in the Indesit-2000 range (C238 e C240), Ariston-
2001 (MBA3831-4031- 4231 ; MBA3841 - 4041) on static or no-frost "cold product line" models of the latest generation electronic version, the NTC
sensors cannot be replaced because they are blocked within the cabinet. This decision is due to the low faultiness of the component and to the
high guarantees of operation in foam-insulated environments.

The exceptions to the aforementioned are the upright Ariston electronic 600 mm wide freezers, rounded aesthetics, Ariston models EUP300XEU -
EUP350XEU - TUP300XOM (including deriving versions) where the sensor can still be replaced in the event of a fault.

Where the replacement of the product is deemed necessary by the probe defect, then it is important to closely check that the problem is
determined by the probe and not by the electronic card.

In order to check the correct operation of the probe it is possible to measure the resistance of the wiring harness terminals that must present the
following values :

- temperature of + 20 °C = about 2.000 ohm (air probe at environment temperature)

- temperature of + 5 °C = about 7.000 ohm (fridge air probe)

- temperature of - 18 °C = about 23.000 ohm (freezer air probe)

Also, in a less technical manner, replacing each probe on the electronic card (at room temperature) in a "steering" manner, checking the
elimination of the problem (if the compressor starts the probe is defective).

N.B. the probes are identifiable by their coloration (marking) placed on the probe and its wiring harness :

-fridge evaporator probe (black marking)

-fridge air probe (brown marking)

-freezer air probe (white marking)

-freezer evaporator probe (no-frost) end of defrost (light blue marking).

Solenoid valveBytron-510 for combined products Ariston-Indesit of series 2000

From the half of July 2001 the production of Melano is using on the combined products Ariston and Indesit, belonging to series 2000, a new three-
way solenoid valve - model Bytron-510 to 220-240V 50/60Hz for gas R134A and R600A.

There is only an exception for the models Ariston with display, which continue to use the solenoid valve Elbi 368.

The new solenoid valve Bytron- 510 has the same technical and working features of the preceding one (Elbi 368), although it is built up differently
because for the following reasons:

1) The body on plastic with four fixing-points (two for sides): at first it was metal only with a fixing-point.

2) The location of the three tubes (at first they were on the same right side with the central entry) now are subdivided in this way: two of them are
on a side (long-entry and short-exit for the freezer-evaporator) and one of them is on the opposite side (the other exit for the refrigerator-
evaporator).

Moreover, the external diameter of tubes was 4 mm, and now it is 3 mm.

3) The probable bending of tubes and their length, although they are different between the two solenoid valves, are not binding for the assembly.

During the assembly on the product (left side of the compressor-zone) its location/fixing is not changed excepting for the type of nail 4x15 for the
model Elbi-368 and of 2,9x9,52 for the model Bytron-510.

Moreover a new molecular filter 078983 is used to couple with the 3mm entry-tube (at first on the model Elbi-368 the filter 064790 was installed to

be coupled with the 4mm entry-tube).

As spare part, only the solenoid valve Elbi-368(075616) will be managed and in the case of its use instead of the Bytron-510, also the molecular
filter (078983) will be substituted with the other one (064790) because of the problem of the diameter of tubes.

P.S. We have to remember that, apart from the kind solenoid valve, the tube with the white little sign has to be connected to the capillary of the
refrigetor-evaporator marked with white paint.

Moreover to understand better the difference, two images have been made (NT005400 and NT005500) relating to the solenoid valves, on which
the location of tubes has been underlined with the numbers (1-2-3):

1) capillary for refrigerator-evaporator (exit)

2) molecular filter (entry)

3) capillary of freezer-evaporator (exit)

Chiller tub insulation for condensation elimination.

From the month of July 2001 (registration no. 0702.0001) the Melano production applied insulation in the form of expansive polyethylene
(260x430x5) with an adhesive side under the chiller tub, in order to avoid the formation of condensation.

To resolve the problem on pre-modification models that in use would present formations of condensation in the chiller tub, it is possible to request
the insulation using the code 083772.

In future the kit 083773 constituted by a chiller tub and insulation will be handled in spare parts.

Magnetic switch on combined electronics Ariston-Indesit range - 2000
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On combined electronic models ( Ariston and Indesit, range 2000 ) on the base of the door's dashboard of refrigerator, there is a magnetic switch
assembled (075612) with a rectangular shape that must be inserted on the appropriate hole in the narrow side (the position is compulsory for the
stop and the correct function of the product).

The missing of the magnetic switch can cause the following inconvenient with open or closed door:

-If the product has being lit for more than 3 minutes and if magnet is missing, the lamp flashes (if is not broken) as soon as the door opens.

So, in case of substitution of the fridge door, to avoid this inconvenient, together with the dashboard and the moulding, the magnetic switch must
always be rescued.

From the end of July the production Dpt. will supply as spare parts the fridge doors of combined electronics, already included with the magnetic
switch.

(Anyway please verify always its presence).

Electronic Card 081843 for combined products Ariston of the Series 2001 (models MBA 384 - 404 with display)

From September-01 (registration number 10917.0001) the production of Melano is using on the combined products Ariston Series 2001 - models
with displays (e.g. MBA3841C - MBA4041C), the electronic modified card 4080.02.200: the begin of this production is the 36th week.

This card is built up in the instrument panel of the piece of furniture and it "dialogues" with the card of the display, built up on the door.

The last version has to be used on the pre-modified models in case of substitution of the card 4080.02.200, because only the card of the last
version is resolutive.

Only the modified cards (of the 36th, 37th week etc.) with the code 081843 will be managed from the spare parts' stores in Fabriano (Italy), Setubal
(Portugal), Basse Ham (France) and Corby (England); the preceding ones have not to be used.

Command Terminal board display on combined Ariston - 2001 (models MBA384 and 404)

From the month of October-2001 (registration no. 1008.0001) the Melano production plant modified casement of the commands terminal board, on
display models, due to electrical interference to the electronic card (electrostatic discharges).

The old casements were in shiny polyester (aluminum or white color) and comprised a chromed border for both colors.

The new casements are in PVC with white a border for the aluminum color, and aluminum for the white color.

The commands terminal board handled as a spare part is complete of new casement and keys cover.

The commands terminal boards 082014 and 081850 handled at the Fabriano, Basse Ham, Setubal and Corby warehouses have been checked
and reclaimed eliminating all old versions with the chromed border.

New superior pivot hinge Ariston combined with Display

From the month of February 2002 (reg. No. 20207.0001) the Melano production has modified, on the electronic Ariston-2001 combinations with the
display, the pivot of the hinge because the latter interfered with the wiring, which is lodged in the superior hinge, causing the breakage of the
internal filament. Consequently, when it is necessary to substitute the wiring (081844) on the pre-modified models it will be also be necessary to
change the pivot of the superior hinge with the new (see figure NT007500). When reassembling the wiring (081844) pay attention that it does not
get trodden by the hinge and that it will be positioned around the pivot leaving it soft and not rigid (see figure NT007600).

These cards solve the faultiness found in use in the last period December-January-February- 2002 concerning drawing of the electrovalve.

To temporarily solve the problem, production initially included a resistance in parallel (22000 ohm), however, if this solution is not definitive, on
these models it will also be necessary to replace the card with the new version, which gives the start of production date as week: 02-2002 / 03-
2002 / 06-2002.

The following cards managed as a replacement at the warehouses of Fabriano - Corby - Basse Ham - Setubal - Manisa have all been removed
and replaced with those for controlling the electrovalve:

New Bitron-510 solenoid valve on combined refrigerator-freezers (Melano-Carinaro

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve was already used in July 2001, for a short period of time, by the Melano production (see note N1030026). At that
time, it was decided not to manage it as spare part in place of the Bitron/Elbi 368 item.

Now, seeing that it is being used in the Melano (November 2002) and Carinaro (March 2003) factories, it has been decided to manage it as spare
part, in place of Bitron/Elbi 368.

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve can also be fitted on premodification models using the KIT that includes the molecular filter.

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve used in the Melano factory is not interchangeable with the one used in the Carinaro factory because the tube
bending is different.

For Melano, this modification affects Opera-60 Ariston combined refrigerator-freezers and the Indesit 2000-2002 range from serial no. 21111.0001;

for Carinaro, it affects Ariston built-in combined refrigerator-freezers 2002 range, from serial no. 30323.000.

N.B. Please remember that the tube marked with adhesive tape is the one that must be connected to the capillary tube (marked with the varnish) of
the refrigerator evaporator, whichever the type of solenoid valve used.

Modification of freezer doors on Ariston Opera-60 combined fridge-freezers (cond

In March 2003 the Melano factory started using freezer doors with modified handle on the Ariston Opera-60 combined fridge-freezers (models MB-
MBA-MBAA), in order to eliminate the problem of condensation.

The grip width has been reduced (from 28.5 to 22.7 mm) on these doors, as indicated by the dimension (A) in the figure (N1030059FIG1).

These freezer doors are already available as replacements and a coloured label on the packing distinguishes them from the previous ones. This
will be done until stocks of premodification doors run out.

The door C00089881 offers approx. 10% more insulation than the door C00081997.

Upper hinge modified on Ariston Opera-60 fridge-freezers with Display
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In October 2003 (serial no. 31028.0001) the Melano factory replaced the upper plastic hinge assembly on the Opera-60 fridge-freezers with
display, in order to improve the fridge door support and prevent the cable connecting the two cards (power and display) from being damaged.

The new assembly provides for use of the upper hinge, chromed, with relative pin, and modified hinge cover (see fig.1-2).

The hinge assembly is reversible by rotating the single parts 180° and then refitting the pin (see fig.3).

Another two other tape reference marks (now three) have been placed on the card connection cable for correct installation on the panel base and
fridge door in order to have the right flexibility during rotation. When the door is open the cable must never be strained.

The reference marks on the cable refer to right hand opening (see fig.4):

-Reference mark (A) indicates which end must be connected to the panel power card.

-Reference mark (B) must be fitted in the seat obtained on the panel base (see fig.5).

-Reference mark (C) must be fitted in the seat obtained on the right side of the door, in the hinge area (see fig.6).

If the door opens on the left, these reference marks on the cable must be modified as shown in fig.7.

(A) has not been changed, whereas (B) has become 120 mm and (C) 380 mm. Colours other than black can be used so as not to confuse them.

Also, reference mark (B) must be fitted in the seat obtained on the panel (see fig.8), whereas the (C) must be fixed in the second tab from the left
(see fig.9).

In the left-hand opening version, when tightening the fixing screw make sure the cable is not crushed by the panel. To avoid this, the cable should
be fixed with adhesive tape to the vertical and horizontal ribbing, so that it passes inside the groove, thus avoiding the hole (see fig.10).

On the right hand bottom part of the cabinet panel base (hinge area) there is a slot (4.5/4.8) to be used for correct positioning of the cable (see
fig.11-12).

Even the first cable seat on the upper head of the fridge door (hinge area, right side) has been modified, from 6x10 mm to 4x20 mm. This prevents
the cable from moving when the door is opened/closed (see fig.13).

The fridge doors for models with display, currently managed as replacements, do not have the modification shown in fig.13; in this case the width of
the cable (reference area C) must be increased using more adhesive tape until it is blocked in the first support seat (6x10 mm).

On premodification models, the new hinge assembly can only be used if the panel base is modified (see fig.11-12). On the left side the 5 mm slot is
already present; whereas, for the fridge door, the width of the cable must be increased on models with right-hand opening (reference area C) as
described above.

If the door opens on the left, proceed as described above (fig.7- 8-9-10).

On all the combined fridge and freezer models in the Ariston (range 2001), width 600 mm produced in Italy (Melano), the doors handled as
replacement are without weather stripping because this is no longer blocked between door and counter-door.

The weather stripping has a new profile and is located in the housing resulting along the external perimeter of the counter-door, where it is
threaded through by simple hand pressure. To remove the weather stripping it will suffice to unthread it from its housing without any other
operation.

Therefore in case of replacement of the door the weather stripping may be recovered from the existing door, however the weather strips are
handled singularly as a spare part.

Replacement of NTC sensors on latest generation of "cold product line" models
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(KRF 310VE - KRF330VE - KRF310VNFE - KRF330VNFE), including the new combo appliances in the Indesit-2000 range (C238 e C240), Ariston-
2001 (MBA3831-4031- 4231 ; MBA3841 - 4041) on static or no-frost "cold product line" models of the latest generation electronic version, the NTC
sensors cannot be replaced because they are blocked within the cabinet. This decision is due to the low faultiness of the component and to the
high guarantees of operation in foam-insulated environments.

The exceptions to the aforementioned are the upright Ariston electronic 600 mm wide freezers, rounded aesthetics, Ariston models EUP300XEU -
EUP350XEU - TUP300XOM (including deriving versions) where the sensor can still be replaced in the event of a fault.

Where the replacement of the product is deemed necessary by the probe defect, then it is important to closely check that the problem is
determined by the probe and not by the electronic card.

In order to check the correct operation of the probe it is possible to measure the resistance of the wiring harness terminals that must present the
following values :

- temperature of + 20 °C = about 2.000 ohm (air probe at environment temperature)

- temperature of + 5 °C = about 7.000 ohm (fridge air probe)

- temperature of - 18 °C = about 23.000 ohm (freezer air probe)

Also, in a less technical manner, replacing each probe on the electronic card (at room temperature) in a "steering" manner, checking the
elimination of the problem (if the compressor starts the probe is defective).

N.B. the probes are identifiable by their coloration (marking) placed on the probe and its wiring harness :

-fridge evaporator probe (black marking)

-fridge air probe (brown marking)

-freezer air probe (white marking)

-freezer evaporator probe (no-frost) end of defrost (light blue marking).

Solenoid valveBytron-510 for combined products Ariston-Indesit of series 2000

From the half of July 2001 the production of Melano is using on the combined products Ariston and Indesit, belonging to series 2000, a new three-
way solenoid valve - model Bytron-510 to 220-240V 50/60Hz for gas R134A and R600A.

There is only an exception for the models Ariston with display, which continue to use the solenoid valve Elbi 368.

The new solenoid valve Bytron- 510 has the same technical and working features of the preceding one (Elbi 368), although it is built up differently
because for the following reasons:

1) The body on plastic with four fixing-points (two for sides): at first it was metal only with a fixing-point.

2) The location of the three tubes (at first they were on the same right side with the central entry) now are subdivided in this way: two of them are
on a side (long-entry and short-exit for the freezer-evaporator) and one of them is on the opposite side (the other exit for the refrigerator-
evaporator).

Moreover, the external diameter of tubes was 4 mm, and now it is 3 mm.

3) The probable bending of tubes and their length, although they are different between the two solenoid valves, are not binding for the assembly.

During the assembly on the product (left side of the compressor-zone) its location/fixing is not changed excepting for the type of nail 4x15 for the
model Elbi-368 and of 2,9x9,52 for the model Bytron-510.

Moreover a new molecular filter 078983 is used to couple with the 3mm entry-tube (at first on the model Elbi-368 the filter 064790 was installed to
be coupled with the 4mm entry-tube).

As spare part, only the solenoid valve Elbi-368(075616) will be managed and in the case of its use instead of the Bytron-510, also the molecular
filter (078983) will be substituted with the other one (064790) because of the problem of the diameter of tubes.

P.S. We have to remember that, apart from the kind solenoid valve, the tube with the white little sign has to be connected to the capillary of the
refrigetor-evaporator marked with white paint.

Moreover to understand better the difference, two images have been made (NT005400 and NT005500) relating to the solenoid valves, on which
the location of tubes has been underlined with the numbers (1-2-3):

1) capillary for refrigerator-evaporator (exit)

2) molecular filter (entry)

3) capillary of freezer-evaporator (exit)

Magnetic switch on combined electronics Ariston-Indesit range - 2000

On combined electronic models ( Ariston and Indesit, range 2000 ) on the base of the door's dashboard of refrigerator, there is a magnetic switch
assembled (075612) with a rectangular shape that must be inserted on the appropriate hole in the narrow side (the position is compulsory for the
stop and the correct function of the product).

The missing of the magnetic switch can cause the following inconvenient with open or closed door:

-If the product has being lit for more than 3 minutes and if magnet is missing, the lamp flashes (if is not broken) as soon as the door opens.

So, in case of substitution of the fridge door, to avoid this inconvenient, together with the dashboard and the moulding, the magnetic switch must
always be rescued.

From the end of July the production Dpt. will supply as spare parts the fridge doors of combined electronics, already included with the magnetic
switch.

(Anyway please verify always its presence).

From September-01 (registration number 10917.0001) the production of Melano is using on the combined products Ariston Series 2001 - models
with displays (e.g. MBA3841C - MBA4041C), the electronic modified card 4080.02.200: the begin of this production is the 36th week.

This card is built up in the instrument panel of the piece of furniture and it "dialogues" with the card of the display, built up on the door.

The last version has to be used on the pre-modified models in case of substitution of the card 4080.02.200, because only the card of the last
version is resolutive.

Only the modified cards (of the 36th, 37th week etc.) with the code 081843 will be managed from the spare parts' stores in Fabriano (Italy), Setubal
(Portugal), Basse Ham (France) and Corby (England); the preceding ones have not to be used.

Command Terminal board display on combined Ariston - 2001 (models MBA384 and 404)

From the month of October-2001 (registration no. 1008.0001) the Melano production plant modified casement of the commands terminal board, on
display models, due to electrical interference to the electronic card (electrostatic discharges).

The old casements were in shiny polyester (aluminum or white color) and comprised a chromed border for both colors.

The new casements are in PVC with white a border for the aluminum color, and aluminum for the white color.

The commands terminal board handled as a spare part is complete of new casement and keys cover.

The commands terminal boards 082014 and 081850 handled at the Fabriano, Basse Ham, Setubal and Corby warehouses have been checked
and reclaimed eliminating all old versions with the chromed border.

New superior pivot hinge Ariston combined with Display

From the month of February 2002 (reg. No. 20207.0001) the Melano production has modified, on the electronic Ariston-2001 combinations with the
display, the pivot of the hinge because the latter interfered with the wiring, which is lodged in the superior hinge, causing the breakage of the
internal filament. Consequently, when it is necessary to substitute the wiring (081844) on the pre-modified models it will be also be necessary to
change the pivot of the superior hinge with the new (see figure NT007500). When reassembling the wiring (081844) pay attention that it does not
get trodden by the hinge and that it will be positioned around the pivot leaving it soft and not rigid (see figure NT007600).

New Bitron-510 solenoid valve on combined refrigerator-freezers (Melano-Carinaro

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve was already used in July 2001, for a short period of time, by the Melano production (see note N1030026). At that
time, it was decided not to manage it as spare part in place of the Bitron/Elbi 368 item.

Now, seeing that it is being used in the Melano (November 2002) and Carinaro (March 2003) factories, it has been decided to manage it as spare
part, in place of Bitron/Elbi 368.

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve can also be fitted on premodification models using the KIT that includes the molecular filter.

The Bitron-510 solenoid valve used in the Melano factory is not interchangeable with the one used in the Carinaro factory because the tube
bending is different.

For Melano, this modification affects Opera-60 Ariston combined refrigerator-freezers and the Indesit 2000-2002 range from serial no. 21111.0001;
for Carinaro, it affects Ariston built-in combined refrigerator-freezers 2002 range, from serial no. 30323.000.

Modification of freezer doors on Ariston Opera-60 combined fridge-freezers (cond

In March 2003 the Melano factory started using freezer doors with modified handle on the Ariston Opera-60 combined fridge-freezers (models MB-
MBA-MBAA), in order to eliminate the problem of condensation.

The grip width has been reduced (from 28.5 to 22.7 mm) on these doors, as indicated by the dimension (A) in the figure (N1030059FIG1).

These freezer doors are already available as replacements and a coloured label on the packing distinguishes them from the previous ones. This
will be done until stocks of premodification doors run out.

Upper hinge modified on Ariston Opera-60 fridge-freezers with Display

In October 2003 (serial no. 31028.0001) the Melano factory replaced the upper plastic hinge assembly on the Opera-60 fridge-freezers with
display, in order to improve the fridge door support and prevent the cable connecting the two cards (power and display) from being damaged.

The new assembly provides for use of the upper hinge, chromed, with relative pin, and modified hinge cover (see fig.1-2).

The hinge assembly is reversible by rotating the single parts 180° and then refitting the pin (see fig.3).

Another two other tape reference marks (now three) have been placed on the card connection cable for correct installation on the panel base and
fridge door in order to have the right flexibility during rotation. When the door is open the cable must never be strained.

New 220-240V /50-60 Hz fan unit C09R1907 (KIT 077159 and 081971) Carinaro

At the end of March 2004 the Carinaro factory replaced the fan unit in kit 077159.

The new fan unit (C09R1907) differs from the previous one (C09R1846) in the rpm reduction from 2290 to 2000, 3.5 Watt power, Class B, 220-
240V/50-60 Hz voltage and faston connectors (6.3x0.8 mm) remain the same.

This modification will also be extended to the Melano and Setubal factories for Kit 081971.

The new fan unit will be managed with the same Service code as the previous one (076024), once the stocks of the latter run out; the same will
also be done for Kits 077159 and 081971.
