Progression Policies to XU College

For XUSHS G12

For SY 2018-2019

A. General

A.1 All G12 graduates from XUSHS are automatically admitted to XU College.

A.2 All XUSHS G12 students are required to take a Diagnostic Examination,
the RTCU (Readiness Test for Colleges and Universities prepared by the
Center for Educational Measurement). This Diagnostic Exam will serve as
one measure of the student’s overall performance in Senior High.

B. For progression to a Non-Board program

B.1 An XUSHS G12 graduate is automatically admitted to a Non-Board program.

C. For progression to a Board program from vertically-aligned SHS Strands

C.2 Screening Level 1: Primary criteria are the articulated SHS Academic Strand
and the score on the Diagnostic Examination. Progression requirements for
students coming from strands not articulated to the Board programs applied
for, are governed by separate guidelines found in section D below.

C.3 Screening Level 2: If the XUSHS student does not meet the cut-off score but
the score on the Diagnostic Test falls within the range under the
“Conditionals,” the XUSHS graduate may be admitted to the Board program
for as long as the High School Grades, as specified above, are at least 85 or
its equivalent. A conditional student must not have any failing mark in the
major subjects during the freshman year; otherwise, the student will have to
shift to another course program.

C.4 Screening Level 3: Interviews may be required of the admitted applicants

under particular board programs prior to college registration.

D. For progression to a Board program from crossover strands/tracks

D.1 XUSHS graduates may proceed to board programs not vertically aligned to
their SHS strands/tracks, but subject to the following admission
requirements.
a. The Diagnostic Test percentile score should be at least 50%.
b. XUSHS grades in Math and English should be at least 85% or its
equivalent. Engineering and Chemistry programs require also that
Science subjects should be at least 85% or its equivalent.
c. Interviews will be conducted for all student applicants.
d. While there are no bridging courses required for applicants from
crossover strands/tracks, the student applicants are highly
encouraged to take preparatory subjects to enhance their chances
of performing well in college. The Preparatory Subjects are listed
below. Please inquire from XUSHS for availability of classes for these
Preparatory Subjects during the summer term.
e. Admitted applicants from cross strands/tracks are automatically
considered as “conditional” students. A conditional student must
not have any failing mark in the major subjects during the freshman
year; otherwise, the student will have to shift to another course
program.
f. This set of policies is effective for two years (SY 2018-2019 and SY
2019-2020).
