Major Prophets Overview

These five books are called the “Major Prophets”


because they are larger than the other prophetic
books.
These books record the prophecies and ministries
of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. These prophets
ministered during a time when Israel was in rebellion Bible Study
against God and had been divided into two nations.
God sent these prophets to call His people to repent.
Isaiah 745 BC—695 BC
Resource
Isaiah prophesied to the Southern Kingdom during the
reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah & Manasseh.
Isaiah announced the judgment of God, but also
prophesied about comfort, rest, and glory to come.
Jeremiah 626 BC—586 BC
Jeremiah prophesied to the Southern Kingdom during
the reigns of Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin &
Zedekiah. Jeremiah prophesied that Babylon would
destroy Jerusalem. He lived to see it fulfilled.
Major
Lamentations 586 BC
Lamentations is Jeremiah’s song of mourning over the
destruction of Jerusalem.
Prophets
Ezekiel 593 BC—571 BC
Ezekiel and many other Jews were taken captive to
Babylon before Jerusalem was destroyed. He
prophesies from Babylon about Jerusalem’s fall, and
then about Israel’s future glory.
Daniel 605 BC—539 BC
Daniel was taken captive by Babylon at a very young 1065 Railroad Street
age to be trained to serve the king. God gave Daniel Corona, CA 92882
