Daim laughs off conspiracy allegations, says

Anwar will be next PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Daim Zainuddin has laughed off allegations that he was
involved in a conspiracy to prevent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming the
next Prime Minister.

In return, Daim questioned the journalist of a foreign news portal, who had earlier
asked him for a comment if he had read The Star.

"I read it (Anwar saying it's a baseless allegation) in The Star today. You have to
go and read The Star. Have you read The Star?
"Have you read Anwar's latest statement? The latest one today. You better go and
read, and then get back to me. I don't get involved," Daim quipped.

He was speaking at a press conference in Menara Ilham here after the 100 days
mandate of the CEP on Monday.

It is believed that the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chairman was referring to
a story on The Star Online where Anwar said there was no basis to link Prime
Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Daim and PKR deputy president Datuk Seri
Azmin Ali to such a plot.

When asked if he was concerned who will be the next Prime Minister, Daim said
Pakatan Harapan had long decided that it will be Anwar.

"So Anwar will be the next one," Daim said.
