Journalist-publicistic style is a special type of style which consolidates characteristics of

scientific and literature-artistic style. He is well known for objectivity and expressiveness. He
has zivotopis, but also understandability of expressions, simplicity which comes from
objectivity of seeing random, daily happenings, with the purpose to get readers attention.

Interest in figures of speech dates from Ancient Greece, especially for metaphor which was
defined by Aristotel as a link between rhetoric and poetry. Metaphor establishes relationships
of similarity and as such contributes to speech clarity and also understaning of what's
mysterious in speech. Like they were before, figures of speech are also nowadays subject of
many analiysis. We also find figures of speech in newspaper articles, here we analyzed some
printed media titles like: Dnevni Avaz, Azra, Oslobodjenje, Dani and Krajina. Some figures
of speech are usred very often, word play, rhetoric question, while diction figures are rarely
used.
