CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Backround
Married and living a harmonious marriage life is the dream of every human because in addition to
fulfilling the task of development as an adult individual, in general, marital life also provides more benefits for
individuals than single life.
Loss of a spouse due to a divorce or death of a spouse can lead a person to a new status as a widow or widower.
In women, widowhood is one of the most severe emotional challenges because in this world there will not be a
woman planning her way of life to become a widow, either because of her husband's death or divorce with her
spouse. Life as a widow is difficult because on the one hand they must be responsible for being single parents
for their children and on the other hand they feel the psychological burden of society that generally thinks
widow life as negative.
Socially, the general public still views the status of the widow with a negative view. The term widow, regardless
of social class is a disgrace. Various stigma imposed on him by people who think the best place for women is
beside the husband. Together with the social burden. Widowed by divorce or death, social burden as heavy.
Without ever wanting to see the various factors or causes of widowhood, people tend to judge and label bad and
cruel to widows.

B. Purpose of writing
To fulfill one of the conversation assigment and to to explain and discuss why many people have a
negative point of view to a widow.

1. What’s wrong with a widow?
2. Why many people judge a widow?

CHAPTER II
CONTENT

A widow is a woman who does not have a spouse and the status of solitude because of separation from husband
after being collected, either separated by divorce or death. A divorce or status that is not clear because left by the
husband left to be a disgrace for a family, especially a wife.
