Course Description:

This course focuses on the basic aspects related to park planning and design. It
covers the principles and approaches in planning and design including park and site
analysis techniques.

Objectives:

1. Define the basic principles of park planning and design.


2. Identify the knowledge on the park planning and design process.
3. Distinguish and apply the basic planning and design principles of a park
development project.

Students Expectations:

This course provides an overview of park planning and design based on the literature;
therefore, it is mandatory that each student complete ALL text/article reading before the
class meeting. Library work beyond the course’s text/articles is expected. This is a
bachelor degree level course and all course work in class and assignments handed in
should be well thought out.

Attendance and Participation:

 Attendance is a requirement for this course. Students are expected to come to


class PREPARED, having done the readings. Attendance is according to the
regulations of UiTM.
 Students must attend lectures including other course activities such as
workshops/ tutorials/ laboratories/ studios/ fieldwork/ practical work and
internship as stipulated in the curriculum.
 Students with less than 80% attendance from the total contact hours for every
course, without the written approval from the Faculty/ Branch Campus/Learning
Centre, are not allowed to sit for the final examination of that course. For courses
with no final examinations, the course work will not be evaluated. Students will be
given a Grade F or fail with a ZZ status and a penalty of RM100.

Course Policies

• Classes will be used as a place to discuss brainstorm and plan your


work/assignment/project.
• Information Gathering. All students may have to go out (with lecturer’s
permission) to gather information about selected topics and assignments.
• Grading. The course grade will be based on assignments, one project and your
attendance and participation. All marks will be weighted according to the
following scores:
Assignments

All written assignment should be type, Arial, font size 11, with 1.5 space
margins. Papers with references are to follow APA style. All assignments are
due at the end of class unless other arrangements have been made. Late
assignment will cost you; your grade will be REDUCED 20% each day it is late.
Assignment format will be given for student reference.

Test

There will be 1 Test conducted during this course. These tests or quiz will be on
the topics covered on the previous week. It is a short test taking only 1 hour of
the tutorial class session.
