STUDENTS OF AFFILIATED COLLEGES

THE STUDENTS, WHO HAVE BEEN ADMITTED IN VARIOUS

UNIVERSITIES PRIOR TO THE YEAR 2001 AND READMITTED
TO AFFILIATED COLLEGES UNDER ANNA UNIVERSITY, TO
PROCEED TO THE HIGHER SEMESTER AS THEY HAVE
EXCEEDED THE MAXIMUM PERIOD FOR THE COMPLETION
OF THE PROGRAMME.
PREAMBLE

The students who have been admitted to B.E. / B.Tech degree

Programmes in various Universities of Tamil Nadu during the
academic year 2001 – 2002 have been transferred to Anna
University and Completed their Programmes at Anna University.

However, certain students who have been admitted to B.E. /

B.Tech. degree programmes of other Universities prior to the
academic year 2001-2002 have been readmitted, after break of
study, in various Affiliated Engineering Colleges under Anna
University to complete the remaining higher semesters.

From this it has been observed that most of the students who have
been granted readmission by DOTE have either reached the
maximum eligible period to complete the programme before
reaching pre-final / final semester OR not eligible to join and
continue their studies even in the semester in which they have
been granted readmission.

Such of those students have requested through the Principals of the

Colleges to extend the maximum period to enable them to complete
the remaining semesters along with arrear courses of previous
semesters.
 ORDER
After careful consideration of the representation received from such
candidates, the Academic Council and the Syndicate have granted
for extension of maximum period to complete the remaining higher
semesters and arrears within a maximum of 2 years starting from:

1. December 2007 – May 2008 session

2. June 2008 – December 2008 session
3. December 2008 – June 2009 session
4. June 2009 – December 2009 session)

Subject to satisfying the other norms of the University.

The students who have arrears in semesters prior to joining Anna

University shall write the arrears examinations conducted by the
respective parent Universities where they were admitted prior
to 2001.

BEEN ADMITTED TO U.G (FT / PT) AND P.G (FT / PT) UNDER
VARIOUS REGULATIONS AND PERMIT THEM TO COMPLETE
THE ARREAR COURSES AS THEY HAVE EXCEEDED THE
MAXIMUM PERIOD FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE
PROGRAMME.
PREAMBLE

Certain Students enrolled under Regulations R1991, R1996 AND R

2000 FOR U.G (FT / PT) including Architecture and R1997,
R2001 FOR P.G (FT / PT) in the University departments have
appealed for extension of maximum time to complete their arrear
courses.
ORDER
After careful consideration of their representation, the

11 Academic Council and the Syndicate have granted permission
for a maximum of four chances to write the arrear examinations
of the courses for which equivalent courses available under the
existing U.G. Regulations 2004 / P.G. Regulations 2005 to be
conducted in

1. April / May 2008

2. November / December 2008
3. April/May 2009 and
4. November / December 2009

Subject to satisfying the other norms of the University.

M.ARCH. / M.PLAN. PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY ANNA
UNIVERSITY CHENNAI.
PREAMBLE

AMIE and other similar certificate holders have been admitted to

various M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree programmes of
Anna University earlier.

The MHRD have in their Circulars have stated that these Certificates
can be considered equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. wherever these
Regular Engineering degrees are prescribed as Qualification for
Recruitment / Promotion in Government Department Undertaking.

ORDER
After having considered various aspects involving the conduct of
A & B certificate examinations, the 11th Academic Council and the
Syndicate have recommended that A & B Certificate holders may be
considered for admissions to M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan.
programme of Anna University Chennai with the following conditions.

1. Two year Industrial experience in the relevant field after obtaining

AMIE or similar certificates.
2. Must have valid GATE / TANCET scores.

THE GRANT OF EXTENSION OF TIME BEYOND THE MAXIMUM

PERMITED PERIOD OF STUDY TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE
COMPLETED THE MAXIMUM PERIOD AS ON APRIL / MAY–2007
EXAMINATIONS UNDER REGULATIONS IN FORCE AT THE TIME
OF THEIR ADMISSION IN UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS,
AUTONOMOUS COLLEGES AND AFFILIATED COLLEGES.

PREAMBLE

Certain students who have been admitted to various UG / PG Degree

programme both in Affiliated Colleges and University Departments
have represented that, though they have completed all the semesters
prescribed for the course they could not write the arrear courses as
they have exceeded the maximum period of completion of the
programme as on April – May 2007 examination as per existing
Regulations.

Such of those students have requested to extend the maximum

period to enable them to write the University examinations for the
arrear courses.

ORDER

After careful consideration of the request of the above students the

Syndicate at it’s184th meeting held on 12.10.2007, by its Resolution
No 184.6.6, granted permission for a maximum of two more
successive chances to write the arrear examinations to be conducted
1. In April/May 2008 and
2. November / December 2008.

Subject to satisfying the other norms of the University.

The candidates of Affiliated Engineering Colleges are requested to

contact the Controller of Examinations, Anna University Chennai.
