LRT to KANATA – I met with the Mayor who confirmed support for both

Kanata and Barrhaven as equal priorities. The Environmental Assessment

approved for the Barrhaven connection (the EA for the Kanata Link has been
done) will determine the route. He will be seeking funding from the federal
and provincial governments for construction to start as soon as the LRT
reaches Moodie. All candidates running to replace me also support moving
ahead as quickly as possible.

ARCADIA MEETING REMINDER – July 12, 7pm at the Mlacak Centre (Hall
C) is the public meeting regarding the Arcadia Subdivision, including the
pond needed for construction of Campeau Drive. Come out to provide
comments on the plan and to find out from Minto exactly what is being done
to get the pond built as soon as possible. I’ve been doing everything possible
to get construction of the road and bridge under way and this is an
opportunity for you to find out the cause of delays and when it should be
happening.

5100 KANATA AVENUE RETAIL DEVELOPMENT – This is a sizable project

across from All Saints High School. Join me for a public meeting on July 16,
7pm at the Mlacak Centre to discuss the site plan and give your feedback on
the overall plan for this development. The owners and City planners will be
present. I value your comments and suggestions.

MOVING ON – SAVE THE DATE, NOVEMBER 20, Marianne’s farewell

Gala - My term on Council ends on November 30th and I’ll be moving on
from being your City Councillor to working at the community level. In the
last 50 years, I have spent 29 as a municipal representative and 21 years as
a community activist, so I’m not retiring but going back to my roots in the
community. My ‘bucket’ list of things I want to do will fill my time. One of
those is a Health Hub for Kanata – one that brings many health services
together: a place to go for minor emergencies; for chronically ill and new
baby services; for minor day surgery and more. Kanata/Stittsville now
numbers about 130,000, putting a strain on our existing health services. The
Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) is overloaded and the Hub could relieve
that pressure. I am working with QCH, CHEO, WOCRC, LHIN, Ottawa Public
Health and others to develop a business plan and begin the research needed
to move forward. Doing this costs money, so funds raised at “Marianne’s
Moving On” Gala on November 20 at the Brookstreet Hotel will go to the
Health Hub project. Tickets are $150 per person. For more information,
please go to my website.
OTTAWA POLICE are developing a Strategic Plan for 2019-2021. They
want to hear from you. Fill in their survey on their website or attend their
session, Sunday July 14, 2-4 pm, Accora Village Recreation Centre, 98
Woodbridge Cr.
