2019 SEA GAMES LOGO PRESS RELEASE STATEMENT

(Facebook Page)
Good morning!
man at inireview.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 20) — After the proposed logo
for the Philippine hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games was
unveiled on Sunday, netizens were quick to express their disapproval as
they poked fun at the creation.

In a general assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, Foreign Affairs

Secretary and Chair of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee
(PHISGOC) Alan Peter Cayetano revealed the logo, which features 11
multicolored circles formed in the shape of the Philippine archipelago.

"Our logo will be the 11 circles representing the 11 countries bound

together in the shape of the Philippines to symbolize that wherever and
whenever the games are played, we are one and we will as one," explained
Cayetano.

Its revelation, however, underwhelmed the Filipino online community as the

logo immediately drew flak and instantly became a meme.

"You can do better," said Aly Concepcion.

"Big joke! Di man lang nag hire ng graphic designer ang mga to! Panget
ng logo," said Carlo De Vera.
"Can't you just start a Logo Competition so that Pinoy designers can come
up with a better concept?" suggested Lyndon Darum.

Apart from the logo, Cayetano also unveiled the country's mascot "Fami."

"The mascot is called Fami, short for family or pamilya, to show that we
have one family," he explained.

PHISGOC's social media and marketing team, however, issued a

statement, saying the logo may still be open to revisions, as the official one
has yet to be revealed on November 30.
