Significance of topic to Corporate Governance

Recently, the Philippines has been tagged as the ASEAN’s next tiger economy. In line with this,
this paper aims to highlight the role of Corporate Governance in maximizing the growth of the Philippine
economy as it enters a period of great economic opportunities. It shall emphasize the importance of good
Corporate Governance in driving the Philippine economy to greater heights and how, on the other hand,
its absence will limit its growth and hamper its sustainability.

Specific Research Approach

The researcher shall gather different studies and literature presenting the effect Corporate
Governance to different foreign countries’ economies with greater focus on the Philippines’ neighboring
countries. He will also research on the efforts exerted by these countries to improve Corporate
Governance and its direct effect on their respective economic growth. Lastly, he will provide an
assessment on how Corporate Governance has affected the Philippine economy thus far and recommend
different means and methods on how it can further be improved for the purpose of maximizing the
expected economic opportunities and advantage that the country is expected to gain in the years to come.
