We facilitate changes based upon the significant concerns of our residents and
fellows. SLURA is committed to enhancing the educational environment for
graduate medical education at Saint Louis University, as well as improving work
conditions through a team-based, problem-solving approach. SLURA
representatives are a liaison to SLU’s Graduate Medical Education Committee.
SLURA sponsors social events and guest lectures on topics of interest ranging
from "How to Find a Job" to "Basics of Investing."
Our goal, as scientists and clinicians, is to bring science to the bedside and to
offer novel therapies. Saint Louis University is one of only nine Catholic
universities with a higher or highest research activity designation from the
Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
In fiscal year 2014, SLU’s medical center researchers in the health sciences
were awarded 284 grants, contracts and subcontracts totaling $32.9 million.
Funding agencies include the National Institutes of Health, National Science
Foundation, Centers for Disease Control and other governmental sources, as
well as private industries, associations and foundations.

The Research Planning Committee is the advisory body to the Dean of the
School of Medicine about policies, activities and long-term objectives
pertaining to research in the School of Medicine.
