OVERVIEW

Gati cargo is a BSE Listed company . Gati Limited is a pioneer and leader in the Express Distribution and
Supply Chain Solutions in India. It was the revolutionary approach adopted by Gati that helped launch many
path-breaking initiatives in the logistics segment and many were the firsts for the Indian market. In a span of
20 years, Gati has consistently explored various ways to bring premium value to the customer, always
setting benchmarks in quality of service and customer satisfaction.

Having started as a cargo management company in 1989, Gati has grown into an organization with more
than 3500 employees and a turnover of Rs 630 crore and covering 622 out of 626 districts in India.Gati has
over 4000 vehicles on road,fleet of refrigerated trucks,container vessels and world class mechantronic
warehousing facilities across India.Be it flexible point-to-point distribution solutions or complex end-to-end
integrated logistics solutions or supply chain management, Gati does it all with great effectiveness and
reliability, and enjoys the trust of a large customer base.

Gati was also the first to run the millenium parcel express train in October 2001 between Mumbai and
Kolkata with 10 VPUs. The initiative to run a parcel express train between KYN (Mumbai) and NGC
(Guwahati) was again taken by Gati - this is a classic example of PPP (Public Private Partnership).

The Gati advantage of seamless connectivity across air, road, ocean and rail has resulted in a plethora of
offerings to the customer unmatched in the industry. Besides having a strong network in India, Gati has a
strong market presence in the Asia Pacific region and SAARC countries. Today, Gati has offices in China,
Singapore, Bhutan, Dubai, Hong Kong, Thailand, Nepal and Sri Lanka and has plans to foray into other
markets.

Gati's shipping division, Gati Coast to Coast based at Chennai, with two decades of experience in the
industry has many firsts to its credit: first in operating direct service to Yangon; first in operating a direct
container service from Ranong Port, Thailand; and the first in operating direct container service from
Penang, Malaysia. Gati Coast to Coast today has a tonnage of 43,581 DWT and a fleet strength of six
vessels.

Gati's business model is well aligned with the customers’ need, which is why the core businesses have
grown to meet the evolving needs of the customer, and this has resulted in consolidation of services and in
the development of core and critical infrastructure, thus propelling Gati to the forefront in the logistics
segment.

OPERATION

Gati has its business divided into four zones , mainly East Zone , West Zone , South
Zone , North Zone . Each zone has its Zonal Office,Regional Office ,And a number of
Branches ,
A Branch Office is headed by a Branch manager ,whose main work is managing the
operations as well as marketing the Companys Service in his area ,For Eg Gati has
Branches all over Mumbai each Branch has a specified area , Apart from the Manager
Gati also has a Marketing team which helps in getting the Bussiness,
There is a Customer Service team to handle customer queries ,
A Customer Service Executive is present at each branch ,
Gati has Business Associates in its Operations , The Bussiness Associates Have their
own Vehicles , Pick up and delivery is done by this business associate, A Business
Associate not being an Employee charges commission on the total business done,
By him , the commission may be a certain percentage ,mostly 10 to 15 percent .
The business targets varies from area to area for eg target may be more in an industrial
area ,
The Branch Manager along with his Marketing team gets business from various
industries , these industries are those who may or may not have daily movement of
goods to different parts of the country.FOR EG Wochardt , UNILEVER , PROCTER
AND GAMBLE etc, Apart from this Gati gives Home Pick up and drop of goods sent
by individuals across the Country,
A Business Associate Collects the Goods after receiving a call from CSE at the branch
office , he marks the goods as per the Coding system for eg Jammu is marked as JAM
MUMBAI as MUM ,
The associate also prepares a Docket for the goods that would be moving , Each Docket
has a specific number which is marked on the Consignment along with the Destination
Code ,
The Docket has all the information about the goods ,their weight ,the receivers address ,
The consingners address , the value , the number in which goods are sent ,
A consignor copy is given to the Consignor , Payment is collected according to the rate
book as per the weight ,Goods are marked and loaded , then this goods arrive at the
branch office, All the data from the docket is entered in the System ,by a Data Entry
Operator , later in the evening after all collections are done the goods are sent to
a Central HUB which is located in the Particular Zone ,the goods are Segregated
according to the region and sent accordingly to the Central Hub of that region ,or Zone .
The Zone then distributes the Goods according to its brances ,
For some consignments the payments is to be collected from the Receiver.
The Data Entered in the system helps in tracking the consignment .
For Eg Data may be entered at BRANCH , At Cental HUB , At Cental HUB of the other
Zone where goods are sent ,the receiving branch the delivery attempts made etc.
A IT team is present to handle the problems faced at the Branch or Zonal Office ,
HR people recruit the Trainees , Executives ,Sr Executives , Marketing Executives ,
Managers , and all the operational requirements ,
There is a Accountant present at Each branch to handle the cash transactions ,
A Finance department is present at the Zonal Office ,

For the Rail transport or for goods that would be sent by rail there is a railway hub at the
ZONAL office ,Just beside the Central Hub .
The goods have a marking of RW ,which is also mentioned in the Docket ,
