1- Sociology Theory of Culture

Theories of culture have a great impact on the human life. There exists million of culture in

the world. The social conflict theory is also included in the theories of culture. It deals with

the conflict of the genders in the society. It is relevant to modern world as there are many

people around us that use their power of authority and snatch the rights of the deserve people.

In the social conflict theory many of the people interact with each other on the basis of their

conflict rather than consensus. That’s why it is important to discuss them.

2- Merits of Theories of culture

The social-conflict proves to be very helpful in many occasions. It helps the people in getting

equal rights in the society. In the past time women was not give as much of importance as

they get now-a- days. Women are considered to be the low class human being in the society.

They are always being the victim of violence, slavery and discrimination.

In the recent years there arises the social conflict regarding the rights of women. The social-

conflict plays an important role in getting the rights in the society. They are now able to get

equal right in the society like men. Now, they are free to live in the society out of the fear of

being victimize. In the past women have no right to read and write in the society but due to

social conflict they are able to get the right to read and write like the men.

Different people have different culture in the world. By studying different theories of culture

one will be able to understand the language of other and get more knowledge about their

culture. The advantage of studying theories and its understanding are numerous. It helps the

people in promotion of cooperation, creation of society based in equality and the evolution of

mutual respect etc.

a- Name of Newspaper and Author

The first article I have got from the Newspaper “Washingtonpost ” with the article name

“What is the real gender pay gap?”. This article is written by “Robert J. Samuelson”

and is published on “April 24, 2016”.

The second article I have got from the Newspaper “The Guardian” with the article name

“Gender pay gap means women work 67 days a year for free TUC”. This article is

written by “Rupert Jones” and is published on “March 8, 2018”.

b- Fundamental Issues

The author raises the issue that women earn less hourly wage than that of the men.

Women hourly wage is 79 percent of the men average hourly wages. There exist the

social conflict of inequality between the men and women. The issue is that if work value

is same and the time of work is also same then why there exist the inequality issue in case

payment or hourly wages.

The author says that entrance of women in the labor force has created issues. The author

says that work balance of family will be disturbed. There will be the issue of sexual

tension at the work, lingering discrimination and many more issues at the workplace due

to women entrance in the labor force.

The author says that by 2013 women participation in labor force has been doubled to

57%. This participation of women in the labor force created a lot of problems because

due to the so much involvement of men on work place will disturb the working

environment of the organization. Their involvement in labor force is increasing day by

day.

The author says that there is always a gender pay gap in every organization sector. In an

education sector the pay gap is 26.5 percent. There again exist the issue of social conflict

and women rights are again compromise at this stage. This is not fair if working hours are

same and everything is same then why there exist the issue in pay scale. The pay gap will

causes so many issues and due to this gap there exist the issue of social conflict between

men and women

The author says that the act of getting women in top leadership position is going into

reverse. According to report in 2016 7.8 percent of chief executive officers are women

but it falls to 6.5 percent in the same year. This report is given by Egon Zehnder. Egon

Zehnder is the firm which almost surveyed in 92 largest companies in the United

Kingdom. The main reason of women fall rate from the top position is that women are

less confident than men.
