Mechanical engineering is the practice and application of the engineering principles

and problem-solving techniques that will help to find solution in the existing problems of
our society and environment. Mechanical engineering has a direct and vital impact on
society and environment, professional solutions such as develop sustainably through new
technologies that can provide efficient and clean energy conversion and utilization such as
building different kinds of power plants that will help to generate more electricity will be
beneficial to our society as well as environment since most power plants nowadays do not
use coil and oil that produces greenhouse gas emissions. Even though engineers contribute
a lot in conservation of energy through building nuclear power plants, thermal power
plants, solar, wind and hydroelectric facility it's still not enough to address other problems
existing in our society and environment that's explains why many engineers continuously
promote professional engineering solutions to improve our society.

2. One of the most common social and environmental problems nowadays is global
warming. Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of earth's climate system
usually caused by burning of fossil fuels which releases carbon dioxide gas to the earth’s
atmosphere. One effective way to address this issue is to reduce the dependence on using
fossil fuels and start using clean energy for production of energy. Nuclear Power Plant is a
thermal power station that uses nuclear reactor as a heat source to generate steam that
drives the steam turbine connected to the generator to produce electricity, nuclear power
plants is a clean energy source since it do not contribute to the production of carbon
dioxide. Nuclear power plant could provide electricity that will help stabilize society’s need
of electricity without production of carbon dioxide.

3. As a future mechanical engineer one way to reduce carbon emission that causes the
global warming is to build nuclear power plants that is a clean source of energy that do not
produce carbon emission when operating. I focuses more on energy conservation to
answer these three question since during our plant visit one destination of our trip that I
was impressed is the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant located in morong Bataan, during our
tour I realized that in building power plant safety of the society or people leaving near the
power plant must be ensure since nuclear power plant is dangerous when not operated
correctly and to develop an implementation plan it is important for us to apply engineering
principles and practices that we have learned in our study to solve complex problems and
to identify problems and impacts that it will bring in the society and environment.
