removed from their homes
of 13 years.
The council is seeking
an eviction notice in order
to sell the land to sports
company Extreme, who
will spend £22.5m on
redeveloping the site into
an extreme sports centre.
Sheffield City Council has
stated that Extreme would
not consider redeveloping
without possession of the
traveller occupied land.
Diane Barrett, who
is part of the traveller
community, created the
petition. She described
what the site means to her
and her family: “It’s my
home. It’s my family. It’s
my children’s home.
“My children go to a local
school so they might have
to leave their school which

issue of harassment
for women in public
and on the streets.
The Know the Line
movement, launched
on 24 November at
the Quaker Meeting
House, hopes to
empower women to
speak out and feel safe
in reporting incidents.
Maureen Storey, the
director of domestic
violence charity
Vida Sheffield, said:
“Everyone has the
right to feel safe.
Sexual harassment
shouldn’t be a ‘normal’
part of daily life for
women and girls. They
don’t have to put up
with it, and we want
to encourage them to
report these incidents
as hate crimes.”

Hallam FC side.
The fundraising match,
which was hosted by ex-
England star Chris Waddle
on 8 October, was set up
to raise money for Bluebell
Wood Children’s Hospice,
who Scott’s family turned
to for support after his
death in March.
Mick Grant, Scott’s U16
manager and organiser
of the event, said: “It’s
absolutely brilliant. It’s
massive for the family, you
can’t comprehend what
they’ve been through.
“It was something we
collectively thought of,
but I think for the family
it’s more about repaying
