Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) 2.1 Origin of RUAS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, RUAS (registered as M.S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences) created by an act in the State of Karnataka, India, came into existence in December 2013. The University is sponsored by Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) (GEF (M)) -a public charitable trust. The University was created by transferring “M.S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (1999), M.S. Ramaiah College of Hotel Management (1993), M.S. Ramaiah College of Pharmacy (1992), M.S. Ramaiah Dental College (1991) and M.S. Ramaiah Advanced Learning Centre (2012)” hitherto owned by GEF (M). The University offers student centric degree programme at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral levels. The University programme are designed to ensure that the graduates of the University are equipped with the theoretical knowledge and skills expected by industry and business. The University has five verticals - Academic Studies; Academic Research; Sponsored Research; Training and Lifelong Learning and Techno-Centre- involved in Consultancy, Product Design and Development, and Entrepreneurship Development. ‘The University provides holistic experience to the students of the University, as the student in addition to his/her academic programme has an opportunity to participate in research, skill development, real life problem solving and entrepreneurship The University has Faculties of: Engineering and Technology (FET), Art and Design (FAD), Management and Commerce (FMC), Hospitality Management and Catering Technology (FHMCT), Pharmacy (FPH), Dental Sciences (FDS) and Science and Humanities (FSH). The Sanskrit word for Swan is Hamsa or Hansa, and is the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Wisdom. The Swan symbolizes purity par excellence and fidelity. The two Swans represent symbol of life, fertility and beauty. The Book represents the Knowledge and the Lamp with the rays represents devotion and fulfillment. Faculty of Engineering and Technology The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) was earlier known as the M.S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (MSRSAS) and was established in 1999. MSRSAS offered Master's Degree programme in Engineering & Technology and Business Management in collaboration with Coventry University of UK until the establishment of the University. Now, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programme in Engineering and Technology areas. The Faculty interacts with industry and businesses offering Engineering Consultancy, Product Design and Development services, along with training modules to practicing professionals.
