Students’ prior knowledge and experience:

Students have been creating crafts and worksheets about their father’s in other class subjects and will be involved
in a Father’s Day stall.

Preparation and Resources:

- Card paper (pre-prepare the card paper into cards).
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencils & Textas
- Empty Jars
- Photos
- Decoration materials (feathers, sequins, glitter etc.)
- Coupon handout
- Photocopy students’ original photos so as to hand back original copy to students at the end of the day.

Catering for diversity (detail any adjustments considerations for educational/resource adjustments)

- Assisting students who are not creatively inclined by prompting them with ideas about what they could
decorate their jar with, what would be a good thing to write in their card or ideas to put into their coupon
- Pre-cut coupon booklet and any other materials for students who struggle to cut.
- Pre-prepare an example card and coupon booklet as a scaffold.
Timing: Learning Experiences:

1. Introduction: (How will I engage the learners?)

11:05 - Ask students what does the word ‘father/dad’ mean to them? Ask students to think about
the key points they love about their father/dad and write down these key points; also write
down coupon ideas to place into their coupon books (10 minutes).
11:15 - Allow students to write a draft of what they will write in their cards. Once finished the draft,
students need to edit their letters (10 minutes).

2. Sequence of learning experiences: (What will you do to help the students achieve the
learning objectives? What tasks and activities will the students be involved in to help
achieve the learning objectives?)

This section of the lesson will be shared between myself and the other prac student.
- Once draft of their letters and coupon ideas are completed, students will then be placed
into 2 groups; first group to create and write their cards with myself and the second group
to start decorating their jars with photocopies of each individual students’ photo and also
with decorating materials with the other prac student (20 minutes).
- The second rotation will commence after 20 minutes.

3. Lesson conclusion: (How will you summarise the learning and relate it to the lesson

- Students will then place their finished coupon booklets into the decorated jar and attach the
card to the jar.
