CHAPTER ONE

Matthew 24:14And this gospel of the kingdom sha/J be preached in al/ the worldfor a witness
unto al/ nations; and then sha/J the end come.

The Gospel is the Message of Christ. It is the Message of the Bible.

The word 'gospef means "Good news11 i.e. Glad tidings.

Solomon describes good news in Proverbs Chapter 25

Proverbs25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from afar country.

Jesus taught and preached the Gospel (Good news).

Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about al/ Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing al/ manner of sickness and al/ manner of disease among
the people.
Matthew9:35 And Jesus went about al/ the cities and vii/ages, teaching in their synagogues, and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the
people.

And he commanded His Disciples (The Church) to preach the same!

Mark16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into al/ the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.

- In Acts 8 Peter and John did.

Acts8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to
Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many vii/ages of the Samaritans.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 3

- Paul and Barnabas did

Acts14:6 They were aware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaania, and unto the
region that lieth round about:

Verse 1And there they preached the gospel.

Verse 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they
returned again to Lystra, and to Jconium, and Antioch.

- Paul was committed to it.

Romans1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of Gad unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

11 11
He calls it the Good news of Christ. God had preached the same to Abraham.

Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith,
preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So why would the message be called Good news?

Is it about salary increase? ...Of gifts of houses, of cars or property? ...Of Physical and
temporal happiness and comfort?

Note: For the news to be good it has to be relevant to the 1hearers 1 condition.

Since this news is for ALL creatures, it must have a SINGULAR application and relevance
to humanity.

Not everyone is poor and in need of a financial raise! Not all need physical therapy for
11 11
sickness! Not all have common physical conditions requiring the same news !

Hence for this message to be for all, it has to affect what is an "All "condition.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are
under the Jaw: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before
God.

The whole world is guilty before God.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page4

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

All (the whole of humanity) is found in sin and fallen short of God's glory.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so
death passed upon all men,for that all have sinned:

Adams sin has been passed upon all. All men are sinners in Adam.

Sin is the common identity of man!

- Not poverty.
- Not sickness.
- Not illiteracy.
- Not Financial bondage.
For sinners are rich, Sinners are healthy, Sinners are literate and Sinners are financially
sound.

- Sinners however are far from God. Sinners are estranged from God.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us.
9 Much more then, being nowjustified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For it when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much
more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

- Sinners are enemies of God. Just as Adam in the garden, sinners are cast out of God's
presence. By Adam's transgression a man can only stand guilty and without a right
before God.

Hence the Gospel (Good news) is described with certain well-defined adjectives.

Acts20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I
might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lard Jesus, to
testify the gospel of the grace of God.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 5

It is called the Good news of the grace of God. It will announce God's grace. Grace is the
gift of God - freely given without conditions.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of God unto
salvation

The message is a Person! This person is the Gift of God.

Romans 10:15 ...,how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring
glad tidings of good things.

Ephesians 6:15 echoes this.

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

The message is Peace. Peace is a person!

Ephesians2:14 For he is our peace.

Romans 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son.

The Christ is the Son. God gave Him to us, He is grace to us.

This is our peace. Hence the Gospel is the News of Jesus Christ.

How He affects sinful humanity. We must come into the fullness of the knowledge of
the Gospel.

Note: We shall be looking at the Facts, Charter, Trust, Ministry and Thrust of this news
as we study!

Now, Paul helps us shed light on this.

1Corinthians15:1- Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto
you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The Gospel was preached in a promissory way in the four Gospels, fully unveiled and
preached in the epistles.

The Facts of the Gospel will be woven around certain events:

• The Incarnation of God, The Word, who is called The Son. God identifies with
humanity. Isaiah says "God with Us"- Isaiah 7:14
•His Humanity- Explained in the 4 gospels. He was born, ate food as man, slept as man.
For God never sleeps (Psalms 121: 3-4).He was tempted as man (Hebrews 4:15), God
never is tempted with sin (James1:13). He was anointed by the Spirit. God is not
enabled! But as a man, He was (Luke4:18/ Acts10:38).
•He died. He was killed; crucified.
• He was buried.
• He Rose from the Dead.

In these Events are the Facts that have CHANGED humanity forever and irreversibly! The
Gospel is in these events; the Good news is found herein.

Jesus is Lord,

We win!

CHAPTER TWO

The Gospel of Christ is the Message of the Church.

It is the Good news about Christ.

This Good news isn't the incarnation.

It is also not the Anointing of Jesus.

It is not His temptation in the Wilderness.

These facts sure lay the foundation for the good news but are not the news itself.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the
glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

It was for man to see and behold His humanity. This as important as it is will not save.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with thefeeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

His overcoming temptation is the triumph of His divinity in His humanity.

Yet this is NOT the good news that saves. It is rather His witness and testimony.

Acts10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went
about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

His ministry is worth studying (His works, the Healing ministry, the Miracles), they make

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 8

Him stand out. Yet NOTHING here will save sinful man.

The Gospel MUST be witnessed with these incontrovertible facts but the message itself
is situated within 3 (and consequently 4) MAJOR events.

Here is the Good news that saves-

1Corinthians 15: 1-Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto
you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
verse2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye
have believed in vain.
verse 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our
sins according to the scriptures;
verse 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

His Death! His Burial! His Resurrection and Consequently His Ascension to the Fathers
Right Hand!

In His Death on the Cross we see the unfolding of Yahweh's love. The very Son of God is
left to die. He is crucified; Hanged; Killed; Laid Bare; Naked.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The 'giving of Jesus' is not the incarnation! God gave Him on the Cross. He gave Him to
die. The preceding verses help to explain this.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be
lifted up:
verse 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Paul explains this "Giving".

Romans 8:32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all,
will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page9

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death.

To pay for sins will ONLY take one action, one price: Death. Jesus• death therefore will
bear Adams corporeal transgression. Adam's offence led to death.

The savior MUST DIE!

Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou
mayest freely eat:
verse 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:for in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The result of Adams sins was (is) death.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so
death passed upon all men,for that all have sinned:
The kind of penalty will be what God meted out in the garden.

If Jesus will suffer for us,He would suffer with us and suffer like us.
The state of man would remain the same if he did not. God said sin would bring death.

Many have thought and even taught this death is the separation of man (the spirit of
man) from his body. What they describe however is death in the body. That describes
physical death.

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead.

It is important to note that in the Garden Man was yet in his body.
So if death passed upon him as spoken of in Genesis 2: 16, He must have died just as
God said.

Note: If the death God referred to was his spirit departing his body just like Lazarus at
his demise, then perhaps the serpent was correct.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 10

For it said "You shall not surely die".

Adam still spoke and lived naturally upon his sin. Man surely died in the garden.
For death is a separation not extinction. When a man dies in the natural, He departs his
body to exist elsewhere either in heaven or in hell.

But he still exists. In the garden, man was separated from God. He left Gods presence.
This is what death is!

This will eventually affect his body. But Adam lived 930 years in his body. But he was
dead; physically alive but spiritually dead. He was talking to God, but from a distance. He
was hearing God but from a distance.

Paul teaches it this way:

Ephesians 2: 1-And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of ourflesh, fulfilling
the desires of theflesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as
others.

Dead but walking! Dead but talking! Dead towards God but alive towards sin!

See Adam's observation about his state:

When he had Seth, he discovered by observation what had happened.

Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness,
and after his image; and called his name Seth:

He now birthed sons in his fallen image- Death. For Seth had a son named Enos. Enos
means captive and slave of death.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 11

This was a discovery.

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses1 even over them that had not
sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression1 who is thefigure of him that was to come.

This death is the separation of man from God! Jesus therefore would have to taste this
death to pay for man. His death for us was not limited to the separation of spirit from
body. It MUST be separation from God!

Let us see what happened on the cross:

Matthew27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voicel saying1 Eli1 Eli1 lama
sabachthani? that is to say1 My God1 my God1 why hast thou forsaken me?

God had abandoned His son. They were separated.

Jesus was not lamenting. He was declaring His status. He was DEAD yet speaking. He
was dead on the cross. He was quoting the scriptures. He came to fulfill it. David had
foreseen this.

Within David's travails lay the Prophecy of The Christ's sufferings.

Psalms 22:1- My God1 my God1 why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping
me1 and from the words of my roaring?

All of those at the scene were dumbfounded. They NEVER saw what was happening.

It will take the Spirit to unveil this event and explain its relevance to us. When the Spirit
came, He showed us the reality of Jesus' cry. The Spirit oftruth in the Epistles plainly
explains the Cross to us.

Let us hear Him Through the lips of Paul:

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 12

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed usfrom the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:for
it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

He became a CURSED thing.

Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which
the Lord thy God giveth theefor an inheritance.

Paul saw this here. The Spirit showed him the curse in the Garden was on Him.

But here is the difference;

In the Garden Man moved from God. On the Cross, God moved from Man, His Son.
God called out for man in the Garden. Man (Jesus His Son) called out for God on the
Cross.

The former was Man enduring the penalty for his sin, the latter is a substitution.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.

On the Cross Jesus becomes SIN for us.

Isaiah 53:3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were ourfaces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord
hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

God put man's INIQUITY on His son. He must bear the grief, sorrow and travail of man's
iniquity. He MUST be abandoned, separated from God, His Father.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 13

This is not physical death. This is Spiritual!

For three days he must be without God.

He was not cast out of His presence like Adam. God's presence left Him for our sake.
Just like Adam, He died and then His body died.
He would have to die first before he could physically leave his body physically.
This death happened on the cross hours before his body died.

Here he bears our iniquity and sins.

John1:29...1behold the Lamb of God1 which taketh away the sin of the world.

On the Cross He is the Lamb of Jehovah. The good news of the cross is intriguing;

-Another's pain becomes our gain.

- His Cry is our Joy.
- His Sorrow, Our triumph.
- His wounds, Our Health.

For He has taken our place!

This is the Good news, that we might take His place.

God Abandoned Him, so He will never abandon us. He put All Sin on Jesus to bear the
consequences, Hence NEVER again would we bear them!

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us1 which was
contrary to us1 and took it out of the way1 nailing it to his cross;

All Judgment is now on Him. Justice is meted out to a Holy Being.

Unholy men can now have access to God on His merit and not theirs I

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us1 in that1 while we were yet sinners1 Christ
died for us 10 For it when we were enemies1 we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son1
THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 14
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

It was for US! The full story of Man's redemption does NOT end on the cross.

The Christ must stand in Man's place now and meet eternity's demands.

He must suffer for Three Days and Three Nights.

We have sung 11Lord because of me you gave up your life, On the Cross of Calvary
shedding your blood for me11 • Indeed, we have not sung the Word.

On the Cross, we have heard Jesus say '...It is finished' in John19:30, it's imperative
however to note that we must put scriptures side-by-side to understand He was NOT
referring to His redemptive work.

We shall examine this as we patiently study.

From the lips of Jesus-

Matthew 12:40 For as Janas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the
Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, 0fools, and slaw of heart ta believe all that the prophets
have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ ta have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures
the things concerning himself.

He would not enter His glory until the third day.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet
with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Mases, and in the
prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 15

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from
the dead the third day:

He must bear man's separation for THREE days.

He must go to where sinners go.

He must be FULLY identified with man in the present and after life.
Just as the killing of the spotless (sinless) animal on the Day of Atonement, the sacrifice
of Jesus on the cross is only the beginning.

As the blood of the animal must be taken before God under the Law, On the Cross Jesus
was slain...God had left Him and would do so until till all the demands are met.

Only at this point would Jesus' blood be offered! This grueling account is grim and
almost mind-numbing...but therein lies our redemption. The separation of God from
Jesus provides legal grounds for the reconciliation of Man with God.

For The Gospel is wrapped around;

- What happened from The Cross to the grave,

- From The place of the Dead (Hades, called hell in Modern translations),

- To the resurrection and onwards to the ascension to the throne!

Jesus is Lord,

We win!

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 16

CHAPTER THREE

The Gospel is the Power of God!

The News in itself saves. Its facts when understood unveils the Father-Heart of a Love
God. It is the Message of the Love of God. It shows us in detail how much Mercy and
Grace the sinner (Man) was given.

The Events of the Cross are pointers and not final in the acts of God's saving power.

For Christ must suffer. He must suffer for three days and three nights.

He hung on the cross for some hours. But he was dead for three days.

1Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Death explained:

His death was first and primarily spiritual. It was only after this that he died physically.
For in the Garden man's penalty was thus pronounced.

The Hebrew translation says "In Dying you shall die". In other words, man would die
spiritually and then physically afterwards.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 17

Without a separation from God, physical death could never have been created much
less have the ability to hold man.

Death is an Enemy.

Jesus Died; spiritually separated from God and then physically died.

In Spiritual death God leaves Him; Abandons Him; Moves away from Him.

In Physical death, He, Jesus departs His body.

John 19:30 WhenJesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It isfinished: and he bowed
his head, and gave up the ghost.

- He is now dead. Where did he depart to? Heaven?

If this were so, it meant He never suffered for three days. This would mean he did not
suffer, not even for a day.

- Did he remain in the grave? If He did, it meant it was an Hollywood script.

Sin then would not have been portrayed in a serious light as it is. It would come across
as the makings of a comic. A man cannot be dead if he yet remains in his body.

The manner in which Jesus died and in what state will tell us His destination!

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.

He was not a sinner. Much more than that, He bore the sinners grief. He bore his state.

- He bore the sinners' Punishment.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 18

- He was made SIN!

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye

know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet
for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

- He became poor.

This is not referring to earthly possessions as some have mischievously tried to do in an

attempt to preach material wealth, rather he laid aside His status; His glory; His
fellowship with the Father. The absence of this is poverty!

- We were all poor.

Both the millionaire and "nothing"naire... We were poor because of sin.

He was rich because of God. He and God were in fellowship. Now He is made poor on
the cross, so that we might be rich. This wasn't about his earthly possessions as He
wasn't robbed or stripped of the same. To be rich is to be in fellowship with God!

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed usfrom the curse of the Jaw, being made a cursefor us:for
it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

He is CURSED- An accursed object.

He must never be in God's presence this way. Under the Law, this accursed thing is
removed from the land (Deuteronomy 21:23}. In this state, Jesus MUST go to where
spiritually dead people go. He must suffer their pains. On earth, this is to happen for
three days and three nights. Outside the Earth, we must never forget the sun does not
dwell there. It would not be three days and three nights. It would be timeless.

Luke's account on the cross has left some wondering if Jesus went into a glorious bliss
after His physical death. If He did, then we would have some "divine" tricks played on

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 19

our souls.

Let us listen to Luke.

Luke 24:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in
paradise.

Jesus was talking to the believing criminal who had believed Christ died without sin.
He had to be saved. He called Him lord.

Not knowing that the original language of the New Testament (Greek) had no commas,
many have conferred divine inspiration on the placement of the commas by the
translators. Commas came centuries later. Jesus never went to paradise that day.

His kingdom came ONLY when He rose from the dead!

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the
Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Luke24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to
risefrom the dead the third day:

Today or 'this day' or 'that day' was used severally to describe a time or times and not
always a particular day of the week.

John 16:23,26 KJV

{23] And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall
ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. [
26] At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for
you:

11
'That day' meant" That time, that period

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 20

It's used to describe a time and activities.

Hebrews 3:7 KJV

[7] Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Not a particular day of the week.

Jesus's today was "this day" or "this time". Referring to the day/time of redemption!
His death, burial and his resurrection;

I say to You, this time you shall be with me..•

- Jesus went to HELL.

Peter's account will help us. Peter had the benefit of Jesus explaining to them for
40days. He knew where he went to. Let us listen to Peter.

Acts 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is
on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in
hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see
corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make mefull of joy with thy
countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead
and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the
fruit of his loins, according to theflesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell,
neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Jesus was not left in Hell. He went there but never remained there. He rose from there.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 21

1
He fully identified with man. He had to bear the punishment in all of Judgment s wrath
and fury. In the same breath, Jonah had prophetically spoken the same things.

Jonah 2:2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me;
out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

Jonah was not there when this happened! The Spirit testified in him spoke of Christ.

We listen to Paul on the same subject.

Romans 10:6 But the righteousness based onfaith [imputed by God and bringing right
relationship with Him] says, Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into Heaven? that is, to
bring Christ down;
verse] Or who will descend into the abyss? that is, to bring Christ upfrom the dead [as if we
could be saved by our own efforts].(AMP)

He descended. He went down, just like the sinners he substituted. He went into the
abyss. Abyss means hell, chaos, darkness.

Ephesians 4:9 [But He ascended?] Now what can this, He ascended, mean but that He had
previously descended from [the heights of] heaven into [the depths], the lower parts of the earth
(AMP}.

He descended into the same place as Abraham, Lazarus and the rich man. He went to
where spiritually dead people went to. He would remain there for three days and three
nights. He was separated from His Father.

He never ascended to Him till the third day. He would suffer the pangs and pains of Sin 1s
punishment. His burial is death. It is no victory as yet.

Romans6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death.

He was buried in man1s sins. These three days stand for eternity. Justice did not count
calendars outside the earth's clock. That was suffering in Eternityl

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 22

He has thus suffered for Man's sins yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever!

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of
death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every
man.
10 For it became him,for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many
sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise
took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death,
that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage

This is the gospel. He has tasted death for all of us.

- From the cross to the place of the dead...Hell; called Hades.

Hence all Old Testament saints were released from the place. For they had believed the
message of Christ preached unto them.

The writer of Hebrews called them "theSpirits of Just men1 perfected at last" (Hebrews
12:23).

Matthew 27: 51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared
unto many.

The temple ceased to be God's legal place for dealings .

...For "It is finished". Jesus was referring to the law Fulfilled.

His death ended the law.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 23

That was the High priest's last official assignment. His last sacrifice!

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Now as He rose, the Saints of old rose with Him.

The gates of Hell could not prevail. That means the gates of hell could not withstand. It
is not an offensive word but a defensive one.

We still speak of His death. He will stay dead for three days. And when He is done, our
Joy will be full. If he has suffered for me, when I believe Him, IMUST not suffer the
same.

Ican rest assured and know that when I am done on earth and my spirit departs my
body, it goes NOT to the place of the spiritually dead, for My Saviour, Lord, Advocate,
Redeemer, Brother, Friend and Substitute has been there for me!

John 5:24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words
[who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent
Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur
sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out
of death into life.{AMP}.

This is done on perfectly legal grounds. Jesus has been judged for us. He has been there.
We are beneficiaries of His pains, His grieves, His descent to Hell -The place of the
spiritually dead.

If He has saved me, then Iam saved from the Judgment of Hell.

Jesus is Lord,

We Win!

CHAPTER FOUR

The mind-boggling details of The Gospel clearly demonstrate God's love for the sinner.
The very facts of the act show that love is more than an emotive affection.
It is the domain of sacrifice. He never loved us because of His great speeches or
promises. He loved us by what He did. Love thus, is to identify with and sacrifice for.

This is what Jesus did. This is how He loved.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 But God shows and clearly proves His [own] Jove for us by thefact that while we
were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.(AMP}

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and
gave Himself upfor us, a [a/slain offering and sacrifice to God Uor you, so that it became] a
sweet fragrance.

If he truly loved sinners, He would identify with them FULLY and COMPLETELY.
This Love of God is the Gospel we preach.

1Corinthians 15:1- Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto
you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The work of redeeming man began on the cross for that was where Jesus was made Sin.
He never sinned. Sin was laid on Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 25

As prophesied by Isaiah, God put Him to grief and laid our iniquity on Him.

lPeter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree...

To bear means to take responsibility for the actions of other people. Jesus' words on the
cross were moving as they were heart rending. They were not the words of a Son.
They were the words of an offering - a sacrifice. Howbeit a son who had been made a
sacrifice!

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thouforsaken me?

Note: Jesus usually addressed God as Father. On the cross He called Him "My God".
He was facing Justice here. The bells of Judgment rang loud and clear.

The Judge is God!

With this concluded, He descends to where sinners go and;

- He must suffer for three days. He must bear sins for three nights.
- He must be away from fellowship.
- This he must do if we are to be saved.
- On the third day, He triumphed over death.

He rose from the dead.

Peter preached it this way.

Acts2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among
you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken,
and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 26

he should be holden of it.
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the lord always before myface, for he is on my
right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in
hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see
corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make mefull of joy with thy
countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead
and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the
fruit of his loins, according to theflesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell,
neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Let us listen to Paul's explanation of the same facts.

Acts 13:29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the
tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
30 But God raised him from the dead:
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with himfrom Galilee toJerusalem, who
are his witnesses unto the people.
32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the
fathers,
33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it
is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
34 And as concerning that he raised him upfrom the dead, now no more to return to corruption,
he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see
corruption.
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God,fell on sleep, and was
laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 27

We must note that In the Resurrection of Jesus lies salient and foundational facts of our
redemption. To be raised from the Dead means to come back to the earth alive and
well. It means He must be seen alive. He must not come back in visions and revelations.
He must come back physically.

He came back to the earth alive!

Let us observe some details to know what happened after He rose from the dead, as His
Resurrection captures details we MUST all know and never forget.

Mary had gone to His grave to see His body, and while in her sojourn of research, He
finds her.

John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She,
supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me
where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herselt and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say,
Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not;for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my
brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and
your God.

The Greek translation actually says "Hold me no further".

She held on to Him. He was alive. She held a human being.

But since He had not fully accomplished His work, He had to fully fulfill the promise of
His resurrection.

'I Ascend to My father and Your Father.'

He was going to Heaven. He had been in Hell and was now raised up to fulfill the work
of redemption.

What was left to be done?

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 28

The scriptures tell us He became our High priest after He rose from the dead. The work
of the High priest is to offer sacrifices (blood) for sinners.

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto
him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

This sequence of events happened when He was glorified - raised from the dead.

Hebrews 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by
reason of death: 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable
priesthood.
He would live to be High priest!

This he would do after being raised from the dead by shedding His blood.

Note: Shedding of blood is not the outpouring of blood.

If it were so, it would leave us confused. This is because blood poured from Jesus on
several occasions.

- From His birth, His circumcision, His travails in Gethsemane, the bruises of the whips
from the soldiers and the blood that poured on the cross.

This is NOT what it means to shed blood.

Shedding of blood is founded within the Old Testament, in types and shadows. It is done
ONLY by the High priest.

It refers to the sprinkling of blood on the Mercy seat. This is within the veil; the holiest
of all and this was accomplished out of the purview of the people.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 29

Only the High priest and Jehovah would be there.

It was done for the people but NOT in their presence.

Leviticus 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock1 and sprinkle it with his finger upon
the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with hisfinger
seven times.
15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering1 that isfor the people1 and bring his blood within
the vail1 and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock1 and sprinkle it upon the
mercy seat1 and before the mercy seat:

16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place 1 because of the uncleanness of the
children of Israeli and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he dofor the
tabernacle of the congregation1 that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make
an atonement in the holy place1 until he come out1 and have made an atonement for himselt
and for his household 1 and for all the congregation of Israel.

The High priest does this on the Day of Atonement.

Jesus therefore must do this as our High priest.

Not of Human buildings as this was a shadow. He must take the blood, His blood to
heaven; The True tabernacle.

Let us read the book of Hebrews on this.

The Book of Hebrews relates with the law. It shows us Christ from the ceremonies of the
law.

Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and
more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the
holy placel having obtained eternal redemption for us.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 30

He entered into the Holiest of all with His blood. This does not happen at the cross.

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of
blood is no remission.
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with
these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are thefigures of the
true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

The shedding of Jesus' blood happened in Heaven. To make a way, an access for us!
Now we can stand in God's presence.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of
Jesus,

Levi dealt with the Earthly temple. Jesus went into the Heavenly.

Moses built the Earthly temple according to the pattern of the Heavenly.

Hebrews 8:5 Whoserve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was
admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou
make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

The Heavenly preceded the Earthly.

Adam's sin took him {us) out of God's presence.

If man was to be restored and Righteousness granted and sin being taken away, it had
to happen in Heaven.

Jesus shed His blood in Heaven to redeem us.

Interestingly, we have often let our imaginations run wild. When we discuss the blood of
Jesus we often imagine a bowl of blood, offered to God.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 31

We must think on the Word and not THINK for the Word.

Jesus' blood speaks of His life. His human life -Jesus Himself.

Mary did not see Him with a vessel of blood.

11
For Jesus said 1 GO to my Father".

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of theflesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

The blood of the Old Testament is to foreshadow life.

The book of Hebrews clarifies this for us.

Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the
figures of the true; but into heaven itselt now to appear in the presence of God for us:

He therefore was the Blood - His resurrected self.

Unlike Levi who would sprinkle blood on the Mercy seat and leave.

It is a seat meant for someone to SIT on and grant mercy and intercession.

Hebrews calls it the Throne of Grace.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.

Under the Law, the blood of the animal sat there.

In Heaven, JESUS Himself SATI The sprinkling of His blood is Jesus sitting right there.
He is seated at the right Hand of the Father- the Mercy Seat. He would have no need to
come and go repeatedly. He would sit ONCE and remain Seated.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 32

For This redemption is ONCE and For All! Eternal, Forever!

Hebrews 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same
sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand
of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
They stood to offer, He SAT to offer.

They came yearly, He came ONCE.

He saves ONCE AND FOR ALL, FOREVER.

His intercession is His Seat.

It is not a continual pleading with God.

It is a ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL shedding of Blood.

It is a once and forever redemption.

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by
him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Uttermost means ETERNALLY. Once a man believes this Gospel, He is saved forever and
eternally.

Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them
that obey him;

When you obey (believe) the gospel, you become saved eternally.

This High priest's work is not done standing; it is done SITTING, RESTING.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 33

Finished, Done, Accomplished, and Settled!

This is the Gospel. When we speak of the Blood of Jesus today, we thus speak of the
eternal offering. We speak of His resurrection where He lives continually.

Seeing this, our hands raised, our hearts filled and soul stirred ... Our Christ has traced
our motions; He has come over time to grant us outside time His full love.

This is the Passion of The Christ. He shed His blood where it mattered most - God's
presence. It was not in its similitude in Moses' temple but in Heaven.

The Gospel preaches Eternal redemption, Eternal Salvation.

The Shedding of Jesus' blood saves forever!

Jesus is Lord,

We Win!

CHAPTER FIVE

This Gospel is a specific account of what Christ Did for us. The news and very essence of
the message is good. We have since seen that the message has its own facts; its details;
It has its irrefutable accounts.

If it can be disputed, it's not good anymore.

1Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2- By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain.
3- For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4- And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

These facts are so important and crucial to the Faith that Paul reported this way.

1Corinthians 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also
vain
1Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

If we are unsure of these facts, we are as the rest of mankind still in Adam's
transgression, spiritually dead. We would thus remain in eternity, dead.

We thus, must never attempt to preach this Gospel with our wisdom in our sweet or
sugar-coated tongue(s).

We must never treat it like Cicero's speeches, attempting to sway the audience in
oratory and high - sounding delivery.

We must not add Obama's slogans, Steve Job's brilliance, Bill Gate's wealth, or

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 35

Armstrong's landing on the Moon.

If we do, we obliterate the very delicate details wherein lies humanity's salvation.

1Corinthians 2-And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of
wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 -For I determined not to know any thing
among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3- And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4- And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in
demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 -That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Christ and
Him crucified!

Every preacher, laity and clergy alike MUST be determined thus just like Paul, NEVER to
have an Audience sensitive - appeal "gospel", rather a Christ-centered, Redemption
focused message.

If we do not preach the message with this caution, we would be producing very large
numbers of Non-believing Church members!

We have looked at the facts of the Gospel as seen in His death, burial, resurrection, and
ascension to the Father's right Hand.

We proceed further to examine THE CHARTER OF THE GOSPEL.

All sovereigns have a charter. This is a binding word, bond, agreement, or contract
which specifies the privileges, rights and basis of relationship. It makes the relationship,
organization, society not only definite but also reliable, dependable, and unique.

The Charter forms the basis of trust and comfort. The Gospel has its Charter.

God gave it.

It is based on this that the evangelist, the preacher is so sure of what happens when the

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 36

news is received. When we herald this news we have a sure bet of what happens to the
hearers who receive it.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be
damned.

To be saved is to be believe the Gospel.

To be damned (condemned) is to reject it.

Note: Baptized in the preceding scripture means to be baptized into Christ's body -The
Church by His Spirit. (Matthew 3:11, Acts1:5, 1Corinthians12:13, Galatians3:27).

The Gospel is predicated upon a firm commitment given By the Sovereign God.

What is this Commitment?

Paul spells it out in very clear terms:

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new.
18- And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given
to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19- To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himselt not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

This assertion is very apt. The Gospel is a message of reconciliation.

Man has not approached God for this. God has come to man and He came through His
son. He offered help. He offered a Relationship.

Man is not seeking God. God seeks for man. In His son, He looks for man.

Verse 19 is the Core of this message.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 37

It is the very heart beat ofthe Gospel. It is why Christ died. It is why He bore our sins,
why He died for three days. This is why He rose from the dead. It is the Key word in this
Charter.

Some have asked their audience to confess their sins to be saved.

They have ignored God's counsel, His Charter, His commitment. He never asked us to
obtain any form of such admission or commitment from our audience. He asked us to
tell them His! When they believe this, they are saved.

Let us see verse 19 in other translations.

2 Corinthians 5:19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world
tofavor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling
them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration tofavor). He has
cancelled sins through Jesus. (Amplified Bible)

In other words, God was reconciling the world to himself through Christ, by not counting
people's sins against them. He has trusted us with this message of reconciliation. He will not
keep a record of sins against our us. (Common English Bible)

19I mean that God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God
did not hold people guilty for their sins. And he gave us this message of peace to tell people.
(Easy to Read Version}

This is beautiful. He does NOT hold them guilty for their sins! This is the Commitment
from God that makes us preach this message with gusto.

We are not to extract a sinner's prayer from our audience! We are not to get them
crying and sorry for sins. We are to tell them in clear terms - GOD IS NOT COUNTING
YOUR SINS AGAINST YOU IHE HAS PUNISHED JESUS FOR YOU I

This is the crux of the message.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 38

Jesus has PAID for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD. So No one goes to hell because of
their sins! People go to hell because they have not received and believed the Gospel.

Mark16:16-He that believes NOT is condemned.

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God? Absolutely No!

Rather Sinners in the Hands of a Loving1 Mercijul1 Kind1 Compassionate God, Who IS
NOT ANGRY ANYMORE!

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world. Jesus took away the sin of the whole world!

Some have called it "Cheap Grace".

In their sarcasm they have, just like Caiaphas the High priest, Agrippa the King, and
Festus spoken Gods mind unknowingly.

It is FREELY GIVEN. IT IS CHEAP GRACE.

- We do not "sow" a 500 dollar bill to get this.

- We do not give seed faith or first fruits for this.

IT IS FREE, CHEAP AND COMMON. Available all the time!

Romans 8:32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us a/11
will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?

So free, so cheap, so available. Tell the sinner, 'God is NOT angry with you anymore.

He sent Jesus to die for you. He died. He paid for your sins. Forgiveness is ours (Yours).'

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 39

The sinner is not to confess his sins. God already did that, by putting it on Jesus. The
sinner is to Confess Christ and He is saved.

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that
is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9- That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10- For with the heart man believeth
unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

God has put ALL sins on Jesus. This is the Charter of the Gospel. He will not break His
word.

Jesus is Lord,

We Win!

CHAPTER SIX

The Gospel is God's commitment to man. It is God's outstretched Arm. It is His promise
Fulfilled.

The facts speak for themselves. The facts of The Gospel are the basis for faith. Its details
evolved in very apt terms to settle the demands of Justice.

We must NEVER toy with the details. We must not be found referring to them casually.
We MUST be preaching the details in every service and in every sermon.

lCorinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2- By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain.
3- For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 -And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

These events are the events that make it Christ's Faith-Christianity!

- Peter at one point trivialized this truth.

He attempted to draw Jesus into emotive desires. He got a sharp rebuke.

Matthew 16:21From that timeforth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must
go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be
killed, and be raised again the third day.
22- Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be itfar from thee, Lord: this shall
not be unto thee.
23- But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me:
for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

This was SATAN! To speak lightly of the sufferings of Christ, is of men; of Satan.
THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page41
It is anti-Christ!

Jesus looked at His beloved and condemned Satan! It is that serious.

He called some folks fools. He describes them in that light for not seeing the import of
these facts. The details are the Fiber, backbone structure of the bible.

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, 0fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets
have spoken:
26- Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27- And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures.

The Gospel is God's commitment to man. It is God's outstretched Arm. It is His promise
Fulfilled. The facts speak for themselves. The facts of the Gospel are the basis for faith.
Its details evolved in very apt terms to settle the demands of Justice. We must NEVER
toy with the details. We must not be found referring to them only. We MUST be
preaching the details In Every service and in every sermon.

1Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2- By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in
memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3- For I delivered unto you
first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; 4 -And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the
scriptures: These events are the events that make it Christ's Faith-Christianity!

Some have seen movies such as 'The Passion of The Christ' and have wept .

For what? Pitying Jesus? Feeling for Him? That's foolishness, frivolous. It is at best
carnal. You should be rejoicing! Without His sufferings you are Hell-bound. Damnation is
certain!

We have sung "I don't know why Jesus loved me/died".

If you still do not know why, then you need very special prayers.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page42

He died to save you from eternal damnation! Just like those folks on the road to
Emmaus, we have trivialized the sufferings of Christ.

Unknown to them (us), this is the MESSAGE of the entire bible. His sufferings- death
(spiritual and physical) and burial (Descent into Hades), His Glory-Resurrection and
Ascension (Bodily resurrection and Ascension to sit at the Fathers Right Hand)!

This is from where we MUST preach Holiness, Faith, Love, Success, Provision and any
sermon we might develop ...Christ and Him Crucified - lst Corinthians 2: 1-5.

In the previous post we looked at the Charter of the Gospel.

We saw it as God's firm commitment, His Bond, His Fidelity.

Paul tells us

In 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18- And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given
to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19- To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himselt not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

He will NOT count sins.He will NOT take record of sins.

The Gospel is a Gift; A gift of No - Condemnation.

Not knowing this, we have made our audience suffer in our ignorance. Many altar calls
sound more as though it was an altar prepared to slaughter the sinner.

We have asked men to 'give their lives to Christ"!

Where did we get that from? We have misrepresented God. Salvation is not giving your
life to Christ. The sinner is dead! Spiritually he is not alive.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page43

Ephesians 2:1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of ourflesh, fulfilling
the desires of theflesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as
others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are
saved;)

Romans5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so
death passed upon all men,for that all have sinned.

The sinner had/has NO life to give.

Salvation is not an exchange. It is a Gift to be received. God gives and we receive. God
received(s) NOTHING from the sinner.

Let us view scriptures in this regard.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

The audience is to believe the Gospel.

Jahn 1.:1.2 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name:

To receive is to take. It is to lay a hold upon. It is to accept

John 3:1.4 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be
lifted up:
15- That whosoever be/ieveth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page44

16- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

When you believe you receive! YOU HAVE.

You are not to give anything! In the Book of Acts, we have numerous examples.

We shall cite a few.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

To repent means to change your mind.

They were to turn their minds to the message. This is via believing it. When they did,
they RECEIVED!

Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the
word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Samaria RECEIVED. No one gave.

Only God gives at Salvation .He gave it All.

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not
with him alsofreely give us all things?

Salvation is NOT the Great Exchange!

He gives freely! If it were an exchange in that sense, it would not be free ad it would
have been conditional.

One classic instance is seen below:

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page45

Some modern-day altar calls would have said:
1. Accept that you are a sinner.
2. Confess your sins
3. Attend Church.
4. Believe.
5. Wear a scarf or stop putting on trousers!

They have simply re-enacted Moses':

1. Steps to salvation
2. Steps to Eternal Life
3. Doors

4.10 keys

RidiculousI

No Apostle taught procedures or steps. All that ended with Moses.

Jesus took all the steps in the temple and every other procedure. We are blessed by it.

Paul gave the Word; God's eternal commitment.

Why He Justified Abraham? Why He justified David, Abel?

Paul preached to believe and receive - Faith!

Acts16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house.

God1s commitment and Charter is Do nothing, Become nothing, Give nothing.

I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING!

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page46

God: 9- Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation leaves us simply giving glory to Christ alone. By Grace Alone! Through faith
Alone!

We have asked the sinner to surrender all. We have not been good ambassadors.

We should be preaching that God surrendered ALL.

The sinner is to believe and receive. We are not to earn anything. Jesus earned all for us.

The danger in 11Another Gospel" is (are) the fruits. Subtly we have evolved man-based
Christianity or better still Christian-ism! We have told men that God remains unmoved
until they do something.

They must give to be blessed. The dangerous money/materialistic message has

misrepresented God.

We have created a man initiative to God's power. We have lied!

We do not give to receive.Rather we receive to give.

God is the Giver When we know this, we will quit bowing at the altar of lies.

Sow a 60 dollar seed for blessing. It is interesting that this particular god is American
and loves dollars!

We would gladly give what He gave us.

He blessed (es) us without asking for anything! That is the Father of Our Lord Jesus
Christ.

That is The God of the Bible, Our Dad.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page47

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and [a]earthly blessing) come
to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the
need [b]be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in
abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

The Donor is God. We are only recipients and then co-participants of Grace. He gives
seed to the sower.

This strange concept of blessing probably emerged from "giving your life to Christ''.
Give God, Surrender to Him, then He will save you. That is Not the Gospel!

In His commitment to the sinner; He gives, surrenders and lays down His life. He gave
His Son. He gave His gifts.

He gave, gave and gavel

We must stop the circus show and start to believe God.

He gives, we receive. This is His Firm, unmovable, undeniable Commitment.

His Charter! This is His bond- His Word of honour.

Amen.

Jesus is Lord,

We Win!

CHAPTER SEVEN

The Gospel is the ONLY solution to humanity•s problem(s). Nothing outside it can EVER
help.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith tofaith: as it is written, Thejust
shall live byfaith.

Man's ONLY problem is how to stand before God. Adam•s sin produced a separation.

Sin brought death. Death is the separation.

Adam was sent out of the Ga rden, out of God 1s presence. He must NEVER come to God
without a mediator or mediation.

Something or someone must intercede for man. This is the difference between Cain and
Abel.

Abel's justification was never himself, his words, his deeds, his wealth or his
appearance.

His offering justified him!

Hebrews11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet
speaketh.

God's testimony of him was the offering.

He offered blood. God had taught their parents how to approach Him since the fall (The
transgression) .

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page49

Genesis 3:21 UntoAdam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed
them.

God covered them with blood. Cain refused to believe the Word. He came by works.

Genesis 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and
his countenance fell.
6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou
doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto
thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

The word 'sin' in verse 6 above is better translated sin offering in the Hebrew language.

He ought to have brought a sin offering - Blood. Blood is Life!

It symbolically stands for the Life of man. It foreshadowed the Life of Jesus.

The writer of Hebrews explains further.

Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling,
that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

The blood of Abel is the blood of the animal. The evidence of the Blood of Jesus not
seen.

The Substance of the blood of Jesus Hoped for {Hebrews 11:1) Jesus' blood is better.

Man since Adam will have to stand before God through a medium.

From; Noah, to Abram (Abraham), to Isaac, Jacob, till the Law was enacted to legalize it.

Sin brought separation, blood brought association and reconciliation. Anytime the Blood
was offered, sin was covered (Forgiven}. Man on that basis could relate with God and
stand before Him.

This was imperfect as It never gave back to man what Adam had lost.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 50

Hebrews 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the
promise:
40- God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made
perfect.

Perfection means wholeness, fullness. What lasts forever

Only Jesus' Blood could offer this.

Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

The blood of bulls and goats covered but NEVER took away sins. God wants to restore
fallen Man to His presence.

The regular blood offerings of the Patriarchs and under the Law showed clearly that sin
had not been taken away for good.

What then is the Good news? The Gospel I

1Corinthians15:1- Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto
you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have
believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world.

- He is the Lamb of God.

- He is not Abel's lamb.
- He takes AWAY SIN.
- He does this for the WHOLE WORLD.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 51

Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since thefoundation of the world: but now
once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
This is what Jesus did by His death- His redemptive Sacrifice.

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for manyfor the
remission of sins.

Remission means to TAKE AWAY; TO SEND AWAY. IT WILL NOT BE USED AGAINST YOU
ANYMORE.

This is The Charter of The Gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to
us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

- He will Grant reconciliation.

- He will give it freely.
- He will not count sins.
- He will not take record.

Not because He condones it.

Nol It has been taken away. It has been paid for.

1
God s anger with sin was vented on Jesus. All His fury was poured on Jesus.

All the punishment for sins has been DONE once and for all.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus
Christ once for all.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 52

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand
of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he
hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

The Sacrifice for sins has been DONE Once and For All.

To punish any man for sin any more will be unfaithful of the Holy God.

This would mean His Word cannot be depended upon.

But He cannot deny Himself!

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities
will I remember no more.

'Remember here means no recording is/will be done.

There is no taking to account. He says this before you commit them.

The Prophets foresaw this;

Psalms 103:12 As far as the east isfrom the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions
from us.

Micah 7:18-Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the
transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he
delighteth in mercy.
19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou
wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn
unto ourfathers from the days of old.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 53

This is the Blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God.

Sin will never stand between us and God.

A better description is to say that sin will never come between God and us.

Jesus has taken the place of Adam's sin. He now stands between us.

In Him we are justified!

God's commitment is to Forgive Man; to remit man's sins. To Grant Him right standing.

The Gospel preaches the taking away of Sins.

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations1 beginning at Jerusalem.

We preach remission of sins because God has forgiven. He has cancelled it.

We preach it because it is available.

Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness1 that through his name whosoever believeth in
him shall receive remission of sins.

No man goes to Hell because of sins.

They go there because of unbelief. To refuse this offer is to be condemned .

This is not a condemnation for sin, rather one for unbelief.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world1 that he gave his only begotten Son1 that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish 1 but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through
him might be saved. 18 He that be/ieveth on him is not condemned: but he that be/ieveth not is
condemned already1 because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God .

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 54

The condemnation is not to believe.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:for if I go not
away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

The Damnation is for unbelief. Unbelief is not to be persuaded Christ has paid.

This is the blasphemy.

Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall beforgiven
unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not beforgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall beforgiven him: but
whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not beforgiven him, neither in this world,
neither in the world to come.

The Son of Man is Jesus in the four gospels- the Incarnate Word.

To blaspheme is to resist; it is to oppose.

To oppose the Spirit is to oppose the sacrifice of Jesus.

The Spirit came to bear witness of Jesus, His redemptive work.

Hence to speak of Christ is to speak of redemption.

When a man refuses to believe the Spirit's testimony of Christ's suffering, He

blasphemes.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 55

1Corinthians12:3 KJV
[3] Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God ca/Jeth Jesus
accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

The Spirit enables the sinner to believe and confess Christ, as Lord.

Unbelief is to resist thisl

Hebrews 10:29 KJV

[29] Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden
underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Despite to the Spirit of grace is blasphemy!

The Spirit of grace is in redemption not the Old Testament or the four gospels.

When a man does this he's damned, since there's no more offering for sin save Jesus
and His sacrifice.

He will have to be condemned. He is condemned not for sins but for blasphemy in
opposing the sacrifice of Jesus.

Let's see the pretext again.

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the
adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden
underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was
sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 56

To Sin willfully here is to disobey the message of the Gospel, to despise the sacrifice, to
oppose (act as an adversary) the message.

It is to do despite to the blood shed for you. It is to resist the Spirit of grace.

Grace is to be freely given. This is not referring to believers for we have believed
already.

Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no
pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving
of the soul.

He was not referring to those who have received the Gospel.

Not to believe is the condemnation.

Since there is ONLY one offering for sin, if you despise it, you are condemned and you go
to Hell.

God1s commitment to His Word is undeniable.

No one goes to Hell because of sins. If anyone still does, it means then that God cannot
be taken at His Word.

But Thank God we can and we have. We can take His Word to the world. His Bond is His
Word of Honor.

He has remitted sins in Jesus. He has taken them away.

He will not count your sins against you. He will not condemn because of sins, rather He
will because of unbelief.

Unbelief is a refusal to take God at His word.

THIS GOSPEL By Chris Segun Onayinka Page 57

This is the Charter of The Gospel.

This is His commitment, His Grace, His Honour. I believe Him!

The Gospel is the Power of God!

It is the Only solution. Its message is No Condemnation. Remission of sins is granted.

Jesus is Lord,

We Win!
