Overview

Digital engine control units are an indispensable part of the modern day engine technologies.
The required efficiency and stringent exhaust norms are not realisable anymore with
conventional mechanical control. For the application of control units, special computer
programs are required. On behalf of DEUTZ, samtec has developed the software SERDIA,
which is implemented in the service and development environments for diagnostic tasks, as
well as in the production process for the programming and archiving of engine specific
control unit data.

SERDIA is a diagnostic program, which can be installed on laptops or on desktops. For the

samdi aX“is the software layer which contains the communication and driver library.

SERDIA allows access to all current DEUTZ control units and is also ready for future
developments.

The functionality of SERDIA includes the transfer of drive software to the control unit,
parameterization, calibration, displays of applicable values, setting of actuators and also the
display of the fault memory. Furthermore access rights for prioritised user groups are also
maintained.

SERDIA is a diagnostic tool that is based on the ASAM MCD MC2 (A2l- exchange format)
standard. The measurement and parameter values displayed by SERDIA can be grouped
using their ASAP designator together with other access levels in external description files.
The user friendly interface enables the user to execute the required functionalities easily
through simple mouse clicks.

Presence

Samtec developed hard and software solutions are implemented worldwide by DEUTZ AG in
their service network.

The numbers of installations are already about 3000.
