Draft A (2014-01-23)
Compared with Issue 01 (2013-05-06) of GBSS15.0, Draft A (2014-01-23) of GBSS16.0
includes the following changes.
2 Overview
2.1 Introduction
The DTMF Downlink Message Filter feature enables the base station controller (BSC) to detect
and delete downlink DTMF messages on the user or signaling plane over the A interface, thereby
ensuring the security of operators' networks.

NOTE
√ indicates that the NE supports this feature. × indicates that the NE does not support this feature.
3 Technical Description
Downlink DTMF signaling is a type of in-band signaling used mainly for remote control.
However, malicious users may take advantage of this signaling and cause security risks.
With the DTMF Downlink Message Filter feature, the BSC detects and deletes downlink DTMF
messages on the user or signaling plane over the A interface so that the called MSs will not
receive DTMF signals during a call. This improves network security.
NOTE
The digital signal processing (DSP) capability of BSC6900 decreases by about 10% after
DLDTMFPRCSW(BSC6900,BSC6910) is set to OPEN(Open).
The GUPTC subsystem capability of BSC6910 decreases by about 10% after DLDTMFPRCSW
(BSC6900,BSC6910) is set to OPEN(Open).

5.2 Activation
Using MML Commands
On the BSC LMT, run the SET OTHSOFTPARA command with Downlink DTMF Signaling
Processing Allowed set to OPEN(Open).
When configuring the DTMF Downlink Message Filter feature on the CME, you must perform a single
configuration first, and then perform batch modifications if required.
You must perform a single configuration for a parameter before batch modifications of the parameter. You
are advised to perform batch modifications before logging out of the parameter setting interface.
Set parameters on the CME configuration interface according to the operation sequence
described in Table 5-1. For the method of performing the CME single configuration, see CME
Single Configuration Operation Guide.
Step 2 Modify objects in batches on the CME. (CME batch modification center)
To modify objects, such as BSCs, BTSs, cells, and TRXs, in batches, click the icon on the
CME configuration interface to start the batch modification wizard. For the method of
performing batch modifications through the CME batch modification center, press F1 on the
wizard interface to obtain online help.
----End
Expected result: During the keystroke on one MS, the other MS receives silence instead of clear
keypad tones.
Step 2 On the BSC LMT, run the SET OTHSOFTPARA command with Downlink DTMF Signaling
Processing Allowed set to CLOSE(Close).
Expected result: During the keystroke on one MS, the other MS receives clear keypad tones.

5.4 Deactivation
