on Septeniber L5th, 20L8 at aPProximately L035 hours, Medford Tovrnship Police
responded to a road rage incident which was called in vj'a 9L1. The road rage
involved the display of a knife and a threat to cut the wictim's throat. The suspect
Ieft location and was not located by Medford patrol units '
At Ll-35 hours I responded to police headquarters. Ptl . shockley advised the
registration provided by the victim, YMM945 was not currently on file, however, wtren
the last digit was changed to a *s" the vehicle came back registered to:

ptl. Shockley had contacted Toms River Po1ice Department and requested a pick up and
hold on the wehicle and itss occupants. He advised that while sPeaking with the
dispatcher, a local address check was completed by Toms River. They indicated that a
resident of that house, charles J. cassidy III, was a known individual !o their
police departmenc through urotor wetricle activity. He matched the general description
and was known to operate that vehicle. Toms River Police DePartment rePorted they
would be checking for the vehicle.
The victim was identified as ,toseph Santore and provided the following information.
santore was traveling eastbound on Rt. ?O in Evesham TwP. at Trotsh Rd. while
stopping in traffic a black Ford F-150 is observed stopPing behind him in a manner
causing the truck to dip forward. After the Ford F-l-50 stops, the male driver ra?as
obserwed presenting the middle finger on both hands towards santore. The other
driver than began honking the horn of his vehicle.
Upon the Light turning green, the driver then operated lris vehicle to the right and
pissed Santore on the right hand shoulder. once in front, of Santore lhe driver than
began brake checking hi.m, causing Santore to back away. The entire time the driver
wal presenti-ng his middle finger. Santore was able bo view the middle finger through
a rear sliding window which was open.
Santore approached. the intersection of Route 7O and Medford Evesboro Rd. and observed
the other driver wawing a knife around inside the vehicLe. The driver then exited

of eyewitnesses, defendant's admission, etc.)

Santore responded, "No who are you?" The driver lhen laid a knife on his
shoulder, pointed towards his neck and stabes, r\I'm the ggy who will cut your
fucking throat." Santore looks up at the driver and bhe driver would not
make eye contacts with him. The driver then turned, walking back towards his
vehicle.
Santore provided a detailed described the driver and vehicle
After completing lhe interview I did an inquiry through police databases on
the suspect developed through patrols. I learned the following:

The images detailed the rear of NJ registrat.ion YMM94S which was parked in
the driveway of 317 Anthony Ave. The rear bailgate was as Santore described
with a Platinum finish across the width of same. In the 1ower right hand
side of the rear window was a sticker consistent with Santore's description.
Additionally there was a sticker on bhe left hand side of the rear window
which was law enforcement related. As described by santore the slicker was
blue/whi!e.
Det. Knecht performed a photo array was presented in accordance with current
guidelines. Mr. Santore picked Charles .f . Cassidy III out of the photo
array.
