1.  Sandeep Bakshi appointed Chief

is new MD & CEO of ICICI Prudential Life
Insurance Company.

2.  Sikkim Government has appointed


renowned music composer AR Rahman as
Brand Ambassador of the State for a year. 

3. Ivan Duque was elected as the new President of Columbia.

4.  One97 Communications, which runs Paytm, has appointed former


RBI Deputy Governor Rama Subramaniam Gandhi as an advisor.

5.  State Bank of India’s Managing Director B Sriram was appointed as


the MD and CEO of IDBI Bank for a temporary term of 3 months.

6. Arijit Basu has been appointed as the new Managing Director of


State Bank of India till October 31, 2020.

7.  Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever will succeed Sunil Mittal as ICC
(International Chamber of Commerce Chairman). Mittal will assume
the role of ICC Honorary Chair from July 1, 2018.

1.  The Telangana police have launched a


mobile-based messenger application ‘COP
Connect’ dedicated to providing real-time
information to over 60,000 police officers across
the State.

2. Haryana Government has launched 7-


Star Gram Panchayat Rainbow scheme to
give star rankings to its panchayats on the basis of seven social parameters.

3.  Punjab government has launched ‘i-Hariyali’ mobile application


under ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’ aimed at increasing the state’s green
cover.

4.    Tripura government launched the GPS (Global Positioning


System) and wireless-based 24×7 “mobile policing” service to control
crime, mainly against women.

5.  The Haryana government has approved a scheme to provide


monthly financial assistance of Rs 8,000 to women and girl acid
attack victims.

6.  The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has adopted
Jagatpur village in Delhi for its Swachhata Abhiyaan.

7. Kerala recently launched Muttathe Mulla scheme which involves the


disbursement of loans between Rs 1,000 and Rs 25,000 at low rates
of interests to rural households. The scheme is implemented by
Mannarkkad Rural Service Cooperative Bank. with the support of
Kudumbashree.

8.  The Gujarat Government announced the launch of the Rs 870-


crore pilot project of Suryashakti Kisan Yojana (SKY). Under the
project this project the farmers would use solar energy for irrigation and
they can sell the surplus power via the grid.

1.  RBI tightens norms for Liberalised


Remittance Scheme (LRS) by making quoting
of PAN mandatory even for transactions below
USD 25,000. Also, concerned over funds sent
abroad under the ‘maintenance of close relative’
category of the Liberalised Remittance Scheme
(LRS), the RBI has narrowed the definition
of relatives to check the flow of funds.

2. HDFC Bank has featured at 60th rank in the BrandZ Top 100 Most
Valuable Global Brands ranking. The report has also ranked India as 2 in
the ‘Best Mover Countries’ ranking after UAE

4.  The Finance Ministry recently launched


the second tranche of Bharat-22 exchange-

5.  Consumer durables firm Bajaj Electricals has acquired the entire
stake in non-stick cookware company Nirlep Appliances for Rs.
42.50 crore in cash. 

6. AU Small Finance Bank will raise Rs. 1,000 crores from Temasek,
a global investment company headquartered in Singapore. The company
bought 5% stake in AU Small Finance Bank.

Alleviation announced Shillong, the capital city
of Meghalaya as the 100th Smart City.

2.  Surat was selected for ‘Smart City


Award’ for showing great momentum in the
implementation of projects under India Smart
Cities Awards 2018. Bhopal and Ahmedabad
were jointly honored for Integrated
Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and Safe and Secure
Ahmedabad (SASA) Project respectively.

3.  Ministry of Women and Child Development has been conferred


the ‘Best performing Social Sector Ministry’ award by SKOCH. 

4.  Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was awarded the


‘Chief Minister of the Year’ award for her extraordinary work in e-
governance, at the 52nd Skoch Summit, in New Delhi.

5.  A Guinness World Record was created in Rajasthan’s Kota city,


where more than 1.05 lakh people performed yoga to mark
International Yoga Day.

India in the 2nd half of 2018.

Development 2018-2028” was recently

1.  Government set to expand BPO scheme


under Digital India initiative to 1 lakh
seats. The India BPO Promotion scheme (IBPS)
is aimed at creating employment opportunities.

2. The government has constituted a chief


ministers' sub-group to coordinate policy
approaches for agriculture and MGNREGS with
the Madhya Pradesh CM Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan as the convener.

3.  The world’s first International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics


was launched in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. 

4.  PM Narendra Modi inaugurated a nature center on the 4th


International Day of Yoga at New York City. The center is called ‘YO1
Nature Cure Center’.

5.  WWF-India has launched its first-ever comic book named ‘The Great
Indian Nature Trail with Uncle Bikky’. 

6.  India’s first robotic telescope located at the Indian Astronomical


Observatory (IAO) at Hanle in Ladakh has started observing the
skies. The facility at Hanle is called GROWTH-India.

2.1b carrier rocket.

2.  India recently gifted Dornier aircraft to


Seychelles.  President Danny Faure of
Seychelles has said that India-Seychelles joint
project to develop a naval base at
Assumption Island in his country will not move forward.

3.  WHO has declared the obsessive gaming phenomenon as a legit


disorder- “Gaming Disorder” and included it in the latest Internal
Classification of Diseases edition.

4.  Canada has legalized the use of recreational marijuana


nationwide, making it the first G7 and second overall country to do so, the
first country was Uruguay.

5.  The United States announced its withdrawal from the United
Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) terming it “hypocritical and
self-serving.

6.  International Conference on Information and Communication


Technology (ICT) was recently held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Theme
of two-day conference was “Sustainable Development Goals for Smart
Society”. 

7. US scientists have unveiled “Summit”, the world’s most powerful


and smartest scientific supercomputer. Summit can perform more than
2,00,000 trillion calculations per second.

gold medal in men’s 50-meter breaststroke
event at the Singapore National Swimming
Championships in Singapore.

2.  Kidambi Srikanth was honored as the


Sportsperson of the Year for 2017 by the
Sports Illustrated India magazine. 
1. Noted social activist Jiten Chakraborty dies
in Guwahati at 82.

2.  Renowned mimicry artiste Nerella


Venumadhav dies in Warangal at 85.

3. Poetess B Sujatha Devi died at a private


hospital after a short-term illness, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

4. Veteran journalist and litterateur Prabhakar Choubey passed away


after a prolonged illness at a city hospital in Raipur.
