• Our material is developed by a carefully selected team of professional educators drawn from learning institutions
across the country, as well as business people who understand the learning outcomes required to ensure that students
are competent as they enter the world of work.
• Our authors have all facilitated learning in classrooms, lecture theatres and training centres. They are able to take
this experience and express it in a way that assists each teacher, lecturer or training manager to ensure real learning
takes place.
• Future Managers work together with carefully chosen print partners who provide us with the best print quality available
to meet our strict quality specifications.
• We print ‘on demand’ to ensure that any change to existing learning material is immediately updated. This ensures
that:
- you do not receive “old versions” or “previous editions” from Future Managers;
- you may order minimum quantities at a time to ensure that you do not sit with excess stock;
- we are able to offer you a standard delivery lead time of eight (8) days from the time that you place your order
to the time we dispatch it to you.
FUTURE MAN AG E R S R E T U R N S P O L I C Y
Because we print on demand, Future Managers only accepts returns on the following conditions:
• Learning material (books, packs, CDs) must be returned within thirty (30) days of the date invoiced.
• The material is returned in resalable condition i.e. it must not be damaged to the extent that another client would not
purchase it.
No exceptions to this policy will be made without prior, written approval.

Future Managers is committed to protecting the copyright of all our authors. If we fail to do this, the quality of
learning material supplied to you will be seriously jeopardised. Our request to all educational institutions is to
assist us in protecting this copyright by ensuring that no illegal copying takes place. Our policy on this matter is
clear. We shall continue to take appropriate legal action in all cases involving any breech of copyright.

It is common knowledge that one of the most powerful tools to really prepare students for the ‘World of
Work’ is providing the opportunity to practically demonstrate theory in a practical situation. For students
hoping to make a career in the hospitality industry this practical environment is a kitchen. For students
engaged in electrical studies, it is a workshop. The most accessible environment for Business Studies
students is a Centre where the day-to-day activities found in any type of business are simulated (often
referred to as a ‘SIM Office’ or a ‘College-based Enterprise’).
Follow our SIM blog to learn how to set up an effective SIM Office or improve on an existing one!

Our Office Data Processing books are not only written according to the NCV subject guidelines, but are also accredited by the ICDL.
What this means is that students completing the NCV Office Data Processing course will be fully equipped to write the ICDL examination.
• Learning Platform
• Automated Testing System
• Management System
COS T
Completing the ICDL certificate for
NCV Office Data Processing students is now extremely cost effective!
Consider the following;
• Textbooks:
Our NCV3 and NCV 4 textbooks are all ICDL accredited and therefore no additional learning material is required.
• Skills logbooks:
FET Colleges have the option of ordering an Office Data Processing/ICDL pack. This pack includes both the textbook and ICDL Skills logbook,
meaning no additional costs to the student. See our pricelist for details.
• Learning Platform
The Learning Platform to assist both lecturer and student is available to all ICDL Accredited FET Colleges.
• Automated tests:
Automated testing is an excellent means of preparation for the final exam. By using the simulated exercises on the Learning Platform and receiving
immediate feedback the likelihood of rewriting the exam is dramatically reduced and therefore so are the costs.
Contact the ICDL for more information - www.icdl.org.za
BENEFIT S
• No extra marking for lecturers;
• Student weakness areas are apparent, allowing the lecturer to focus on those areas;
• Very cost effective;
• An internationally recognised certificate.

The Xplore Series ICDL Office 2007 Courseware book which has been accredited by the
ICDL and written according to the new ICDL Syllabus 5 provides an excellent study guide.
Its extensive use of annotated screenshots, bulleted instructions rather than paragraphs
of dry text, and the accompanying exercise CD help ease the internalisation of the subject
matter.

These Electrical Technology Grade 10 textbooks, are easy-to-use books that will be of outstanding value to teachers and learners no matter what their
level of experience. With the content following pre-determined Learning Outcomes and Assessment Standards, the books reflect the guidelines prescribed
by the Learning Programme Guide. They are compiled in a user-orientated manner, and accompanied by a functional teacher’s guide to assist with lesson
preparation, as well as work schedules that give advice on the tempo of the course. Afrikaans teachers will be delighted to know that many new Afrikaans
terminology-related issues were successfully addressed in the Afrikaans edition.
The books also outline certain practical tasks that form part of the portfolio and the handy Questions and Model Answer section will assist both teachers
and learners in preparing for forthcoming exams.
With the implementation of this subject, a lot of pressure was put on teachers, which is why these books will provide a welcome relief.

In our effort to provide a real value added service we have prepared lessons for teachers in
the form of PowerPoint presentations which can either be viewed on a data projector or printed
out onto transparencies for use on an overhead projector. Each slide show has been created to
complement the accompanying textbook. We have used an interactive format to facilitate class
discussion and taken examples and case studies which are audience appropriate. These slide
shows are offered free of charge to all schools by downloading them from our website.

HELPING CHIL D R E N H E A L
“When your father or mother dies it is hard to believe that you can go on with your life. But I found you can. It was all because of a support group for
teens where I met others who had also lost someone they love. Our group leader Angel helped us to heal. She listened and taught us to listen to each
other (and ourselves) in a special way. We started to feel better and get on with our lives.”
This is a quote from the book Someone I Love Died, authored by Heather Ferris, an independent writer, counsellor and trainer working in South Africa and
Canada.
In 2005, after working in communities with women and training educators in the Northern Cape, Heather co-founded Khululeka, an organisation offering
grief support for children and youth, in Cape Town. To this day Khululeka encourages and trains people to run support groups for bereaved children.
Later, whilst working with AIDS orphans in Libode in the Eastern Cape, Heather realised the extent of children grieving and wrote Someone I Love Died
in 2007 to share these experiences youth were having in their support groups, in the hope it would bring healing to a wider audience.
Someone I Love Died is currently available in isiXhosa, isiZulu, Afrikaans and English. Thuli said after reading it, “Yes, I have experienced lots of hope
from those children who have lost their loved ones. They didn’t have hope, but when they met others and took out what was in their hearts they ended up
knowing why they have a right to live and that was more than helpful!”
Soon after, teachers requested a book for younger children. Heather was working in Slangspruit KZN in 2009 and a young friend Mantombi read and
named her next book, I Am Not Alone. In the story Mpilo loses his mother to AIDS and is supported by his grandparents. He learns that although he is
sad, he also has happy days and he does feel better in time. Mantombi, who had lost both her own parents, also illustrated the accompanying workbook.
Another resource, Helping Hands Happy Hearts (developed during 2009), is a set of cards that adults can use to help children get involved with others
again if they are feeling lonely. It includes healing exercises taught by Capacitar.org.
For information on ongoing training, visit khululeka@ipages.co.za, tel 021 633 5287.
