thickness as 0.1 and direction of thickening and select depth upto surface and specify
surface which is at inside bottom .
Again repeat the same procedure to create compartments inside the box as shown below.
Now go to view menu and select the color and appearance option and select the yellow
color.
Now the final box will look like as follows
Thus box is ready.
2. CREATING A LID :

Now go to file > new >part> solid part name as lid.

) SELECT EXTRUDE TOOL > SELECT SKETCHER TOOL > SELECT
FDP (Front Datum Plane) >SKETCH> REFERENCES >CLOSE.

2) DRAW A RECTANGLE (USING ) > ASSIGN THE DIMENSIONS TO THE

RECTANGLE
OK . CLICK >GIVE THE DEPTH as 0.5 > OK

Then it looks as follows.

Now select the edges as shown and make round of radius of 0.3.
Then go to applications menu on top and select sheet metal and then go to shell.
Then select the top surface to be removed which is not rounded and enter thickness as
0.25.
Now it looks as

Now go to rip and then surface rip option as done for box mentioned above and select the
8 edges to rip and finally the figure looks as.
Then repeat the procedure as done for box mentioned above of extending the edges and
corresponding surfaces to close the box from both inside and outside.
Now the figure looks as follows after closing from inside and outside .

Now make a datum plane DTM1 from surface as shown .

Now go to unattched flat wall option and select the DTM 1 as a reference plane and draw
the sketch as shown
Then give the thickness as 0.25

Then the figure looks as follows

Make the datum plane DTM 2 as shown

Then make mirror of the flat wall drawn just about DTM 2 . so figure will look as
shown.
Make datum plane DTM 3 at distance of 3.25 from surface and make mirror the first
drawn unattached wall about this DTM 3 and the figure will look as shown.
Now make a datum plane DTM 4 from surface at a distance of 5.80 and taking it as a
reference plane draw the sketch as follows on the opposite side by using unattached flat
wall option and give thickness as 0.25.
Now make DTM 5 at distance 6.50 from surface (this is the surface from which all datum
planes are taken and this surface is indicated in above figures) . then make mirror the flat
wall drawn just about DTM 5 and final figure will look as follows
Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
3. CREATING A HANDLE:

Go to file>new >part>sheet metal >name as handle.

By using Extrude option the following sketch has been drawn and then give thicknes
upto 0.25 and depth as 1.

Make the sharp edges of handle round upto radius of 0.25.

Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
4 CREATING A HINGE PART:

Go to file >new >part>solid >name as hinge part.

Then draw the circle of diameter of 0.20 and then extrude upto depth of 1 .
Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
5. CREATING A BUSH PART :

Now go to file>new>part>solid>name as bush part>go to Revolve option and make

sketch as follows and give 360 degree rotation angle .

Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
6. HINGE FOR LID:

Go to file>new>part>solid>name as hinge for lid.

Then go to extrude option and draw circle of radius 0.1 and give depth as 1.60 .
Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
7. CREATING A LATCH

Go to file>new>part>solid>name as a latch .
Then go to extrude option and draw following sketch and give depth as 0.15 .

Now go to extrude (cut option ) and draw sketch as shown on the surface of a latch so
that the final part will look as shown in figure below
Then go to extrude (cut option ) and draw circle of 0.145 diameter concentric with circle
drawn just above and give cut depth as 0.08. then mirror the feature about right plane.
Go to view menu and color and appearances option and select the color so that final
figure will look as
ASSEMBLING THE PARTS:

1. Assembling of BOX :

1. Now go to file>new>assemble>name as main assembly .

CLICK (Add component to assembly) AND SELECT “BOX.PRT”. OPEN. A POP
UP WINDOW APPEARS AS SHOWN BELOW.

Then make constraints type coordinate system and select part coordinates system with
assembly coordinate system and make fully constraints .
2. Assembling of lid to box:

Now we need to bring the lid into assembly to assemble with box.again click (Add
component to assembly) and select “lid.prt”. open.
Then first align the holes and then make mate constraints between the inner edges of lid
and outer edges of box as shown
And finally it looks as

The diameter of hinge pin is 0.20 units and that of holes in box is same as 0.20 units . The
diameter of holes for lid is slightly greater than that of hinge pin so that the lid will just
like revolve around that hinge pin.
3. Assembling of hingepin :

Then click and add the hingepart to the assembly window.

Then use insert constraint between the curved part of hinge and hole of assembly . then
use align ( offset 0.125) between the surfaces of hinge and box , as shown .

Now repeat this same procedure two times for assembling hingepart with another pair so
that the final figure will look as
4. Assembling of bush to the ends of hingepin:

Now add the bush part . the function of the bush part is to prevent the axial
misalignment of the hinge . And will also cover the sharp edges of hinge.
Now assemble the bushpart using insert between hole of bush part and curved surface of
hinge . the use mate constraints betweem surfaces to be mated of bushpart and box .

And repeat same procedure mentioned above two times so that final figure will look as
follows
5. Assembling of handle:

Now add the handle.prt in assembly window . Use mate between the below surfaces of
handle and upper part of lid . then use align constraints between corresponding surfaces
of handle and lid as follows
6 Assembling of latch:

Now add the latch.prt in assembly window .then use automatic constraints between
corresponding holes . then use mate angle constraints between upper part of latch and
corresponding part of lid. Then use mate between corresponding surfaces of latch and lid
7 . Assembling hinge to lid:

Now add the hingeforlid.prt in assembly window.

Now use the insert constraint between curved surafaces of hinge and hole of latch.
Then use lign ( offset 0.100) between corresponding surfaces of hinge and latch.

Now the assembly is completed and the final assembly will look as shown .
Now see the box in opened position
