RSM Configuration for GILAT MODEM
(Port 7) and Carrier Detect (port 8):

Communication Setting:
1. Baud rRate: 9600
2. Bits/Parit: 8-None
3. Stop Bits: 1
4. Handshake: None
Port Mode Parameters:
21. Port Name: CDBOX or GILAT MDM
22. Port Mode: Any-to-Any
23. DTR output: Pulse
26. Hartbeat: Off

RSM Configuration Interconnect port 7

and port 8 internally

Type the command in the hyper terminal:

RSM> /c 7 8

- You are connecting internally through RSM
both ports (Gilat Modem and Carrier Detect
Box).

- Important Detail:
A) To maintain this interconection UP, the
RSM should be not switch OFF in the power
button. If this heppening we need reconnect
again both ports accessing the RSM.
B) To have GILAT modem access you need
type the command “ /D 7 8 “ (disconnect
both ports 7 and 8) then the technician will
have the access. After the access you need
type the commnad “ /C 7 8 “ to interconnect
GILAT modem to Carrier Detect BOX again.
 Gilat MODEM necessary STRINGS after
Pic7 the commissioning:

Access gilat modem after the

commissioning with Petrobras.
Under GILAT modem prompt type:

OPER> rsp demod get telemetry

- So the Carrier Detect Box need the

following string from the GILAT modem on
the bottom of the information:
RS lock: $rslock 1$ (when locked) or
RS lock: $rslock 0$ (when not locked)

Testing the Carrier Detect

Functionality

1) Configure the DAC SYSTEM TYPE
adding number “2” parameter.
Commonly System Type “7” or
System Type “71”

2) Put the multimeter probes in the AGC

and ground
0 Vdc – when the modem is locked
5 Vdc – When the modem is NOT locked.

3) Final test:
Left the modem GILAT locked and the
antenna in the tracking mode pointing to the
right satellite “61w”... then disconect the RX
coaxial cable from the “ RF In “ behind the
GILAT modem.... So check in the front of the
DAC if the antenna will change from tracking
mode to the searcing mode.
