ENGR. EFREN B. CARIDO

OIC-Office of the Regional Director
DENR-Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 12
City of Koronadal, South Cotabato

Attention: Chief Finance and Administrative Division

Dear Engr. Carido,

REQUEST FOR FLEXIBLE WORKING HOURS ARRANGEMENT

In accordance with the required office hours to be complied by all government officials and
employees and the adoption of flexible working hours or ‘flexi-time’ under Sections 5 & 6, Rule
XVII of the Omnibus Rules Implementing Book V of Executive Order No. 292, I would like to
request for a flexible working hours arrangement which is different to my current working
hours.

I am making this request because of my intention to further pursue my education into law
school. My position in the Finance section greatly demands for extended hours after office.
So, it is not possible for me to take evening classes during weekdays. Thus, I have resolved
to choose to enroll for a weekend program. Upon thorough research and inquiries, only Jose
Maria College in Davao City offers weekend program for law school in the area with classes
on Friday Evening (starting 5:00 PM), Saturday and Sunday.

I currently work on this regular prescribed government office hours:

Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM –12:00 NN

1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

This is my proposed new office working hour arrangement:

Monday to Thursday - 7:30 AM –12:00 NN

1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Friday - 8:00 AM -10:00 AM

With the above proposed new working hour arrangement, I can still comply with the prescribed
total of forty (40) hours a week, exclusive of time for lunch. Moreover, it will still give me enough
time to travel from City of Koronadal to Davao City and be on time for the Friday evening
classes which starts at 5:00 in the afternoon. I think my proposed new working hours will not
greatly affect my office functions and will not cause any disruption to office operations.

I have worked as a permanent employee of this office for one (1) year and three (3) months
and have not previously made any request for flexible working hour arrangement. I am also
aware that if this request will be granted, there will be a change to my official working hours
and will be subject to Civil Service Commission laws and regulations.

I would like the proposed working hour arrangement to be effective on the start of classes of
Jose Maria College-College of Law for SY 2018-2019 which is yet to be announced.
I would appreciate your response to this request before May 31, 2018. I am also willing to
discuss this matter with you at a time of your convenience. I am willing to discuss possible
alternatives to the arrangements I have outlined and I am also willing to work with you to
make sure that this arrangement works effectively for both the office and me.

Very truly yours,

ERMELYN JANE P. CELINDRO
