Landfill leachate treatment systems

Plant Technology

Landfill leachate treatment system, using disc tube module technolgy- 140 m3/d – 2RO stage – 90 bar

Landfill leachate treatment systems are tailor-made according to the customers demands. Four
standard modular plants, which can treat leachate volumes from 0.5 m³/h to 15 m³/h, form the basis of
the system.

The modular system-design allows also the construction of plant for bigger water volumes.

To increase the permeate yield (= minimisation of the concentrates to be disposed of) concentrate
stages with high pressure technology up to 160 bar are offered.

The energy consumption, 6 – 8kWh/m³ leachate (waste water), is compared to alternative treatment
systems very low. Multi treatment systems can reach up to 60kWh/m³ and even more (ex:
evaporation).

The plants are designed in standard modular form; the individual sections are installed on a common
foundation frame, made of stainless steel to ensure the longevity of the system.

The plants are designed in such a way that they can either be placed in a hall or installed in a
container (standard ISO sizes). No technical changes are necessary for container installation. It is also
possible to transfer a plant from a container to a hall.

The standard modular form allows ready-for-operation assembling of the plants in the factory,
including complete acceptance testing. This allows quick installation and start-up of the plant at the
intended site.
Radial channel disc tube module

RCDT module
The so called RCDT module (Radial Channel Disc Tube
module) is the most advanced product in DT module
technology.
The module consists of a pressure tube and hydraulic discs which are held by a center tension rod.
Octagonal membrane cushions lie between every two discs. Owing to this special construction, open
flow channels are formed between the hydraulic discs and the membrane cushions where the raw
solution concentrates. The individual channels are joined together by openings in the discs, which are
arranged in annual pattern, so that the feed water flows radial across the membrane cushions,
alternately from the inside towards the outside.
The permeat that has been seperated by the membrane, flows on the inside of the cushion into the
spacer radial inwards to the central permeat sewer and is directed along the clamping pin to the
connecting flange of the module. The seperation of concentrate and permeat happens between the
hydraulic disc and the membrane cushion.

A major advance in Reverse Osmosis Technology

ROTREAT`s Disc-Module-Technology has created major advances in the field of REVERSE

OSMOSIS and its use in the desalination and purification of landfill leachate and waste waters.

The patented RCDT-Membrane-Module is a modern design for desalination and purification of

liquids. It operates effectively and economically also at increased turbidity and Silt Density Index
levels for reverse osmosis.

The successful development of the RCDT modules was only made possible by a precise technical
approach in developing the total RO system. ROTREAT possesses the rare capability of being both
the module manufacturer and the systems manufacturer. This dual capability, plus direct contact with
the end user, is of great advantage to the customer.

Why is the ROTREAT RCDT-Module-System the best choice in RO?

The patented fluid dynamics and construction of the disc membrane stack result in an open channel,
unrestricted and fully turbulent feedwater flow system. This means that suspended solids carried in
the feedwater can not be trapped or easily settle out inside the membrane module. Most important, it
also means that the infrequent and highly successful maintenance cleaning of the membranes can be
achieved using a standard inbuilt cleaning system.
ROTREAT is committed to the use of only the highest quality of components, materials and methods
of design and construction to ensure for the end user 24 hours per day reliability and product water
quality.
