Installing
the
Cisco
UCS
Emulator
The
Cisco
UCS
Emulator
is
the
full
UCS
Manager
running
in
a
virtual
machine.
It
can
do
everything
the
real
thing
can
with
the
caveat
,
that
you
don’t
have
actual
server
blades.
For
example,
if
you
were
taking
the
DCUCI
course
you
could
do
all
the
labs
except
6
&
7
on
the
emulator.

or
OVA
file
2. Virtualization
Software
–
You
run
the
Emulator
on
a
variety
of
software.
Make
sure
you
have
one
installed
such
as:
a. VMware
Player
b. VMware
Workstation
c. VMware
Fusion
d. ESXi
e. Hyper-‐V
3. Launching
Cisco
UCS
Platform
Emulator
Using
VMware
Hypervisors
With
A
.zip
File
a. The
.zip
file
contains
the
VMX
and
VMDK
files
that
can
be
used
directly
with
VMware
Player,
VMware
b. Workstation
and
VMware
Fusion.
i. Download
the
.zip
file.
ii. Extract
the
.zip
file
to
a
folder.

iii. Click
Open
a
Virtual
Machine
and
browse
to
the
extracted
files.
Select
the
VMX
file
and
click
Open..

Fusion

on
Mac
OS
X
a. VMware
Fusion
5
can
import
the
.ova
image
file
without
conversion.
b. From
the
File
menu
on
the
VMware
Player
menu
bar,
select
Import.
The
Import
Library
window
displays
a
dialog
box
for
browsing
to
the
location
of
the
.ovf
file.
c. Browse
to
the
.ova
file
and
click
Open.
d. Type
the
name
for
the
imported
virtual
machine
in
the
Save
As
text
box
and
indicate
where
to
save
it.
The
default
destination
is
the
Virtual
Machines
folder
created
by
VMware
Fusion.
e. Click
Import.
A
status
bar
indicates
the
progress
of
the
import
process.
f. When
the
import
is
complete,
the
virtual
machine
appears
in
the
virtual
machine
library
and
in
a
separate
virtual
machine
window.

Booted
it
should
look
something
like

6. Connecting
to
your
UCS
Emulator
a. Open
a
Web
Browser
to
the
IP
address
of
your
emulator.
The
address
can
seen
at
the
console.

b. Click
“Launch
UCS
Manager”
c. You
May
receive
a
security
warning,
allow
the
program
access
d. Login
with
username
“admin”
and
“password”
admin
e. You
can
now
use
UCS
manager
