Congress Update 8

16th SEPTEMBER 2018

LOECHES, MADRID

Consagrados a formar apóstoles

The Spirit continues to open us to its dynamism, from the very first
hour of the day, which we began with the celebration of the
Eucharist. This Sunday the preaching of Pablo Muñoz helped us
focus in our vocation to form apostles, as a singular dedication,
according to our Constitutions. The Gospel of today: "Jesus began
to instruct his disciples" (Mk 9,31), confirms our call to form
disciples, which is the specific and proper fruit of the Verbum Dei
mission. It is a call not to lose the focus of consecration - not to be
distracted by many other dedications. A call, to dare to respond, if
we form or not, at least a few apostles. This is the novelty of our
charism, which is essential and does not change, despite being a
new form of consecrated life.

We gathered for our Branch Assemblies in order to continue
deepening the themes of the Instrumentum Laboris: work
with youth and vocations, geostrategy or distribution of
members of the Branch in the various communities, work in
parishes, permanent formation and reflection on the
theological contribution of Verbum Dei to the Church. The
open and sincere dialogue on all these issues enriched us
very much. We appreciate the universality of our
contributions, the inculturation of our lives amid strong
challenges and the openness to new initiatives. We are
participating in a true «School of Apostles» in which we look
with gratitude at the past, with realism at the present and
we project the future through an optic of great hope.
Between meetings and dialogues in the hallways, the Spirit
is doing his work among us and guiding the entire Verbum
Dei towards a fruitful and gracious future for the five
continents with a new vigor..

Today we celebrated the sixteen years of perpetual vows of our brothers David Rolo and Pablo Muñoz
(whose anniversary was yesterday). We enjoyed to listen to their testimony of consecrating themselves to
God in the Fraternity. They have felt both loved by the Fraternity and wanted to love the Fraternity, in that
critical moment of the Verbum Dei history when they took their perpetual vows. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
