JOB PROFILE: Program Manager

STATUS: Staff Position


The position will include a paid stipend, free room, utilities and internet

COMMITMENT: Part-full time 12 month engagement

BROAD FUNCTION: The primary purpose of the Program Manager is to further the
mission of Next Dor STL by facilitating use of the space, creating a network of support
for Next Dor STL and it’s mission and managing the experience of all guests in the
facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Facilitate Use of the space by:


a. Reaching out to and coordinate with potential users of the space, both
organizations and individuals
b. Serving as the main contact for inquiries to use the space
c. Maintaining a calendar of and publicize events using social media
including facebook, twitter, and e-mail list serves
d. Managing conflicts that may arise, such as more than one program
desiring the space for the same time slot
e. Maintaining a diversity of programs

2. Be present – or arrange for a responsible party - in the house, both:


a. During Shabbat and Sunday, unless arrangements for another responsible
party are made
b. During the evening, at least 3 nights/week 7 pm to 11 pm
c. During the day, be available by phone or text to let users in between 3 and
7 pm, 3 days/week
d. During scheduled meetings, gatherings or events during the Monday -
Friday work week or

3. Promote the presence of Next Dor as a public space for young Jewish
professionals
a. Solicit community ideas and support the development of external
programs incubated at Next Dor

4. Monitor and maintain the house by:


a . Ensuring the security of the house, visitors and property
b . Maintaining the house in an orderly and clean condition including
all activities that are generally associated with living in a house[1].
c . Keeping a list of Next Dor STL specific house needs

5. Keep an account of activities, specifically:


a. Provide a written report documenting recent progress and activities at
every board meeting
b. Stay in regular communication with the board chair
c. Record expenses related to house
d. Keep track of hours worked
e. Keep a database record of all users including an ongoing tally indicating
how often new and repeat users are at the house.

6. Work with the Board of Directors to support the short and long-term
sustainability of Next Dor STL.

The program manager is permitted to hold additional employment, as long as it does


not conflict with the responsibilities of the position as outlined.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Undergraduate degree or comparable experience strongly preferred
● Knowledge of the Jewish and professional communities in St. Louis
● Interest in Judaism and working with Jewish young adults
● Respect, understanding, and appreciation for the mission of Next Dor
● Sense of humor
● Willingness to work and live cooperatively with other residents of the house
● Ability to work independently and proactively
● Ability to work with many different types of people in a friendly and professional
manner

The mission of Next Dor is to strengthen the Jewish community by creating a post-
denominational (the idea that Jewish self-identification is of greater importance than
denominational affiliation), non-institutional, urban Jewish community space for young
adults in St. Louis.

Located in St. Louis City, the house serves as a catalyst to create thriving Jewish young
adult community. Next "Dor" (Hebrew for generation) seeks to build community by
creating a vibrant center of activity - the Next Dor house - that draws young Jewish
adults together. Next Dor offers its house as a space for community-driven projects as
well as for existing young adult organizations to put on events within the house. The
space is open to individuals, informal groups, and existing organizations. Find out more
