1. Insert the CD or download the software from our website
2. Follow the on-screen instructions
3. At the Choosing Components step, make sure to check the USB Drivers
box

Notes:
• A notification window may appear, choose the Continue Anyway option
• Prior to starting Calisto Manager, your computer should be properly connected
to the monitor using the supplied USB cable and proper drivers should be
installed when asked by the operating system.
Connecting to a new Calisto 9
1. Launch Calisto Manager
2. Under Tracking, click on Add Monitor to List
3. At the Choosing Components step, check the USB Drivers box

Settings - Relays
Two different ‘Fail-safe’ relay configurations:
• ‘energized-when-always’
• ‘energized-when not-condition’

Morgan Schaffer recommends the following to establish

the best levels of alarm limits and trend values:
• Work with the transformer manufacturer;
• Consult an industry expert;
• Carry out a statistical analysis of gas levels on a population of
similar transformers being used in similar loading,
environment, etc.

Alarm level and relay logic should always be set

with great care to maximize protection.
4. Maintenance
Maintenance
The Calisto monitor is virtually maintenance free. To maximize
product reliability, the following points should be verified every 6 to
12 months:
1. Install the latest firmware (if available)
2. Inspect the mounting
3. Inspect wiring, no unplugged entry holes
4. External fan is ON (for ambient > 15degC)
5. Internal fan is ON (always)
6. Verify the relay logic using Calisto Access
7. Ensure alarm limits are configured properly
8. Verify that the date and time are set properly
9. Verify that all valves are fully open
10. No material, cable, manual, etc. inside Calisto
11. Enclosure latches are tightened down
12. Inspect the oil line connections for possible leaks
13. Inspect underneath Calisto for possible leaks
14. Verify the response of the display
Maintenance
Calisto 5 / Calisto 9 consumables to be replaced every 2 years:

1. Calibration gas cylinder

2. Carrier gas cylinder (helium)

For more details, refer to the Calisto5/Calisto 9 Installation Manual and to the Calisto
Manager User Guide.
Gas cylinder replacement
Calisto 5 / Calisto 9
Starting the gas flow
1. Turn ON the monitor
2. Follow instructions on the Display (30 min.)
3. Go to Maintenance, then Combined bottle change

Only open the gas cylinder shut-off valves as directed by

the bottle change procedure to avoid contamination.
Installing the carrier gas cylinder
Install the carrier gas adaptor onto the helium cylinder

Note: You will require a large capacity 1 ½ adjustable wrench.

Installing the carrier gas cylinder
Installing the high pressure carrier gas line
1. Connect the preswaged 1/8 tubing to the cylinder, tighten ¼ turn
Installing the calibration gas cylinder
1. Install the calibration gas cylinder inside the door
2. Insert one end of the cylinder in the bracket hole until captive screws
become aligned with their respective nuts
3. Insert the preswaged 1/16 tubing and tighten 1/8 turn
Maintenance
Most common error codes and respective solution:
1 External fan replace fan
2 Internal fan replace fan

2000 External analog input Wiring or Calisto Access

8000 No/low oil flow Verify all valves

For more details, refer to the Calisto/Calisto 2 Installation and Operation Manual.
