HOUSE RULES
These Rules are not intended to make your lives miserable. These
should be appreciated as hot tips in order that we can all make the
semester as productive, enjoyable, informative and fun as possible.

CLASSROOM RECITATIONS

Everyone is expected to attend and actively participate. You are

allowed no more than two (2) absences in my class.

Please prepare for the sessions by reading the assigned materials.

All recitations are graded, unless otherwise announced. Every

student must endeavor to recite at least FIVE (5) times during the
semester. It is the student’s look-out that he meets this quota.

ASSIGNMENTS

Assignments are to be submitted within the deadlines, generally NLT

12 midnight of the day set as deadline. Late submissions shall
receive point deductions.

These assignments shall consist of no more than 400 words. Apply

the format described in the Efficient Use of Paper Rule (AM No.
11-9-4-SC).

At the top of each and every page, indicate your NAME, YEAR AND
SECTION. Also, indicate the Assignment Number and Title, as
follows:

ROBERTO H. REYES, 3V
ASSIGNMENT NO. 2: HOW TO TELL A FAKE.

At the end of your work, indicate the Word Count, i. e., [400 words]

The file shall be named [YOUR LAST NAME] [ASSIGNMENT]

[NOx].pdf, where x is the Arabic numeral designation of the
assignment. WITHOUT the brackets, IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

For example:

where XX represent your year and section, [YOUR LAST NAME]
[ASSIGNMENT] [NOX], where X is the Arabic numeral designation of
the assignment, IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

For example:

In all cases, if you have a classmate with THE SAME LAST NAME,
please indicate both your Last and First names, as in the following
example:

RODRIGUEZNUMERIANO

CASE DIGESTS

The value of reading case decisions in their original form cannot be

overemphasized. To cultivate, if not to instill, this habit, students may
have to be “forced” to read by requiring them to make case digests in
their hand-writing. PREPARE HAND-WRITTEN CASE DIGESTS
USING YELLOW PAD PAPER (ONE PAGE PER CASE)

Case digests are to be prepared using the following format:

Case digests shall be submitted as required.

QUIZZES, MIDTERM EXAM AND FINAL EXAM

Quizzes, midterm and final exams shall be administered via

quia.com. Every class member shall register and secure a personal

account which shall be free of charge. Instructions on how to register

shall be provided at the proper time.

FINAL PAPER

There is a requirement for a Final Paper on a topic that most interests

you. The topic must involve a legal issue about Intellectual Property.

The final paper shall consist of no more than 1,000 words, set on a
8.5 x 11 sized document, using Arial, Verdana, Lucida Grande or
Tahoma font, 14 points, single-spaced, but with 1.5 spaces in
between paragraphs. The margins are: 1.5” on the left; 1.2” on top
and 1.0” on the right and at the bottom.

The file shall be named [YOUR LAST NAME] [FINALPAPER].pdf,

WITHOUT the brackets, IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

For example:
RODRIGUEZ FINAL PAPER

It shall be in Portable Document File (PDF) format and submitted

Some of you may think that submitting something that is shoddy or

even copied and not original is all right because I may have not time
to read all the papers submitted and/or even if I did, that there is a
good chance that I will not notice such instances of “cutting corners”.
In a sense, you may be correct. But learning is not a “cat-and-mouse”
routine where I, as your teacher, have to ensure that you must
comply with the rules and that I must catch those who don’t.

If you cut corners and you get away with it, you may think you are
lucky. But are you? You fail to get the education you paid for. You
consign yourself to mediocrity. And you think you are lucky?

But, If you are caught, you only have yourself to blame. I take the
matter very seriously.
