Welcome to this years Parndana Show. As always there is
lots to see and do, and people to meet. LIFE MEMBERS
I have reluctantly come into the role of president as some of our Mrs. P Ahwan, Mr. I. Kelly,
older members have health issues. The show committee is Mr. N. Murton, Mr. W West,
feeling the loss of their friendship, experience and skills which Mr. R. Cass, Mr. W Roper,
comes from many years serving our show. We are lucky to Mr. R. Borgmeyer, Mrs L Sarson,
have some younger members who have stepped up to fill Mr M Tremaine, Mrs M Tremaine,
the gaps along with their ongoing committee jobs. Our Mrs B Bald, Mr T Bennett
show is a vital event for the western end of the Island; it PRESIDENT

The sales of pop guns and cap guns is prohibited at the Show and any found

#2 GENERAL ADMITTANCE
Show day gate prices adults $8, aged pensioners $4 and children under 16

#3 ENTRIES AND EXHIBITS
Entries can be posted to the secretary P.O. Box 139, Parndana, 5220 or the
Show Society will holdrd an entry day at the show pavilion Parndana on
Saturday November 3 between 10:00am and 12:00pm.
Postal entries to be on official entry forms if possible. Each person to have
separate forms that include name and address. Children’s entry forms to have
parent’s

name also and must be available for collection on Monday November
5.
Phone entries are acceptable in most sections.
All entries must be bona fide property of the exhibitor.
All exhibitors must place their entries in the space directed by the convenor
by 9:30am. Late entries will not be accepted.
No exhibits to be removed before 4:00pm.
The committee do not hold themselves responsible for loss or damage to any
exhibit.
Exhibits not claimed within 28 days will become the property of the Society.

#5 PAVILION AND JUDGING
The public are not permitted in the pavilion while judging is in progress.
Judging is to start at 9:45am sharp.
No exhibitors may approach the judges whilst they are judging. The judges’
decisions are final.
Judges have the power to withhold any prize if they consider exhibits of
insufficient merit.
The committee members are the sole interpreters of these regulations and
their rulings in any dispute are final.
No prize money will be given out in any class where a trophy or ribbon is
given.
Trophies not won outright will be held by the Society until such time as they
are won outright.

PLATINUM BIGGEST LAMB
COMPETITION
This section is for the largest weight lamb of any breed.
A single lamb will be judged on weight only, not the most perfect
marketing lamb.
There will be no judging on formation, fat cover or pelt.
Lamb must still have lamb’s teeth and wool.
The lamb will stay at the show with the profits being donated to the
redevelopment of the Parndana Show Society’s Life Members Garden.

RICH FRUIT CAKE RECIPE COMPETITION OUTLINES
Note: recipe to be used – cake not to be iced 1. Recipe to be used.

Ingredients 4. Winner eligible to enter and be judged at the Royal
250g butter 60g chopped red glace Adelaide Show 2019.
250g dark brown sugar cherries COMPETITION HINTS & TIPS
6 eggs 60g chopped almonds 1. Cakes should be cooked evenly all over – top, bottom and
250g sultanas 375g plain flour sides should be of even colour. Points to be deducted for
250g raisins 1tsp baking powder uneven cooking.
200g currants 1tsp mixed spice 2. Cakes must be well cooked right through – no damp or
soggy patches.
100g dates 200mL sherry or brandy 3. Fruit should be evenly distributed throughout cake.
60g mixed peel 4. Fruit should be moist and clean.
Method 5. Cake should be of a good even shape.
1. Chop and mix together all fruits and soak in sherry 6. Points to be deducted for – cake rack marks, burnt edges,
pieces of paper or foil which were not removed properly from
