EXPERIMENT No 02

TITLE:
‘’To Find the Density, Specific Weight, Specific Volume and Specific Gravity of Different Fluid Samples”

INTRODUCTION:
The Density (also known as mass density or specific mass) of a liquid defined as the mass per unit
volume at a standard temperature and pressure. The specific weight (also known as the unit weight) is
the weight per unit volume of a material. Specific volume of a substance is the ratio of the
substance's volume to its mass. It is the reciprocal of density and an intrinsic property of matter as
well. The specific gravity of an object is the ratio between the densities of an object to a reference
liquid.

OBJECTIVE:
From this experiment find out the density, weight, specific volume, specific weight and specific gravity of
different fluid (Mustard, Motor and Amla) samples.

PROCEDURE:

 Take the sample and weight it on weighing balance and note the weight of sample.
 Note the volume of sample by flask.
 After that note weight and volume of sample determine the density, weight, specific volume,
specific weight and specific gravity of fluid samples by formulas.
 Then Use fluid samples and repeat this procedure.
 Take at least three different volumes and weight to the each sample.

DISSCUSSION:

 In above table we calculated the weight, which is defined as mass multiplied by gravity.
 The density which is defined as mass per unit volume, the specific volume which is
reciprocal of density.
 The specific weight which is defined as weight per unit volume.
 Also calculated specific gravity which is defined as specific weight of liquid to the ratio of
specific weight of water.

CONCLUSION:

 The Mustard oil has a maximum density ,weight ,specific volume, specific weight and
specific gravity
 Motor oil has a minimum density, weight, specific volume, specific weight and specific
gravity among different samples in previous table.
