From Mr. Klonowski:

Welcome! My name is Mr. Klonowski (pronounced Kloh-now-skee). I am very excited to start making music
this school year. As a new member to the Simon Baruch learning community, I am very much looking forward
to an exciting, fun and musical year of learning together. If you have any questions or concerns for me
throughout the year, it is easiest to contact me any time by email, but I am also available during school hours
at the number above.

Course Description:
Through our time together, we will all grow as musicians, both individually and as an ensemble. Our
curriculum will focus on the following:

Learning the basics of music theory and applying that theory to our daily playing

Rehearsing and performing music from a wide range of genres (classical, pop, film, blues, etc.)

Build independence by developing good individual practice and group rehearsal techniques and strategies

Making historical connections with the life and times of the composers’ music we will be playing

Composing our own music together as a class and in small groups

Daily Required Materials for Class:

Your Instrument

A pencil (please no pens- we will make mistakes and need to be able to fix them)

A folder for your music and materials

Manuscript or Music Staff paper (a notebook, or printed from the web: www.BlankSheetMusic.net)
