Resident Profile
News Dale Schaffer & Bonnie Carr
Dale & Bonnie first rented in Sun City Festival in January
2013. We enjoyed the people, amenities, the rural feel of
Festival plus the Phoenix area (except for the traffic), so
much, that we knew early on we wanted to come back.
We rented again two more winters before purchasing a
home at 26222 W. Via Del Sol Drive in March 2015. Our
neighbors are terrific and the community as a whole is so
welcoming.
Dale owned a business, taught high school math, and
coached high school basketball, volleyball, and golf in
Custer, SD, before retiring in May 2016. Bonnie grew up in
Spearfish, SD, and worked as a Speech Therapist in Belle
Fourche, SD for 38 years before retiring.
After we lost our first spouses, we met “on line” in Feb-
ruary 2011. Within a few months, we both knew our
lives were richer together and married in June 2012. For
our honeymoon we took our combined 5 children, their
spouses and the now shared 10 grandkids on a Disney Cruise so everyone could get acquainted.
Since being married, we have traveled to Hawaii, Italy, France, and England. This September we are traveling
to Hungary, Austria, Germany, and France. Beyond our love of family, friends, and traveling, Dale loves golf,
playing cards, and going to movies. Bonnie enjoys playing mahjong, cooking, hiking and entertaining. This
year Dale will serve as president of the Can‐Am Group.
April through October finds us in our home in Spearfish, SD which is about 65 miles from Mount Rushmore.
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter will always find us with family. With five children and ten grandchildren,
our choices are endless and great no matter the location, Sun City Festival, Spearfish, or at the home of one
of our kids.
