Mental disorders according to APA (American Psychiatric Association) are syndromes or
psychological patterns or patterns of behavior that are clinically important, which occur in individuals and the syndrome is associated with the presence of distress or disability (disability in one part or several important functions) or accompanied by increased risk meaningfully to die, sickness, disability or loss of freedom. Mental disorders that are one of the main problems in developing countries is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a clinical syndrome of various psychopathological conditions that are very disturbing, involving the process of thought, emotion, perception and behavior. In this study researchers used descriptive method with a case study approach to managing patients with schizophrenia at Simpang Empat Health Center starting from assessment, diagnosis formulation, nursing action to evaluation. In this case study using 1 family as a subject in the study or a subject that became the center of attention or research target that one of his family members was diagnosed with schizophrenia by a doctor. After doing the research, it was found that there was still a lack of family knowledge in family care with schizophrenia at home, so it was hoped that especially for nurses to emphasize more on health education so that what was conveyed was really attached to the family, so that in their daily lives they always do a healthy lifestyle so as to maintain and improve the health status of his family.
