Should driving age be increased

The government’s involvement in providing driving education influences the amount

of road accidents caused by teenagers. It is without a doubt that every licensed
driver had gone through driving courses provided by the government. Despite that,
there are flaws in the driving education system that contributes to occurring road
accidents by young drivers. Firstly, the teaching method taught by driving
instructor are too practical. Based on the current driving education system,
students are taught to park or drive a certain way which will only prepare them for
the exams instead of real life. Since the students are only introduced to such
little driving experience as they always practice in the same area, it doesn’t make
them prepared to face the reality of driving. If new drivers face scenarios such as
narrow roads, jammed roads, slippery roads and such, they will have difficulty in
grasping the situation and they might make mistakes on the road. Thus , leading to
road accidents.Other than that, driving examiners are too lenient. Due to bribery
or long working hours, driving instructors don’t honestly evaluate the students and
allow them to pass with ease. Due to that, there are many unqualified drivers who
might cause road accidents. Although the government does try to prepare their
citizens for the road, there are many improvements that should made for a fully
effective driving education system.
