How to open VPLabs via Electromeet Remote Labs:

1. The VPLabs software can be accessed on “Remote Lab 1”, “2”, “4”, “5”,
“6” or “12”

2. Open up Electromeet via the web-browser, or via the installed Electromeet


program. (Follow the “How to Connect to Remote Labs” instructions as given
by your coordinator) An overview is given on the last page of this document.

VPLabs Access:
1. Open the “My VPLab.exe” using the shortcut on the desktop
(Do not go into the “VPL” folder. Use the shortcut on the desktop)

1. Once you have opened the software, you may be prompted to log into the
simulation package (see screenshot below). If you are prompted please type in
the username: James and the password: Buchan. (No other username or
password will be accepted) Please note that the username and password is
case sensitive.

2. Please also note that to enter the User Name or password; you must click on
the button ‘proceed’, do not press enter on your keyboard as it will not work.

3. After you have logged in to VPLabs, press on the button on the bottom of the
screen that reads “Search the Whole VPLab Content”.

4. The software should show buttons like the picture below.

5. Depending on which course you are taking, you will have to select the
relevant category. (“Electricity AC” or “Pressure” or “Fluids”, etc.)

6. We will use “Electricity AC” for this guide. But the same steps apply to the
other categories.

7. Click on the category icon titled ‘Electricity AC’

8. Now click on the subcategory icon titled ‘Transformer’.

9. After a few seconds, a window may pop-up, asking if you want to copy this last
simulation into “My VPLab” – Click “No Thank You”
10. Then re-open the “Transformer” (or whichever exercise you are running)
window from the taskbar at the bottom of the remote lab desktop (as below):

11. REMEMBER to close ALL the VPLab windows when you are done.

Overview of Electromeet instructions:


1. You need to login to start using the application. Depending on the version of
Electromeet you are using, it will either prompt you to enter user name and
password (as shown below) or click on the “Key” icon on the left top corner
and type your username at the bottom left.
2. Enter your full name and LEAVE the password field BLANK and click on
Login button.

OR
3. Once logged in, Click on the “Remote Lab” tab or from the top left of the
screen (the icon looks like a clock or stop watch) and it will open the Remote
Lab Tab.

OR
4. Access the Remote Lab by clicking on the icon that looks like a small
computer screen and a satellite dish.

5. When you access a Remote Lab, it will prompt you to enter a password. The
password is: demopass

6. Follow the disconnect / reconnect steps as given in the instructions.


7. You will see the Remote Lab desktop with software and hardware
applications.
