For using ETABS program to design, it must be confirming five checks:
We calculated the load on support from live, SID and Dead according to ACI
code, after that, this value is compared with ETABS value
The check is ok if the difference between them is less than 5%.
SID
From slab and block weights
SID = (Given value) + (block weight per meter)
= 4 + 2.4
3|Page
= 6.4 KN/m²
P(SID) = SID ∗ A ∗ NO. of floor
No. of floor = 4
A: area of slab without opening
P(SID) = 6.4 ∗ (187.76 + 103.94 + 15.72) ∗ 4
= 7869.952KN
From wall weight (ETABS)
SID = 6209.712 KN
Dead load

Weight of columns:
NO. of column in each floor = 23
Column dimension = 70 cm ∗ 30 cm
γconcrete = 25 KN /m3
Length = [3.5] ∗ 23
= 80.5 m
Weight = 80.5 * 0.3 * 0.7 * 25 *4

Weight of shear wall:
Total area = 238 m²
Thickness of shear wall = 0.3 m
Weight = area ∗ thickness ∗ γconcrete

= 1785 KN

We calculate moment from live, for any internal beam using moment law for
simply supported beam, then compare it by the value from ETABS, if the
difference less than 10% then the check it's ok, otherwise we must have a
scientific justification.
An example for beam we choose (80 cm ∗50cm) in story 4

124.815

because we assume this beam carry half area from two directions and this is not
correct, its depend on moment distributing and stiffness of section.
