Introduction
The model college should provide knowledge to excel in Ayurveda as well as they
should sustain in present world by acquiring current medical knowledge and updates. It
should be a constituent or an affiliated college of a recognized university. Model college
should be permanently affiliated and recognized by the Central Council of Indian
Medicine and Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi, from time to time. It should be entitled to
avail all the financial grants and other benefits to cater to the needs of graduates as
well as postgraduates and postdoctoral courses to attract the best students. The
college/university must be known for its strict discipline and regularity in holding of
lectures/classes and sensitive towards feelings and needs of students. It should emerge
as a leader in this area in the field of Ayurveda education, research and quality patient
care. It must encourage spectacular results in sports and cultural activities. It should
have multi-disciplinary approach for quality research and training of students. It should
conduct periodical lectures, seminars, orations and workshops on current topics to train
and educate the students as per the need of the hour. The college/university should
strive for excellence by all means by providing and catering to the needs of education,
research and training producing graduates, postgraduates, and research scholars
equipped with knowledge, skill and professional competence and good personality. The
college should have a quality audit mechanism to maintain high standards.
Aims and Objectives of the College
 It should provide favorable atmosphere for learning environment for overall
development of students.
 It must offer an environment to build a confident and positive personality by
developing clinical skills and competencies for practice.
 It should provide basic human values like nationalism, patriotism, secularism and
others for the service of ailing mankind.
 It should provide for awareness among students regarding the need for
conservation of environment and sufficient knowledge about medicinal plants.
 It should provide atmosphere for overall clinical skill development by providing
basic infrastructure.
 Adequate knowledge in anatomy and physiology-Students must learn basic
anatomy and physiology by highly skilled teachers who can teach the subject
effectively.

hospital block with all basic facilities to carry out their
respective works.
Kshara Karma
A Kshara Karma unit and an Agni Karma unit should be
provided in the hospital block with all basic facilities to
carry out their respective works.
Kriyakalpa Unit
Shalakya department should consist of a Tarpana unit,
Anjana unit, Nasya unit, etc., which should be provided
in the hospital block with all basic facilities to carry out
their respective works to provide service in the
management of ear, nose and eye disorders.
Yoga Room
Separate allocation of space in the hospital for Yoga
demonstration should be made to train as well as to
indulge and encourage the patients to attend yogic
practices in the morning and evening hours.

Adequate resources pertaining to latest publications
and current researches should be provided by
subscribing to periodic journals and proper access to
internet facility. Library must be good with all resources.
Conducive atmosphere for reading must be provided
and must have all latest publications and sufficient
books and it should be open 24 hours.
Research Wing
Adequate facilities for collaborative research to prove
the scientific validity of ancient knowledge should be
provided. Systematization of Ayurvedic knowledge with
current researches is essential to explain the things
globally. Redesign and restructure objective skill-
oriented study design from time to time to handle the
existing challenges in patient care. Current updates and
its utility in clinical practice must be highlighted. In
order to meet the challenges of the current medical
practice, fruitful cooperation and collaboration with
foreign universities in near future and other universities
should be established.
Medicinal Plants Garden
Medicinal plants garden should have maximum
collection of plants to train the students to acquire
knowledge of medicinal plants and their identification.
Encourage medicinal plants cultivation in all corners of
India because environmental influence brings lot of
changes in growth of medicinal plants. Some medicines
must be administered in fresh form to get maximum
therapeutic efficacy and such plants must be grown in
campus of the university or college to provide to ailing
patients. Ayurveda mentions CHIKITSA CHATUSPADA
(Four Limbs of Treatment), namely, the physician, the
attendant (nurse), the drug and the patient and all the
four should be competent and well trained for the
outcome of treatment.
Pharmacy
A good pharmacy must be opened in the college campus
to provide quality medicines for the patients visiting the
hospital and to train the patients’ attendants and
patients to prepare common medicines in their home.

girls and boys with all basic amenities and internet
services.

in the college as well as the hospital from time to time.
Conclusion
Education must have the vision of revitalizing Ayurveda
with modern technological innovations at par with
international standards with a strong base for quality
Ayurveda education. The institution must monitor from
time to time about its progress in the current scenario
with standard assessment criteria set by government
bodies for its upgradation. Various faculty development
programs, refresher courses, etc., should be organized
from time to time to upgrade the teaching staff. Facility
and atmosphere should be created for sound
knowledge in theory, practical and clinical knowledge. In
a nut shell, it should bring up specialists from all
divisions who will provide proficient Ayurvedic care.
