Describe the role of relationships,communication and reflection in providing

effective and high quality early educations within your setting include:(a)
the relationships and communication flow between staff, parents, children
and families. (b) the role of reflection. (c) children making choices. Explain
why these are an important part of providing high quality early education.

(a) the relationships and communication flow between staff, parents,

children and families Creating trusting relationships between staff and
children and staff, children and their families. Parents and staff can exchange
information about a child eg parents can tell staff about their child's
personality, their favourite activity, any learning/physical/social/emotional
problems, any allergies, family situation (siblings? single parent family?) etc,
and staff can tell parents about what their child has been doing, what sort of
day they had, if their child has had any difficulties, if their child has made a
new achievement, if the parents need to bring in more nappies/wipes/cream
etc.... staff can also build up positive relationships with children by activily
listening to them and valuing what they say. This builds up a trust between you
that improves the child's self esteem and makes them feel safe .... Positive
relationships can be built with a child's family eg by doing home visits before a
child starts at the nursery, by sending home newsletters, and by inviting family
members to special occasions eg parents evening, Christmas Carol singing,
special assemblies (Harvest) or events (Carnival Day) .......all this goes towards
providing effective and high quality early educations within your setting.

(b) the role of reflection reflection can be used as a tool for looking back at a
particular activity or the way you have responded to a situation and seeing if
you could improve your practise in any way, and make a note of what went
wrong and what could be done better next time. You can also reflect on an
activity that went particularly well and pass on this information to fellow
practitioners, again providing effective and high quality early educations within
your setting.

(c) children making choices This is important as it boosts the self esteem of
the child who is making the decisions eg what book they would like at
storytime, or what fruit they would like at snacktime - it allows the child to
feel that they are in control and they like this feeling of responsibilty as it
makes them feel valued and this, in turn, improves their self confidence and
makes them inclined to become more independant - your setting is providing
effective and high quality early educations because this is a vital life skill that
children use more and more as they get older.
