ABSTRACT
Total quality management is frequently considered to be a means for achieving
competitive advantage. Small businesses have several limitations when they implement quality
practices. However, total quality practices can foster the creation of the indispensable knowledge
for continuous improvement and for competing in the current markets. The management of
knowledge has also been identified as an important antecedent of performance. The most
significant implication of this article is that small businesses should pay more attention to total
quality management practices, as these can support both knowledge management practices and
organizational performance.
This paper discusses the adoption of quality management is a description of the culture,
attitude and organization of a company that aims to provide, and continue to provide, its
customers with products and services that satisfy their needs. Purpose of the paper aimed at
motivating the legitimacy of implementation of kaizen system – the philosophy conducting to the
continuous improvement of processes and products by the responsibility of all workers. Six
Sigma is an industry-accepted and proven methodology used for business process improvement.
This methodology helps an organization achieve a superior performance and improved
profitability, and is very effective for service-based businesses as well as those that are product-
related. The Six Sigma program applies several specialized skill sets to streamline operations
including process analysis, statistical measurement, and group facilitation. The paper is also
including 5’s housekeeping and how it works. The just-in-time (JIT) approach to manufacturing
control with Kanban has received much attention in the last decade.
