Project | The Ocean Sanctuary

Location | Dubai, UAE

Date | 2016

Course | Thesis Project

Ocean Sanctuary is a Marine Convservation Center where people can learn about oceanography and educate their chil-
dren on how to treat the ocean. This sanctuary targets daily visitors and long-stay students as it serves as an exhibition
center as well as a marine school. This educational center comprises of 3-storeys, each level with a purpose, the ground
floor is mainly for the public with a theatre and a gift shop; it is where the guests begin and end their journey. The first
floor is the main floor with the multi-sensory rooms, each room with a different theme and exploring a different cause.
The second floor is for students only where there are classrooms and labs for the educational programs. The aim is
to spread Marine Conservation awareness in Dubai through this center by using the theory of sensory experience to
create the biggest impact on society making sure they use all there five senses throughout their journey. Located in Sun-
set Mall in Jumeirah Beach Road with a proximity to the ocean. The design of the Ocean Sanctuary consists of organic
shapes to give a flow to the space and resemble oceanic creatures. It is designed to create a comfortable yet intriguing
setting with the use of modern technology. For example, in the multi-sensory room “Under The Sea” there is a stretch
ceiling which has been used in order to show projections of being under water. The overall design is very minimal in
order to not grab the focus from the main natural elements. Therefore each space is designed to compliment and work
in conjunction with the sensory experience.

GEOPARADISE
Project | Geoparadise

Location | Tahiti

Date | 2016

Course | Hospitality Design

In this project we had to design a hotel room. Geoparadise is a tropical escape in the Carribean with the sole purpose of al-
lowing guests to have a variety of options for the type of vacation they need. This hotel has three different types of rooms
based on the guests and their personal choice. Varying from rooms in the middle of the ocean, made for the sea lovers, rooms
on the shore, where guests can enjoy the sand and the view of the sea, also rooms in the middle of the green forest. When it
comes to design, Geoparadise follows one inspiration which is the Geodesic dome, as this is an adaptable shape that can be
used in different environments making it suitable for all three themes. However, the interior of each type is based on the en-
viroment around it, For example, in the Sandy Shores room, there are some areas where the floor is sand and there are nets
covering the seating area in order to give a nautical feel. Another unique aspect of this hotel is its suitability for pets. In all
the hotel rooms, there are spaces for the pets to be pampered as much as the guests. This is what makes Geoparadise unique.

KHAIMAT AL LUALUA
Project | Khaimat Al Lualua

Location | Dubai, UAE

Date | 2016

Course | Hospitality Design

Khaimat Al Lualua is a women’s spa located in Al Bastakiya for women of all ages and nationalities. It is a spa inspired
from th UAE and its Bedouins. The main inspiration comes from the migration journey of the bedouins by camel from
emirate to emirate and their use of natural materials for treatments. The UAE is known to have seven emirates, in each
emirate there is a different color of sand. and each emirate is famous for something. Therefore, each room in the spa is
designated to a paticular emirate with its element and color of sand. Art, hospitality, knowledge, minerals, pearls, dates,
and oils are the seven elements found around the spa. A main design feature used all around the spa is the geodesic
shape which is inspired from the bedouin tent and implemented in different areas in each emirate.

BASK-IN
Project | Bask-in

Bask-in, a bathtub designed to fit all your needs. The process of this design was through metamorphosis, a 10 step transformation
from a single image of a basking shark. Inspired from the skeletal structure of the shark’s mouth and its streamline shape, this bath-
tub’s organic outline is made of wood. The wood used is Hinoki wood, a special type of wood in Japan that is known to release
scents, this is to help with the aromatic experience. I have also integrated a Kohler Bubble Massage therapy system; which makes
it suitable for medical conditions. For the music lovers, there are speakers on each side making this bathtub even more enjoyable.
