1.1.7 Velocity
To avoid the deposition of suspended solids, the following minimum self-cleaning
velocity will be maintained as per CPHEEO Manual on Sewerage and Sewage
Treatment, Clause 3.15.1 Pg. 3-26. However, upstream sewers may not meet
minimum velocity criteria because of very low flow contributions unless the sewers are
made very steep, which results in the whole sewer networks on downstream side very
deep for excavation. Minimum and maximum velocity for different flow presented in
Table 4.

considered for sanitary sewers.

1.1.12 Manholes
The circular manholes will be proposed at all the junctions, change of diameters, and
change in pipe gradients and on straight run of sewer at 30m interval for all diameters.
Drop manholes are proposed where the difference between invert level of lateral /
branch sewer and maximum water level (at design peak flows) of main sewer is more
than 600mm
