1 - Ecuador is a small country but with many fascinating features.

Overview of Ecuador

2 - What's that? Llama calling?


1. The class will begin with images of Ecuador projected onto the board. The
students will use previous studied vocabulary to describe these images.

2. The students will watch a short video about Ecuador. They will work in small
groups to discuss their impressions of the video.

3. After group discussions, students will have the chance to share their individual
thoughts about Ecuador. Do they know anyone who has ever been? Would they
like to go? Why?
4. Students will then read a short passage about Ecuador and have to respond to
questions.
5. As a follow up assignment, students will work in groups to produce a short

4. Students produce a video regarding what they have learned about Ecuador and
why the want to visit.

Learning Environment:
The classroom experience is improved through the use of video and audio.
Teacher characteristics:
The delivery of the teacher's lesson is enhanced through the use of video and sound.
The videos that the students produce will allow the teacher to keep a record and review
over time the progress of the students.
Student characteristics:
The students are able to visit and experience the beauty of Ecuador without having to
travel there. The students can watch themselves on video and see where they need to
improve in terms of fluency.

1. The students will produce a video using Vimeo describing their thoughts on
Ecuador, why they would like to travel there and what they would like to see.
2. The students will answer questions based on a reading about Ecuador that will
include vocabulary that will be useful to them in not only English class but
Geography as well.
Assessment

1. There will be a rubric used to asses the video that the students produce after the
lesson. This will include points regarding accuracy, coherence, punctuation,
attention to specific details.
2. The students' written work will also be assessed through the yearlong journal
they keep.
3. The students will complete a vocabulary quiz based on the words studied during
the lesson.

Learning Environment:
Collaborative use of tools, some student choice of exploration.
Teacher characteristics:
The teacher provides opportunities for students to use technology to work with others.
The teacher selects and provides technology tools for students to use in collaborative
ways, and encourages students to begin exploring the use of these tools. The teacher
presents video and worksheet to the students that they then later need to work with.
Student characteristics:
Students independently use technology tools in conventional ways for collaboration.
Students are developing a conceptual understanding of the use of technology tools for
working with others. The students use Vimeo to produce a video.

The students work inside and outside of the classroom. The classroom needs a projector,
screen, and video capabilities.

The teacher supervises the working environment ensuring that the technology is
functioning and students are on task.
Student characteristics:
The students watched the video, spoke to classmates and performed the reading task in
the classroom. They film their video and complete interviews outside of the classroom.
