Foreword
“The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting
well.”—Hippocrates (460BC-370BC)
While researching the Chinese Meridian System on YouTube, I inadvertently
stumbled on “Self-Healing Techniques” in which Master Xiao gave quite
detailed explanation of his philosophy and approach. From prior knowledge and
background in natural medicine I appreciated how and why this therapy works
immediately. Such a simple, practical therapeutic application was what I had
been hoping to find during my study and practice of natural medicine and also
recently, while attempting to recover my own health. The guiding principle that
the body has the ability to heal itself underlies many of the modalities used in
modern natural medicine. However, Master Xiao's techniques showed me for the
very first time how this natural force could be rekindled to extraordinary effect,
at the same time covering very broad spectrum disease.
Paida Lajin Self-healing techniques validates the phrase, “Nature is the
physician of diseases” or “vix medicatrix naturae” often used in natural
medicine and attributed to Hippocrates. The simple techniques demonstrate that,
given the right impetus, the human body being the "living laboratory" that it is,
with its innate wisdom knows exactly how to effect great healing. Paida
Lajin—empiric therapy, yet demonstrably scientific can only be described as a
gift from God.
Master Xiao’s Paida Lajin Self-Healing is proof indeed that "The natural
healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.” And of
course, the phenomenal number of personal experiences and testimonials
expressed worldwide speak for themselves. I too am pleased to have had the
privilege of experiencing its healing effects first-hand.

I was born on December 27, 1949 in Jakarta, Indonesia. I studied medicine
in Belgium in KUL (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) where I finished in 1977.
In 1979 I passed the Examination of Medical Part of ECFMG (Educational
Commission For Medical Graduates) in USA. From 1980-1985 I followed
Anaesthesiology training at O.L.V. (Onze Lieve Vrouw) Clinic, Aalst, Belgium.
I worked as an Anesthesiologist in Zuiderzee Hospital, Lelystad, The
Netherlands untill March 1987. From April 1987 untill March 2006 I worked in
the Vlietland hospital (Schiedam, the Netherlands). In 1988 I was educated in
Pain Practice in the Spaarne hospital from Dr Michael Sanders, Pain Specialist.
From 1992-1996 I was a senior lecturer in Pain Therapy at the Erasmus
Medisch Centrum, Rotterdam. In 2000 I passed the examination for X-Ray
Hygiene and in 2007 became a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practise (FIPP).
Since March 2006 I work in the St-Anna hospital (Geldrop, the Netherlands)
as a Pain Practitioner, where I did scientific studies for my PhD-thesis with the
title; Minimal Invasive Therapy in patients with Head and Neck Pain.
In my hospital, as a single pain practitioner in 2015, I treated 748 new
patients and used Radio Frequency in 1879 cases and other pain treatment
techniques in 631cases.
In 2016, I worked the last year before my retirement and in the last years I
thought several times how do I fulfill my free times, what do I manage my
health?
Herewith I will tell everybody how do I know Paida lajin finally! It is
amazing that I could experience and convince in this technique as a relief from
what I was looking for my health. I got a lot of informations and story over
Paida Lajin in 2015 from my sister, also a doctor, MSc. But I still ignored this
opportunity. The idea to experience Paida Lajin came finally in October when I
have been asked again after 3 times for giving a presentation over Deep
Friction /massage. I answered if I could talk about other method. Paida Lajin
will be chosen and I prepared the presentation and tried this technique to
myself with comfortable astonishing results for my knees and back. Following
this I advised some patients to do this exercise at home especially if the regular
therapy didn’t help. On 27th November 2016 I gave presentation again about
Paida Lajin to the massage school, Tai Chi school and my friends. The result is
amazing. This increases my motivation and confidence to do this Paida Lajin.
This year, 2016, I stop working as a pain practitioner in Geldrop, The
Netherlands. In 2017 I am planning to teach at a college at the university in
Malang, Indonesia.

Preface: Can I really heal myself?
The medical industry puts enormous social resources in the downstream
of a person’s life. Doctors are busy rescuing “drowning” patients in the river
flood, while ignoring soil and water conservation in the upper reaches of the
river.
Instead of repeating the same old story, we hope that humanity can solve
health problems earlier rather than later. Is there a philosophy and a method to
achieve this goal?
Well, the universe has given us the abilities to do so, but we have long
abandoned them. However, these capabilities have existed within human
culture like an ancient seed lying dormant for millennia, waiting to surface.
This seed is our innate self-healing mechanism. In fact, we humans are the only
species on earth that gives up on self-healing, while plants and animals live and
multiply thanks to their self-healing power.
Many ordinary people have discovered their own huge potential in
preventing and self-healing diseases through PaidaLajin.
PaidaLajin is a method that activates the self-healing mechanism in us. It
is not a medical therapy, but includes slapping and stretching exercises that are
simpler than yoga and T’ai Chi. Almost everyone can learn the techniques in a
few minutes. PaidaLajin is an amazing way to prevent, diagnose, and heal
diseases. It reclaims our human nature, and manifests the divine in us.
The universal values of PaidaLajin are derived from an ancient outlook
on the universe and health care: positive energy inside the body wards off
illness. This philosophy can be traced back to the ancient Chinese classics
Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine) and
Tao Te Ching.
Thanks to its simple and effective nature, PaidaLajin has spread to over
60 countries and territories over the past six years. Tens of millions of people of
different skin colors, religious beliefs (including Buddhism, Christianity, Islam,
and Hinduism), and social backgrounds are practicing and benefiting from
PaidaLajin. We have received testimonials from people across the world who
have gained relief from or self-healed various pains, cancer, stroke, diabetes,
psoriasis, depression, hypertension, heart disease, uterine fibroids, and many
other illnesses, some of which are not recognized by Western medicine.
Our data, collected from 2009–2015, conservatively estimates that
practicing PaidaLajin helps prevent and provides self-healing in 50% of
illnesses. In 2015, we worked with the TAG VHS Diabetes Research Centre in
India in strict accordance with standards of Western medicine. The medical
experts’ clinical report shows that PaidaLajin can indeed prevent illnesses,
improve health, enthusiasm, and energy level; it has good curative effect on
Type I and II diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and
other chronic diseases. It has even better effect in relieving lower back and leg
pains.
In August 2011, we conducted post-workshop telephone interviews with
the participants of Chinese workshops. We discovered that the effective rates of
PaidaLajin in healing diabetes, hypertension, lower back and leg pains were
over 86%. For those who stopped medication and practiced PaidaLajin, 93%
reported better health than when they were under medication; the remaining 7%
maintained the same health condition as when they were under medication,
which was an improvement in itself.
In December 2015, we conducted end-of-workshop and post-workshop
surveys, and found that during the workshop, over 90% of the participants
improved their diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, neck, shoulder, back,
waist, and leg pains. Back at home, their health condition was significantly
better than before the workshop, whether they continued to practice PaidaLajin
or not. Eighty-four percent of those who continued the practice experienced the
most obvious improvements. And over 62% of those under medication stopped
it, with the approval from their doctors, after the workshop.
PaidaLajin has proven more effective than cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) in relieving acute heart attack. It is 80% effective in relieving
non-bleeding acute symptoms, such as cold, fever, cramps, headache, motion
sickness, menstrual pain, acute gastroenteritis, acute heart attack, and acute
sports injuries.
All those who support self-healing through PaidaLajin have one thing in
common: they have personally practiced it.
PaidaLajin can be learned by men and women, young and old, in just a
few minutes. It transcends the mystery and complexity of medical practices,
yoga, T’ai Chi, Qi Gong, and other therapies. PaidaLajin can benefit humanity
because it is a non-medical therapy, a set of exercises, a way of life, and a way
of thinking.
In addition to PaidaLajin, we recommend practicing Heart Chan
meditation, another non-medical therapy based on the same principles. At our
self-healing workshops, we meditate twice a day, once in the morning and once
in the evening. PaidaLajin and meditation complement one another. Both are
modes for internal cleansing and based on the same TCM principle. PaidaLajin
is more focused on physical healing, and Heart Chan meditation is more
focused on eliminating worries, fears, and resentment, which is the major cause
of all illness.
Our body, heart, and soul are an integral whole. PaidaLajin improves our
physical health; it naturally enhances the quality of meditation and leads to
spiritual ascension.
At a PaidaLajin workshop in California, we invited well-seasoned
meditation teacher Donald Hwong to teach meditation to the participants.
Those with meditation experience found that after PaidaLajin, they were able
to meditate more easily and deeply; and those with no previous meditation
experience felt that meditation is also a wonderful way to cleanse their blocked
meridians.
Therefore, I purposefully include a link to purchase the book for learning
Heart Chan Meditation at the back of the book. Our hope is that readers will
combine the practice of PaidaLajin with Heart Chan meditation to enjoy a
more wholesome and joyful life experience.

The inherent ability in the human body as well as in plants and animals to
repair and heal itself is the self-healing power. Any method that mobilizes this
power is a self-healing method.
The immune and self-reparatory functions are part of our self-healing
power. It enables the body to produce in vivo 1 various biochemical substances
according to the person’s specific needs, thus self-healing diseases. These
biochemical substances can be referred to as “endogenous medicine” or
“organic medicine” without any side effects.
Hippocrates, Father of Western medicine, repeatedly stressed that the
body contains within itself the power to re-balance and heal itself. The duty of
a doctor is to try as much as possible to mobilize this power, and not to take its
place. This is an ancient interpretation of self-healing.
What is PaidaLajin?
Paida means to use hands and/or tools to repeatedly slap parts of the
entire body at a tolerable intensity in order to enable the smooth energy flow in
meridians (energy channels in the body that are connected to their respective
organs). You can do it on your own, with, or for others.
Paida is also a natural diagnostic method. In ancient times, it was called
Diao Shang (revealing old injuries) because slapping revealed and healed
injuries and diseases in the body. When there is no health problem, nothing will
be revealed.
Lajin means to stretch the limbs and joints of the body with very simple
methods, to make the bones in place and tendons flexible, and to enable smooth
energy flow in meridians. The most effective and most often used method is
Lajin in a reclining posture, i.e., stretching on a specially made Lajin bench
with one leg raised (see Chapter III, Section 3 Seven Common Lajin
Postures and Their Effects).
Paida and Lajin are much simpler than the popular yoga and T’ai Chi.
Practicing PaidaLajin boosts Qi (vital life energy) and blood flow, and
enhances the self-healing power. With better Qi and blood flow, we may feel
“discomforts” at the blockages (toxins and wastes that induce diseases and
various symptoms) in the meridians, including pain, soreness, numbness, and
swelling sensation. Diseases are self-healed during the process of overcoming
such “discomforts.” Diagnostic, treatment, disease prevention, and anti-aging
effects are achieved—blockages in the meridians are unblocked, the flow of Qi
and blood is boosted, immunity is enhanced, diseases are self-healed, and life
expectancy is increased.
Paida and Lajin are not medical treatments as defined in modern medicine;
they are health maintenance and self-healing methods that can be practiced by
everyone.
PaidaLajin does not threaten to replace mainstream medicine or other
natural therapies. It can, however, complement other therapies.
PaidaLajin’s efficacy in healing pains, diabetes, hypertension, heart
disease, and Parkinson’s disease are backed by the results of exams conducted
by medical institutions in accordance with medical standards. The efficacies of
PaidaLajin in healing other diseases are based on testimonials from thousands
and millions of people who practice it. Medical institutions can also verify
these.
The advantages of PaidaLajin are that everyone can practice it, it is
efficacious, and it can be readily shared with others. Ironically, PaidaLajin’s
amazing healing effects can also be a drawback. It can seem too good to be true.
We are used to the complexity of things, and so the results of the simplest
PaidaLajin contradict mainstream education. Self-healing with PaidaLajin
involves a change of mind and way of life, which is a great challenge for most
people.
All those who support self-healing with PaidaLajin have one thing in
common: They came to their conclusions after personal practice. The efficacies
and cost-effectiveness of patients healing diseases on their own or for each
other can be far better than those of medical professionals.
The truest way is the simplest. Anyone can easily access it. Practice
PaidaLajin yourself, and you will know it.
Complex diseases
People seldom have only one illness; there are always a greater number of
health risks and unknown diseases behind known ones. Moreover, these
diseases are interrelated, and the symptoms are causes and effects of each other.
All known and unknown diseases and symptoms put together are called
“complex diseases.”
In effect, all diseases are complex. Even such common ailments as cold,
fever, and coughing are complex diseases. They relate to the immune system,
which is in turn related to the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, and kidneys. Chronic
diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, liver and kidney
disorders, cancer, etc., are without doubt complex diseases, i.e., they are
manifestations of the malfunctioning of all internal organs.
Since diseases are invariably complex, we should not focus merely on
treating known diseases and symptoms, but should turn our attention to the
underlying causes. This explains why we keep reminding people to “ignore the
disease name.” We should holistically empower our self-healing mechanism to
do its job, because it is the self-healing power, not anything else, that heals all
known and unknown diseases. The effect of holistic healing goes beyond that
of compartmentalized treatments. All cells, organs, and systems in our body
form an integral whole, and they thrive or wither together.
No therapy or drug in the world is a panacea for all known and unknown
diseases. There are many natural, holistic therapies out there. And we have
specially chosen Paida and Lajin to promote worldwide. It is not only because
they are simple to practice and produce quick, amazing effects, but also
because they do not target a specific disease or symptom, but activate our
innate self-healing power, which diagnoses and treats all diseases in the body.
That is to say, from diagnosis to treatment, Paida and Lajin function
holistically. This explains why Paida and Lajin are so effective in healing
complex, chronic diseases.
Complex diseases may appear complicated, but the fundamental cause is
meridian blockage. Unblocking the blockages heals. And the beauty of Paida
and Lajin is that they can rapidly and effectively unblock the blockages in the
meridian system (a network of energy channels).
People may find it hard to accurately locate meridians and acupoints (also
called “acupuncture points,” i.e., important points along meridians stimulated
for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), much more so if they need to
utilize complicated knowledge, drugs, equipment, and procedures—that is why
many tend to give up on self-healing. For ordinary people without specialized
training in medicine, PaidaLajin is the best basic healing practice, and it can be
an advanced therapy that they can dig deeper into and discover its full
potential.
Efficacy is what really matters. Paida and Lajin may appear simple, yet
they can be more effective in healing complex diseases than mainstream
medical practices. Many diseases that doctors cannot cure are self-healed by
ordinary people using these two unbelievably simple methods. Treating
complex diseases with simple methods is as people always put it, “The truest
way is the simplest.” This is indeed an accurate and concrete interpretation of
the “Way (Tao).”
And, by self-healing complex diseases, people will gain fresh insights into
life and its health. Their quality of life will be enhanced thanks to their
improved health condition. And they will move from physical healing to
spiritual healing, and from health management to life management.
Healing reactions
If you are very sick or have been sick for long, and have not experienced
a healing crisis after taking much Chinese medicine, then most likely your
illness will not be cured, for you were not treated by a genuine TCM doctor;
if you are a TCM doctor and have given countless prescriptions to your
patients, but none of them have felt any healing reactions, then you will most
likely think that Chinese medicine indeed works slowly, for you are not a
genuine TCM doctor.
The concept of healing crisis first appeared in the ancient Chinese
classic Shangshu over two millennia ago. In the section On Life, it says, “A
grave, chronic illness will not be cured if no healing crisis is felt after
medication.” Later Chinese texts explained that healing crises refer to
discomforts felt during treatment.
In his book Shang Han Lun (also known as Discussion of Cold-Induced
Disorders), Zhang Zhongjing, revered as Sage of Chinese Medicine, included
several entries on healing crises.
For instance:
“After medication, the symptoms will be slightly relieved, and the
patient will feel dizzy and restless. In severe cases, the nose will bleed. After
nose-bleeding, the illness will be cured.”
“After taking three prescriptions of Chinese medicine, the patient will
feel dizzy and listless. Do not panic. White atractylodes rhizome and
monkshood 2 are taking effect beneath the skin and haven’t fully driven out
dampness.”
“After taking Chai Hu Tang 3, the patient will tremble and then have
warm sweats. After that comes recovery.”
Dr. Hu Xishu (1898–1984, a renowned TCM doctor in contemporary
China) repeatedly stressed that a patient could easily experience healing crises
after taking Chai Hu Tang. Specifically, the patient could shiver with chills
and then sweat a lot.
Dr. Hu said, “If a patient is not weak, there won’t be healing reactions.
And after these reactions, the disease will soon be cured.”
Dr. Hu cautioned doctors and patients to be aware of this healing cycle.
He himself had been woken up at midnight because of a patient’s healing
crisis. The diarrhea patient was a child, and after drinking Dr. Hu’s prescribed
medicine, the diarrhea became even worse. His family members knocked on
Dr. Hu’s door at midnight, insisting that he should go and see the child. When
Dr. Hu arrived there, the child’s condition was already much improved.
Then Dr. Hu said, “Give the child the medicinal soup again.”
Initially, the child’s mother was afraid to do so. But after drinking the
soup, the child fully recovered the next day.
In cases of healing crises, the doctor needs to stand firm and should not
acquiesce and change the prescription. Additionally, the doctor needs to
explain clearly to the patient what is happening. All healing efforts will be
wasted if the patient becomes frightened and goes for emergency treatment.
Healing crises are detox reactions or recovery responses during disease
treatment. When the medicine is fighting off a disease, positive and negative
energies in the body are engaged in the fight. Various discomforts can appear.
When the positive energy is winning the battle, the negative energy will
My Comment:
You see, this article helps to explain why PaidaLajin is so effective. If you
practice PaidaLajin diligently, you are bound to experience healing crises, i.e.,
intense healing reactions. Why did the late TCM master Li Ke support the
promotion of PaidaLajin? Mostly because of the healing crises and self-healing
effects. When Dr. Li Ke himself used medicine to treat patients, they would
soon experience healing crises.
During one of my seminars in Switzerland, I met with a number of Swiss
TCM doctors who used medicinal herbs to boost Yang energy in patients. They
loved PaidaLajin. And I told them, “Both Paida and Lajin help boost Yang
energy. The only difference is we are not using ginger, cassia twig, or
monkshood (medicinal herbs hot in nature), but the ‘medicine’ produced in the
human body.”
What is the core function of PaidaLajin? To boost Yang energy.
Healing reactions according to Taoism
Healing reactions can occur when you practice yoga, T’ai Chi, Qi Gong,
meditation, or other traditional exercises. Taoism has a very clear interpretation
of the phenomena. The following is for your reference:
1. When Yang energy rises, Yin energy falls, and vice versa. The Yin and
Yang energies constantly re-organize until they eventually reach equilibrium. A
healthy person is well balanced. Getting sick indicates a Yin-Yang imbalance,
which is invariably caused by meridian blockages. Unblocking meridian
blockages heals.
2. All Chinese therapies, including cupping, bone setting, skin scraping,
acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion, and herbal medicine are aimed at
clearing meridian blockages. The same is true with PaidaLajin, only it works
more efficiently.
3. The overall trend of a person’s health from birth to death is rising Yin
energy and declining Yang energy. PaidaLajin boosts Yang energy and curbs
Yin energy. During this process, pains and diseases are naturally self-healed,
and it has a proven anti-aging effect.
There are many natural, holistic therapies. Each is precious in its own way.
Due to various reasons, it is a challenge to share most of these therapies on a
large scale. PaidaLajin has great overall healing effects, and it is
complementary to other therapies.
From the perspectives of science and Western medicine, there are infinite
mysteries in PaidaLajin waiting to be unraveled.
To establish scientific evidence, the research method should be universally
acknowledged, the subjects observed and measured, and the research results
must be quantifiable and repeatable. PaidaLajin meets all these research
requirements.
Now, let us put aside hypotheses, and use general Western medicine and
scientific theories, methods, and vocabulary to explain how PaidaLajin works.

Energy Metabolism by the Skeleton, Cell 130: 456-469).
session can be up to 40 minutes per leg. Although the body remains static,
Lajin is a strong stimulus to Qi and blood in the body. PaidaLajin strongly
stimulates the perichondrium and skeletal muscles. During this process, pain
and other sensations are felt. And the body produces various endocrine
secretions specific to individual needs, including stem cells, insulin, adrenaline,
enkephalin, and other hormones.
As PaidaLajin stimulates specific endocrine secretions, activates the
self-healing power, and enhances immunity, it is only natural that it can heal
chronic diseases. By practicing PaidaLajin, a diabetic patient can produce
insulin in vivo; a menopausal woman can produce needed hormones in vivo;
and patients with other diseases can produce stem cells, adrenaline, endorphin,
and enkephalin in vivo. The physical, chemical, and biological transformation
process varies from person to person. It testifies to the long-standing theory in
Chinese medicine that the body can produce “endogenous medicine,” that is,
whatever medicine a patient needs can be produced in vivo with proper
stimulation. Such “endogenous medicine” has no toxic side effects. We can call
it “organic healing.”
New scientific evidence and practical PaidaLajin available to everyone
both unveil the magic of the self-healing power in us, proving how PaidaLajin
helps people self-heal diabetes and other illnesses, lose weight, enhance
cognition and fertility, and facilitate natural labor and child-rearing 5.

holographic in appearance. Around the body we would discern the aura, as
described in ancient beliefs. It exists to some extent in the detectable range of
extra-weak light as well as in the infrared and microwave parts of the
electro-magnetic spectrum. Modern technology has seen this become a new
area of serious scientific research.
In addition to being highly complex, the electromagnetic body is also
extremely dynamic. Unlike the chemical body, where the bones, organs,
vessels, and fibers have fixed positions, definite volumes, and distinct
boundaries, the electromagnetic “organs,” such as chakras, and some invisible
“vessels,” such as acupuncture meridians, exhibit only a relatively stable
position with nebulous boundaries and variable volumes. They are
continuously flashing and exhibit continuous changes in intensity, color, and
shape, like the surface of the ocean in a fierce storm. This turbulence is
particularly evident when the person is experiencing an intense change of
emotions and psychological states.
If we were able to perceive the electromagnetic field in greater detail, we
would witness tremendously complicated communication processes being
performed at extremely fast speeds. Electromagnetic waves and photons
facilitate communication inside the cells, between cells, between bodies, and
with the surroundings. All this occurs in addition to the communication
occurring through nerve fibers, hormones, and other molecules. As with
wireless communication and television broadcasting, communication through
electromagnetic fields carries much more information over much wider
channels than can be transmitted through insulated nerve fibers and the slow
interaction between the surfaces of molecules. Thus, communication within the
electromagnetic body has a more profound and subtle influence on our bodies
and health 6.”
According to Prof. Zhang’s research, the dissipative structure of the
“electromagnetic body” is unstable. It is constantly vibrating and has no clear
boundary. Its anatomical features are invisible to the naked eye. The
physiological feature is that the human body is holographic and indivisible. The
vitality feature is that the “electromagnetic body” governs the “chemical body,”
i.e., re-organization of the former leads to re-organization of the latter. And the
pathological feature is that the “electromagnetic body” is directly influenced by
changes in its boundary.
PaidaLajin is the simplest way of changing the boundary of a person’s
“electromagnetic body.” A direct result of PaidaLajin is re-organization of the
“electromagnetic body,” and subsequent transformation of the “chemical body.”
The order of the life structure is re-organized, i.e., it is a re-organization of and
balance between matter and energy, rule and freedom.

authored by Prof. Changlin Zhang and Jonathan Heaney, published by North Atlantic Books,
Berkeley, California, US on July 15, 2016, P109-110.
PaidaLajin induces changes in the following ways:
1. The pain of PaidaLajin stimulates the heart to change its frequency,
leading to changes in the frequencies of all organs and cells of the body. That is
to say, when the boundary of the “electromagnetic body” is changed, its
dissipative structure is changed, and the “chemical body” is consequently
changed. This is consistent with the above-explained Theory of Vibration.
2. There is limited physical damage to the parts stimulated by PaidaLajin,
i.e., the boundary is changed, which leads to changes in the “electromagnetic
body.” Normally, much negative charge exists where there are lumps, toxins,
tumors, inflamed tissues, or other health problems. PaidaLajin produces much
positive charge at the stimulated areas, which neutralizes the negative charge,
decomposes toxins, tumors and other pathogenic substances, and contributes to
Yin-Yang balance.
3. The process of PaidaLajin produces a dialogue between the body and
the mind. Confidence in PaidaLajin produces the right “resonance” between
them, and is conducive to self-healing. Oneness is perfect harmony of the body,
mind, and soul.
Conclusion
Section I Paida
What is Paida?
Paida (拍打; pinyin: pāi da): To use hands and/or tools to slap repeatedly
on a part of the body or the entire body at an acceptable intensity, in order to
enhance Qi, manifest and remove meridian blockages, thus inducing
self-healing.
Paida is also the most ancient natural diagnostic method. As pains and
diseases were clearly manifested as Sha and other symptoms, in ancient China,
the therapy was not called Paida, but Diao Shang, or revealing and then
healing injuries and diseases. If a person has no illness, no Sha or other healing
reactions will appear during Paida.
1. The skin is closely linked to the meridian system, limbs, internal organs,
and nine orifices (eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, urethra, and anus) of your body.
Paida is an all-round activation of the slapped skin, the underlying muscles,
bones, meridians, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, nervous and other cells,
and all systems of the body.
2. The slapped area automatically gathers more Qi and blood. Qi propels
blood flow. Paida improves Qi and blood circulation. The enhanced Qi acts as
a cleaner—it automatically scans the entire body, identifying meridian
blockages and removing them. All harmful wastes, toxins, tumors, etc., will be
gradually swept out of your body.
3. Paida boosts the power of the “Heart” and your confidence in
self-healing.
4. From the perspective of Western medicine, Paida is a proactive
“sabotage” that stimulates the central nervous system (CNS) to mobilize the
energy, blood, various secretions, and the nervous, immune, and lymphatic
systems to repair damage, thus enhancing the body’s self-repair capacity and
immunity.
1. Normally, solid slaps are used in Paida. Hollow slaps are occasionally
used. Solid slaps produce a stronger stimulation and are more effective.
2. Hollow slaps are occasionally used to reduce the pain of Paida. Hold
the thumb close to the other four fingers that are kept close and straight, and it
creates a very shallow space in between. Hence, hollow slaps are basically still
solid slaps.
3. To intensify stimulation on certain parts of the body, the back of the
hand, mainly the knuckles of fingers aligned together, may be used.
4. Fists or a Paida tool can be used to increase penetration or to reduce the
volume of Paida sounds, or on certain parts of the body, for instance, fleshy
parts like the abdomen, buttocks and thighs; or on parts that cannot be easily
slapped using the palm, such as the armpits or groin areas. The sides of the
palms may also be used to chop at the groin areas.
5. When slapping a large region, such as the inner elbows, abdomen,
buttocks, thighs, and knees, the entire palm and fingers should be used. To slap
on a smaller area, you can primarily use fingers, with agile movements of the
wrist.
6. For areas that your hands cannot reach or where you cannot slap hard
enough with your hands, such as the back and the back of legs, Paida tools can
be used, such as special Paida sticks, soles of canvas shoes, wooden sticks,
stones, etc. The specially designed Paida stick is very flexible and suitable for
direct contact with the skin. The sides of the stick can be used to Paida uneven
parts of the body.
1. There is Qi in our hands. During Paida, not only is our strength used,
but also the Qi that penetrates deep inside the body. Conducting Paida with
hands is better than using tools that do not bear any Qi.
2. There are acupoints all over the palms. Paida with hands can, in the
long run, activate the six meridians on the hands, i.e., the Heart, Lung,
Pericardium, Large and Small Intestines, and Sanjiao (Triple Warmer)
meridians, which will in turn activate the six meridians on the feet and along
the legs, i.e., the Liver, Spleen, Kidney, Stomach, Gall Bladder and Urinary
Bladder meridians, and create a round of chain reactions that will benefit the
entire body. From the perspective of Quanxi theory (the holistic approach),
hands and feet are holographic reflex zones closely linked to all organs and
tissues of the body. Paida with hands treats all systems in the body, which is
what we call “carpet bombing” all past, existing, and latent diseases. Whether
you use hands to Paida yourself or others, the hands are also being slapped, i.e.,
action and reaction are equal in intensity. During the process, blockages in all
organs are being unblocked. Slapping others is also slapping yourself; helping
others is helping yourself.
3. When Paida is conducted with hands, what is most stimulated in the
palms are the Heart and Pericardium meridians, i.e., the heart is the organ most
stimulated. As the Heart is the “emperor” of our body, the stimulated power of
the Heart changes the nature of healing: Paida enables us to proactively act on
illnesses instead of passively awaiting external intervention. During self-help
Paida, one is in a state of both giving and receiving, which is more beneficial
as the entire cycle of cause and effect is experienced. This is a simple yet clear
manifestation of “oneness” and the wisdom that “the simplest way is the
truest.”
4. The arms and shoulders move along during Paida. Acupoints in the
hands are linked to the arms, shoulders, neck, brain, and heart. Neck and
shoulder problems and sleeping disorders are treated altogether during Paida.
The efficacy increases with greater intensity, longer duration, and greater
sweep of the arm’s movements.
A retired woman came to me complaining of shoulder and leg pains. I
advised her to slap her knees for two hours. The following day, she told me that
after slapping the knees, much of the leg pain was gone, and she was able to
raise her arms higher. A friend of mine slapped her knees for two hours while
we were chatting, and then she suddenly found her neck pain gone. The next
morning, she phoned me, saying she went straight to bed when she got home
and had the best sleep in years.
5. When using hands to slap, one can easily become exhausted and the
Paida cannot last long. For elderly people with a lot of illnesses, it is even
more difficult to persist in Paida. Moreover, it is inconvenient to slap on many
parts of the body, such as the back, the hind side of each leg, hands, feet, face,
joints along the limbs, and the hollow surface of bony areas. Use Paida tools
instead. It saves much effort, Sha comes out faster, and you can slap longer.
6. Use tools to slap on clothes-covered body parts, in order to save time
and effort, to reduce the pain of Paida, when it is inconvenient to slap on the
skin in cold weather, or for patients who cannot take the pain of direct Paida on
the skin.
7. Using hands to slap can sound quite “noisy” in public places and in the
quiet night. Use tools instead to reduce noise.
8. For frequent travelers, take a Paida stick along and it can be practiced
anytime, anywhere.
There are two types of Paida in terms of its intensity, i.e., gentle and
heavy Paida. They are relative concepts. The same intensity may be “gentle” to
one person, but “heavy” to another. The actual intensity varies with age, health
condition, pain tolerance, the part of the body being slapped, environmental,
and other factors.
Technically speaking, slapping with wrist movement is gentle Paida;
slapping with elbow joint movement is moderate Paida; slapping with shoulder
joint movement is heavy Paida. Gentle, moderate, and heavy Paida should be
used alternately. The general rule is to go gradually from gentle to heavy Paida,
and never start with heavy Paida. Adjust the intensity to the recipient’s pain
tolerance. In the beginning, the painful sensation can be quite intense, but after
a while, there will be less pain. At this point, the intensity may be increased
gradually. The greater the intensity, the more pain will be felt; but as long as the
pain is within a tolerable range, the effect of Paida will be better. However, it is
the recipient who has the final say on how much pain he/she can take. The
person doing Paida cannot force heavy Paida on the recipient. Gentle Paida
can be as good as, or even better than heavy Paida, but will require a longer
time. When a part of the body is slapped for up to one hour, the healing effect
will be better.

<Image 2.jpg>
<Image 3.jpg>
It is better to both slap yourself and each other. Self-help Paida is the
most essential self-healing exercise. The power of the Heart, the greatest power,
is mobilized. Everyone should, first of all, do self-help Paida, unless you
cannot do it yourself due to illness. It is good to alternate self-help and mutual
Paida. Mutual Paida creates a more positive atmosphere and a stronger energy
field, and some people do need help from others, especially the frail, the elderly,
the seriously ill, or those who face other inconveniences. Even when we
primarily do it on our own, there are areas where better effects will be gained if
others help us, for instance, the back, the armpits, the shoulders, the back of the
knees, the hind side of the legs, and other parts where self-help Paida can be
inconvenient.
Many people are over-protective of themselves—they Paida too gently
for the Sha to appear, which leads them to assume that they are in good health.
These people are mostly afraid of pain, indicating severe meridian blockages,
i.e., grave illnesses. For some people, it reveals weak heart and kidney
functions, lack of strength, and weak willpower, which tends to be more
common in men. All these are in essence manifestations of meridian blockages.
More often than not, when others slap them a bit more heavily, Sha will soon
come out.
The effect will be better when people help each other Paida. Many people
who persist in year-round sports or Qi Gong practice assume that they are quite
healthy. For even with regular Paida, Sha does not appear easily on them.
However, when they slap each other, much Sha soon appears on each and every
one of them. Despite how horrendous it looks, it is in effect something
desirable, as many old injuries and past diseases are revealed and uprooted
once and for all. This can even untie “knots” deep in our hearts that have
tortured us for decades, enabling all illnesses, including those that we are
unaware of, those that remain undetected by doctors or medical appliances, and
those that may break out in the future, to be healed now.
Generally speaking, the pain and intensity of Paida should be within the
recipient or self-healer’s tolerance. There needs to be moderate pain of Paida,
otherwise it will not work. Slap a body region for 5-60 minutes each time. To
relieve severe symptoms, slap longer and more.
Slapping for up to five minutes is considered effective Paida. There will
be little effect if the Paida is too gentle, produces no pain or does not last long
enough, because the self-healing mechanism will not be fully activated. During
our 7-day PaidaLajin self-healing workshop, each day the participants slap for
approximately six hours, and stretch for about one hour, and by the end of the
workshop, they will have briefly slapped all major parts of the body. It takes up
to 15 days to complete a round of more thorough all-body Paida. The
workshop activities strongly stimulate the self-healing mechanism, and almost
all pains and diseases will improve greatly. Back home, it is impossible to slap
and stretch so hard and for so long. You can adjust the duration and intensity of
PaidaLajin according to your health condition and other factors. Normally,
practice PaidaLajin for 1–3 hours a day. If you are very sick or have plenty of
time, extend the duration and increase the intensity of PaidaLajin.
For health preservation, Paida the entire head and the universal regions
for 0.5–1 hour each day. To relieve and heal common diseases, Paida the
universal regions and illness-related areas for 1–3 hour(s). If you are seriously
ill, the entire body needs to be slapped multiple rounds before gradual recovery.
PaidaLajin is simple, but to grasp the essence of it, it’s best to attend a
workshop to most effectively learn the techniques, duration and intensity, and
power of the “Heart” in the self-healing process. Up to now, we have not found
a better way for people to learn and benefit from PaidaLajin than attending a
workshop.
For a sick person who cannot attend a workshop and slap that long, Paida
one to three regions for about one hour each day. The duration of Lajin is not
included. If you can attach the same importance to your health as you do to
games, sports, and dining, you will find that you have time for PaidaLajin.
The following recommendations on Paida duration and intensity are for
your reference. You can adjust them according to your health condition and
schedule.
1. Paida a body region thoroughly before moving on to the next region.
For example, an inner elbow, the top of the head, the front side of a knee, the
inner or outer side of a knee, is each a “body region.” Paida each region for
5–60 minutes.
2. Thorough Paida: Paida until the most Sha comes out of the slapped
area; and with continued Paida, no more Sha appears, it does not hurt much, or
the Sha is beginning to fade away, the skin is broken and blood or bodily fluid
is seeping out.
3. When slapping on a large region, focus on an area the size of a palm
and slap for 5–60 minutes. Then move the palm or Paida stick to the next area.
4. For body parts that can be easily slapped by oneself, it’s better to self
administer Paida; for body parts that are inconvenient to reach, try Paida on
each other. During Paida, alternate your hands and Paida stick(s). Use a Paida
stick when you feel tired or when Sha does not come out easily. In cold weather,
use a Paida stick to slap without removing clothes.
5. Do not stop half way during Paida. It’s best to slap a body part
thoroughly. When the Sha disappears, start a second round of Paida.
6. Some people self-heal after a round of thorough Paida all over the body.
However, many patients need multiple rounds of “carpet-bombing” Paida
before a full recovery occurs. Adjust the area and frequency of Paida to suit
personal needs.
7. Some people have slapped all over the body; however, the healing
effect is not as good as slapping universal regions or other specific regions, for
the pain and intensity of Paida are not enough. It is more effective to do Paida
and one to three Lajin session(s) per day. Some people do Lajin without the
standard Lajin bench or sandbags, or they put down the raised leg when they
feel sore, numb, painful, and swelling sensations. In these cases the efficacy is
discounted. Better effects can be achieved by doing Lajin for the same length
of time while stretched on a standard Lajin bench using 5–20kg sandbags, and
continuing to stretch after feeling these sensations.
8. Gentle Paida is also effective, as long as there is moderate pain.
However, this will take longer; you may have to slap one region for 30–120
minutes.

What is Sha?
Sha (痧; pinyin: shā): Sha is toxic waste in the blood and bodily fluids
that appear beneath the skin during Paida. It comes in shades of pink, crimson,
purple, purplish black, and black. When the amount of Sha reaches a peak, it
will gradually fade away with continued Paida. Lumps, red swelling, and white
powder on the skin are also different forms of Sha.
Sha is a word unique to the Chinese language. It literally means “toxic
sands and little stones.” Ancient Chinese called them “blood stones,” i.e.,
pathogenic substances similar to gall bladder stones and kidney stones.
Establishing its occurrence and coining the term “Sha,” as well as using it to
diagnose and treat diseases, demonstrates the wisdom of the ancient Chinese.
In scientific language, Sha refers to tiny toxic particles that are processed
and filtered from harmful substances in the blood and bodily fluids. This occurs
when the Yang energy boosted through PaidaLajin scans the entire body and
induces biochemical reactions with various substances in the body. Pushed by
Qi, these particles are excreted through various orifices. Sha can be excreted
through skin pores as tiny solid particles, or in the sweat, tears, nasal discharge,
urine, stool, and so on.
Appearance of Sha during Paida often makes people, even some TCM
doctors, suspicious and even scared. They assume that Sha is blood from
ruptured blood vessels, and that it is harmful to health. This is misinformation.
Our blood vessels behave somewhat like a rubber hose: when the hose is
free of blockages, slapping or pressing it causes the water in it to flow to low
pressure areas. Without toxins stagnating the flow in blood vessels, during
Paida, clean blood will flow from the slapped area to other areas. This explains
why there is little or no Sha in healthy people or healthy parts of the body.
Sha is toxic waste filtered out of the blood and bodily fluids. Otherwise, it
continues to exist in the body, causing stagnation, forming harmful, pathogenic
substances, such as fat, phlegm, masses, tumors, and dampness.
Blood vessel walls are a tight, mesh-like structure. Toxic waste makes the
blood dense and highly viscous, substantially slowing down its flow. When
slapping on a stagnated area with toxins, Sha will be filtered out after a series
of biochemical reactions between the toxins and the Qi boosted through Paida.
Sha is highly viscous; some forms of Sha are almost solid, and do not slip away
easily when pressured. Paida exerts pressure on the blood vessels, forcing the
mesh openings to expand, and the Sha continues biochemical reactions with the
boosted Qi and becomes tiny particles that can come out easily. Some particles
go out through the skin pores like dust in the air; some are excreted in sweat,
tears, and nasal discharge; most are excreted in urine and stool. Repeated slaps
on the skin makes more Sha cling to the walls. Toxins are thus expelled in the
form of Sha without rupturing blood vessels.
Some people are not convinced, and they go to the hospital to try various
tests. The result is that their blood vessels are not broken. You can have a try:
Paida until Sha appears; continue slapping the same area long and hard enough,
and in about 1-2 hour(s), the Sha will disappear on the spot. Some people have
not only tried the entire Paida process, but they also take pictures of Sha
emerging, getting darker, getting darkest, fading in color, and finally
disappearing.
In very rare cases, Paida may cause capillaries under the skin to rupture.
If the palm used for Paida has sticky fluids or traces of blood on it, then the
skin and capillaries have indeed ruptured. This, however, is a great sign
indicating better healing effect. Normally, healthy skin does not get broken
during Paida. When capillaries rupture, the skin at that area needs to be broken
in order to be healed, i.e., “no destruction, no construction.” This is better
detoxification, because old injuries, cold-dampness, and deeply buried toxins
are surfaced and expelled. This is very much like the “bloodletting” therapy
used by major ethnic groups around the world. Where there is bleeding, Paida
is killing two birds with one stone; you get the benefits of both Paida and
bloodletting therapies.
I have encountered many bleeding cases during Paida sessions. A man
with severe heart problems had black Sha on his inner elbow during the first
Paida session. Blood seeped out from the Sha, and he immediately felt his
chest tightness relieved. His blood pressure dropped soon afterward; in another
man, after a few moments of Paida, the area along the Pericardium meridian on
his inner elbow turned purplish black. His chest tightness was relieved shortly
after continued Paida and the palm used for Paida was covered with blood. His
chronic heart disease was greatly improved afterward, and other symptoms
including headache, chest pain, and irregular heartbeat all disappeared. I
directed another person who liked to slap others to slap my shoulder with great
force so as to experience heavy Paida. At the end of the session, on his palm
where the Pericardium meridian runs, a large bloody blister had developed, and
in a short while, many symptoms of his heart disease significantly improved,
and much of the dark color on his face and lips also faded.
For eczema, psoriasis, and other skin diseases, and bites by toxic insects
and animals, better efficacy and faster detoxification occurs when the affected
areas are slapped until blood and sticky fluids are excreted. For patients with
hypertension and heart disease, if you slap until the skin breaks and blood seeps
out, it works faster at reducing blood pressure and relieving headache, chest
tightness, and irregular heartbeat. Many people with similar diseases have
experienced these effects of Paida.
When the skin is broken, and blood and fluids seep out, the best thing to
do at this point is nothing. You can continue to slap for a while to get rid of
more toxic blood and fluids. Soon it will stop bleeding, scabs will form, and
new, healthy skin will grow.
Moreover, when using the hands for Paida, the hands are being slapped as
well. It is an extra gift when Sha, cracks, water, or blood blisters appear on the
hands. They will subside and heal without any particular treatment.
Many people are scared at the rough skin when it is broken once or
several times during Paida sessions. This is a healing reaction. Continue
PaidaLajin and eventually the skin will become smoother and more delicate
than before. Some people even experience local or systemic skin peeling. Of
course it is a good sign—a free, natural skin resurfacing treatment. There have
been many testimonials of people having more delicate skin thanks to
persistent Paida.
Sha appears in various shades, colors, and patterns. In more severe cases,
Sha will appear in darker shades of red, purple, blue, or black, and may swell
up. It may look horrifying, but it is a recovery reaction, indicating that toxic
blood and fluids are being filtered out and detoxification is in process. It is
normal for some Sha to hurt when touched or rubbed. If the Sha swells up and
hurts a lot when touched, this shows that the meridians at that area are heavily
blocked.
Initial emergence of Sha shows that Yin toxins are being revealed. When
Paida is continued, the slapped area and the entire body will gradually warm
up. This is an effect of rising Yang energy. Sometimes, one can feel hot one
minute and cold the next. This is when the Yin and Yang energies are wrestling
in the body. Cold hands and feet during and after Paida show that cold is being
expelled from the body.
Sha is a very vivid manifestation of Yin-Yang interactions. Like the
bellows that Lao Tse described in Tao Te Ching, when Yang rises, Yin subsides,
diseases are healed, and Yin-Yang energies are balanced. In other words,
diseases will improve as Sha and red swelling fade away. The effect is the same
as that in Gua Sha (skin scraping) and Ba Guan (cupping) therapies.
No.
Sha, red swelling, and other reactions during and after Paida are
indicative of meridian blockages being cleared. They are expected, desirable
effects of rhythmic, voluntary Paida. They are a part of the detoxification and
self-healing process. Positive energy is injected into the body from the loving
action.
It can hurt much when Sha is coming out. After that, it will hurt less and
less until there is no pain at all. Normally, blood vessels are not broken. Some
people fear that it could be subcutaneous hemorrhage when much Sha appears.
But medical tests show no broken vessels. However, in very rare circumstances,
the skin does get broken and toxic blood and fluid will come out. Normally, the
condition will improve faster and the broken skin will soon heal naturally. For
instance, patients with severe heart disease can experience it when the inner
elbows are slapped; for patients with psoriasis or other severe skin diseases, it
is better to slap on the affected areas until it bleeds. No destruction, no
construction.
By contrast, bruises and/or injuries from a fight or an accident are caused
by too much sudden force crushing blood vessels. It has nothing to do with
meridian blockages. There is a lot of negative energy involved. It will hurt a lot
and there could be scars afterward. Very often, the experience will leave
emotional trauma long after such an incident has happened.
What should be done when Sha appears during Paida?
The best thing is to continue Paida until Sha fades away. This is called
“thorough Paida.”
Sha that appears during Paida is a good reaction that indicates where the
health problems are located. It shows that toxins hidden in the body are
surfacing and treatment is in progress. Paida should not be stopped right after
Sha appears; otherwise, the efficacy will be greatly reduced. The color of Sha
will deepen when Paida is continued. With more Paida, the color of Sha will
get lighter and fade away faster, and normal skin color will be restored. You
can try it yourself by comparing the Sha on your arms or knees, where Paida is
continued on one side and stopped on the other side. The Sha on the side
receiving continuous Paida will subside faster. The conclusion is, prolonged
Paida delivers better efficacy and removes Sha faster.
Paida gathers more Qi and improves blood circulation in the slapped
areas, contributing to better detoxification. If Paida stops once Sha appears, the
color will still fade away; it just takes a longer time. Sometimes, it can take
days, weeks, or even months. Sha subsides faster in young and healthy people,
compared with the elderly and the seriously ill.
Some people use moxibustion, acupuncture, bloodletting, Ba Guan
(cupping), or other methods to make Sha disappear faster. However, we
recommend continued PaidaLajin, as it is the simplest, most convenient, and
effective method.
After bathing in a hot spring, there will be less pain of Paida, and Sha will
subside faster.
Will Sha re-enter circulation and lead to stroke and heart attack?
No.
Many people are puzzled by the disappearance of Sha after Paida. Some
doctors who have never practiced Paida themselves use their imagination to
explain it, and intimidate patients to stop Paida, saying that the Sha will
re-enter blood circulation and could lead to stroke or heart attack. This is a
misunderstanding.
Detoxification through PaidaLajin is not just physical cleaning. First, Qi
is gathered at the stimulated area; it will then decompose toxic waste in the
blood and fluids into tiny particles of Sha that can be easily excreted. This
means that the physical and chemical properties of the toxic waste have been
changed. In other words, Sha is toxic waste filtered out of unhealthy blood, it
will only be excreted through various channels, and will not re-enter healthy
blood. This is the magic of our self-healing mechanism.
Skin is the largest detoxifying channel for Sha because of the countless
pores on it. Each pore is constantly “breathing,” just like the nostrils. The Yang
energy activated by PaidaLajin decomposes Sha into tiny particles invisible to
the naked eye. Because they are much smaller than the pores, they can go
through the pores and evaporate. Sweat, odors, lumps, rashes, and itchiness are
signs of detoxification through the skin. In addition, all the orifices, including
the mouth, nostrils, eyes, ears, urethra and anus, are detoxification channels.
Burping, vomiting, sweating, running nose, tears, earwax, farting, urine, and
stool are all conveyors of detoxification. These are also called “healing
reactions.” In short, all excretions are toxins and wastes removed from the
body.
Gradual fading and disappearance of Sha is not a process where the toxins
are absorbed into the body; instead, it is a process where toxic waste, or Sha, is
eliminated through the above-mentioned channels. Without the biochemical
reactions induced by PaidaLajin, these toxins will not be filtered out in the
form of Sha; instead, they will continue to stagnate Qi and blood flow and form
pathogenic substances. PaidaLajin boosts Qi to decompose and detoxify these
toxins. During PaidaLajin, a person’s sweat, urine, and stool will smell
stronger than usual. And it is normal to feel tired and experience various
healing reactions, because Sha formation and removal consume energy.
According to Western medicine, Sha produced during Paida is “poisoned
blood” removed from blood vessels; it lies in the interstitial spaces under the
skin. The interstitial blood is identified as an alien substance by phagocytes and
lymphocytes, and is thus decomposed and excreted through breathing, sweating,
urination, and other channels. When phagocytes and lymphocytes are
functioning normally, Sha is decomposed quickly and fades away faster,
otherwise it will take more time. Regular Paida enhances the immune functions
of these cells, helping the body to efficiently remove pathological substances.
Modern medical science has found that the process of removing harmful
alien substances can enhance the functions of the immune system, stimulate
generation of many stem cells in vivo and removal of necrotic and dead cells,
and improve the body’s capacity to cope with stress and repair damaged tissues.
Paida not only instantly improves circulation and clears meridian blockages,
the process of Sha elimination is in effect a DIY serum antigen therapy, which
makes the use of injections unnecessary. It can improve the body’s ability to
remove alien substances and enhance immunity. This is an additional benefit of
Paida, also known as an “after-effect” of Paida.
Chinese medicine has a clear explanation: Sha is Yin energy accumulated
in the body. Paida brings Sha to the surface, and continued Paida warms up the
slapped area and then the entire body. It stimulates the Yang energy to rise. The
more pain is felt during Paida, the faster the body warms up. Diseases are
cured when Yin energy is neutralized by the rising Yang energy.
Whether the Qi Movement Theory and the Yin-Yang Interaction Theory in
Chinese medicine, or cell, immunity, and other theories in Western medicine,
they are but limited knowledge that humans use in their attempts to decipher
the unfathomable self-healing mechanism embedded in us. To truly uncover the
secret of self-healing, you need to engage in actual practice and feel it in your
heart.
Section III Lajin
What is Lajin?
Lajin (拉筋; pinyin: lā jīn): La, to stretch; Jin, tendons and ligaments. To
put it simply, Lajin is to do a simple and effective exercise to stretch the
tendons and ligaments that connect the skeleton and organs in the body. It helps
to make the tendons flexible, remove meridian blockages, and enable smooth
Qi and blood flow. Persistent practice heals various contraction-induced
diseases, including the most obvious pains that affect the neck, shoulders, waist,
and legs.
While Lajin, compared with medication and acupuncture, is not widely
practiced as a major therapy, various stretching exercises have long been
existent in yoga, sports, Taoism, Kungfu, Qi Gong, and Chinese medicine.
A baby has strong Yang energy and a very soft body. As a person ages, the
body gets stiffer, the tendons get shorter and the Yang energy gradually declines.
In old age, a person becomes hunchbacked and thus shorter. When a person is
dead, the Yang energy is used up and the body is completely stiff. The same is
true with animals and plants. Green branches and leaves are tender, flexible,
and exuberant; withered ones are hard, fragile, and lifeless. Flexibility indicates
abundant Yang energy; stiffness signals weak Yang energy.
The importance of having flexible Jin is reflected in these Chinese adages:
“Where the bones are in place and Jin is flexible, Qi and blood will flow
smoothly.” “Extending Jin by one inch will prolong life by 10 years.” “A
person thrives when Jin is flexible and perishes when Jin contracts.” In order to
live a long and healthy life, we should make the tendons softer, longer, and
more flexible.
Jin-Suo (tendon stiffness and contraction) may seem to only affect bodily
movements; in actual fact, it negatively impacts all internal organs. Our bones,
limbs, and internal organs are linked together by tendons, ligaments, and
meridians. And the 12 main tendons run alongside the 12 main meridians.
Jin-Suo causes meridian blockages and health problems. And it does not occur
in certain parts of the body, but in the entire body and throughout a person’s life.
Jin-Suo is related to all illnesses; Lajin helps to heal pains and diseases.
The concept of Jin-Suo is yet to be recognized in Western medicine. Many
people with diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases are still being treated
through control of indicators like blood glucose or blood pressure levels; the
root causes remain undetected or are overlooked even after years of treatment.
Such causes can be easily revealed through Lajin; and when combined with
Paida, they can be diagnosed more accurately. Many pains are caused by
Jin-Suo, which can be instantly relieved by doing Lajin. As the therapy is
generally not known, nor adopted by medical professionals, medication and
surgery are used instead to suppress the symptoms.
It is commonly believed that when a person complains of pain, stretching
needs to be stopped so as not to injure the bones and tendons. However, it is
precisely because of tightened tendons that stretching is needed to avoid further
tightening. Lajin removes blockages and alleviates the pain, for “no pains, no
blockages.”
It should be noted that Lajin duration and intensity is to be gradually
increased. It will have a better effect when Lajin is combined with Paida,
proper diet, and/or other natural therapies. Daily Lajin is one of the best fitness
exercises.
Flexible Jin contributes to good health. Once Jin becomes stiff and
shrinks, the body will manifest one or several of the following symptoms:
Neck pain and stiffness
Lumbar pain and stiffness
Inability to bend down
Back pain and stiffness
Leg pain and paralysis
Inability to squat
Uneven legs or short steps
Radiating pain in the heels
Stressed tendons at the hip joints
Inability to raise the thighs forward or sideways
Difficulty in turning around
Contraction of muscles
Inability to extend or bend the elbows
Pain, numbness, swelling sensation, or inflexibility in the arms, legs,
elbows and knees
Signs of Jin-Suo: Legs curling, lowered leg cannot touch the ground, arms
cannot rest on the Lajin bench
Lajin is both precise diagnosis and self-healing in action.
6. Neck Lajin
Lie flat on a bed, chairs or a Lajin bench, move your head, neck, and
upper part of the shoulders off the edge, let them hang down naturally, and
stretch your arms as far backward as possible (see Figure 6). Stay in this
posture for 5–8 minutes.
Reminder:
For people with dizziness, hypertension, cardiovascular and
cerebrovascular diseases, it is advisable to do this exercise gradually.
No. Lajin is a natural, rational, self-help exercise. You can adjust the
duration and intensity so as not to injure yourself from overstretching; you
can never damage the tendons, ligaments, or muscles by practicing Lajin.
Beginners, those with critical diseases, and the elderly need not stretch too
much in the beginning, but should gradually increase the duration and intensity.
Pain, numbness, soreness, swelling sensations, and other reactions
indicate that Qi and blood cannot flow smoothly in the body, so it requires
Lajin practice to facilitate their smooth flow.
Some people say their tendons have been stiff since childhood. In fact,
stiff tendons sound an alarm against physical disorders, indicating that
something is wrong with the liver, as your liver governs the tendons. These
people should practice Lajin more so than others.
If you do not feel any pain, numbness, or swelling sensations however
much time or whatever Lajin exercise you practice, it suggests that your bones
are in place and your tendons are flexible, thus Qi and blood can flow naturally.
In that case, you do not need to practice Lajin any longer.
1. When practicing Lajin outdoors, avoid wind and chills; when practicing
it indoors, avoid direct wind from electric fans or air conditioners. Sweating
during Lajin is beneficial, and it is NOT necessary to cool down deliberately.
The waist and knees should never be exposed because the body is relaxed and
pores are opened up during Lajin. It is best to wear long-sleeved shirts and
trousers to stay warm, particularly when the air-conditioner is on; otherwise,
the cold may enter through the open pores, affect the joints, and induce more
diseases.
2. There is no fixed standard as to how long or how intense a Lajin session
should be, which vary according to a person’s age and health condition. The
overall principle is that for better and faster effects, stretch with more weights
and for a longer time. For people who dance or practice yoga, or have a very
flexible body, each leg may be stretched for 30–50 minutes or more.
3. If, in a reclining posture, your sole cannot touch the ground, you can
slightly move your lowered leg outward to ease the pain. But once it can touch
the ground, move it inward until both legs are close together to avoid splayed
feet.
4. People with hypertension, heart disease, the frail, the elderly, and the
critically ill should take it more slowly, as the pain induced in Lajin will
increase the pulse and blood pressure. Even though these are normal reactions
and signs of improvement, it is advisable to gradually increase duration and
intensity. A small pillow may be used to prop up the head in order to avoid
blood rushing to the brain.
5. If headache, dizziness, pale face, cold sweat, chest tightness, numb and
cold limbs, rapid and irregular heartbeat, or other severe healing reactions
appear during Lajin, stop for a while and slap heavily on the inner elbows and
Neiguan acupoint near the wrists (see Chapter IV, Section I Acute
Symptoms). The more pain a person feels during this process, the more
necessary it is to continue Paida.
6. Women can practice Lajin at any point of the menstrual cycle. Those
suffering from menstrual pain will feel better if Lajin is practiced during their
period.
7. Stay attentive when doing Lajin. When pain is felt at different parts of
the body during Lajin, do some Paida as well. It will have a greater healing
effect. In particular, for those having difficulty in Lajin, slapping the joints,
hands, and feet can help relieve the pain felt during Lajin.
Section IV General Principles of PaidaLajin
As we often say, “Rome is not built in a day.” Illnesses are built up over
time; likewise, it takes time to heal them. A person can get sick at any time of a
day and any day of a year; PaidaLajin can be practiced at any moment of a day
and in any season of a year. Anytime, anywhere.
Millions of people have shown that you can have good effects if you
practice PaidaLajin anytime, anywhere, particularly patients with diabetes,
hypertension, heart disease, cancer, or other critical illnesses. It is very good to
pat a baby even less than one year old, as long as you do it gently and with
loving care.
But generally speaking, it is best to practice PaidaLajin in the morning
when the Yang energy is rising. If you have a rich knowledge of Chinese
medicine and do not mind the trouble, you can practice PaidaLajin according
to the midnight-midday ebb flow of Qi in the meridian system. People have
different rhythms in life and work, and they cannot all practice PaidaLajin at a
certain time. As a saying goes, “Why choose the best time? Now is the time.”
Now is the time for PaidaLajin.
And don’t forget that your mindset is very important. With genuine
gratitude and repentance in the Heart, the healing effect will be even greater,
for illness originates in the Heart, and the cure also comes from the Heart.
Normally, gravely ill patients and elderly people suffer Qi and blood
deficiency. Aging and diseases are caused by deficient Yang energy and excess
of pathogenic substances in the body. The process of healing diseases is a
process of removing the excess and replenishing the deficiency.
Many people assume that “taking nutritious foods and supplements” is the
way to replenish the deficiency. They do not know that the best way to
replenish the deficiency is to clear our meridians, because “smooth flowing
meridians are the best nourishment.” Even experienced doctors of Chinese
medicine are not able to grasp this point. In actual fact, differentiating between
excess and deficiency, exterior and interior, excessive cold and heat, and
“removing the excess and replenishing the deficiency” are means to the
ultimate goal of balancing Yin and Yang energies. Thousands of examples of
clinical evidence show that, of all the people practicing PaidaLajin, whether at
home or in a workshop, the majority of those with the best self-healing effect
are elderly people, gravely ill patients, and those with deficient Qi and blood.
These include patients with diabetes, heart disease, kidney failure, terminal
cancer, and/or other chronic diseases. Some of them are in their 80s or 90s.
Many of the beneficiaries of PaidaLajin are elderly patients who have more
severe meridian blockages than others, and they are so deficient in Qi and
blood that the body cannot absorb much nutrition. For these people in need of
nutrition, it cannot be replenished right away. They need to clear the meridian
blockages first, and then have nutritious food. And the best way to clear the
meridians is to practice PaidaLajin. In other words, when the supply channels
in the body are blocked, the nutrition and drugs cannot reach their destination.
When the road is narrow or when there is a traffic accident, putting more
vehicles on the road does not help. The pressing task is to clear the road.
From a scientific perspective, PaidaLajin can induce generation of
“endogenous medicine” in the body. Those with deficient Qi and blood could
replenish the deficiency with the “endogenous medicine” and waste-converted
nutrients produced through PaidaLajin. It has been proven in front-line
scientific research that bones, joints, skin, muscles, and tendons are not only
kinematic systems; they are the largest human endocrine system. When
practicing PaidaLajin, meridians, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, nervous,
and other systems will be gradually cleared; blood, organs, and body cells will
be re-optimized. This not only enhances the immune system; biochemical
substances that a person needs, i.e., “endogenous medicines” such as stem cells,
insulin, adrenaline, enkephalin, and other hormones will also be automatically
produced. This is how diseases are self-healed. And it is a miraculous process
of turning waste into treasure.
This is clearly explained in Chinese medicine. PaidaLajin replenishes
Yang energy, which enhances the circulation. When aided with food therapy
(e.g., ginger and jujube tea), the body will have sufficient Yang energy, and
diseases are kept at bay. Smooth flowing meridians can enhance Yang energy,
which acts as an anti-virus mechanism in the body that automatically removes
viruses, tumors, and other diseases. When there is smooth flowing Qi in
meridians, we can then replenish weak energy. Otherwise, nourishment
entering the body may spur the growth of diseases instead of replenishing the
body, because lumps, excess fat, and cancer cells, need nutrition to grow.
Whether you are elderly, gravely ill, or have deficient Qi and blood,
PaidaLajin can be practiced; however, it should be noted that the intensity
should be increased gradually from gentle to heavy; and the duration be
lengthened gradually according to your health condition and tolerance.
While practicing PaidaLajin and gradually clearing the meridians, drink
some ginger and jujube tea. Then move on to rice, bread, congee, noodles, and
other staple foods. These are simple and natural foods that can be easily
digested and absorbed. We have eaten these foods for millennia, and they have
proven to be the best choices for replenishing Qi and blood. Avoid taking drugs,
and processed or canned foods. If you are a very weak patient and cannot keep
up the practice of PaidaLajin, take a break and then continue.
Never force someone to practice PaidaLajin as either a giver or receiver.
This can be counterproductive. PaidaLajin is a good self-healing method, but
only when practiced voluntarily.
Some people are eager to share PaidaLajin with others; however, they
may face rejections. There are many reasons, and the main reason is that they
themselves have not practiced PaidaLajin enough. They lack profound
experience and are unable to deal with various questions and reactions.
We advise that PaidaLajin promoters observe the following principles:
1. Self-healing with PaidaLajin follows the basic principle of voluntary
practice. Share PaidaLajin with whoever is interested in and ready for it. Do
not force anyone, including family members, relatives, and friends, to practice
it. Do not force others to stop medication or other medical services.
2. Before sharing it with others, you must have practiced PaidaLajin and
experienced self-help and mutual Paida. It’s best that you have read the manual
PaidaLajin Self-Healing carefully, read most of the articles on our websites,
and attended a 7-day workshop. Otherwise, you cannot understand the
physiological and psychological changes in the recipient of Paida, adjust the
intensity of PaidaLajin to suit personal needs, deal with healing reactions, and
answer challenging questions.
3. Sometimes, people will slap others heavily in order to get more Sha out
quickly, while disregarding the recipients’ pain tolerance. This is the mistake
most often made by PaidaLajin promoters. When slapping others, move
gradually from gentle to heavy Paida, especially when slapping a beginner.
Otherwise the pain of Paida can make many people afraid and cause them to
reject the self-healing method altogether.
4. Clearly explain the concept and phenomena of healing reactions, and
how to deal with them; and explain that they are inevitable during the
diagnostic, detoxifying, and self-healing process, and are indicative of good
effect. Otherwise, many people will be frightened by the healing reactions and
see the reward as punishment. They may even go to doctors who do not
understand the PaidaLajin self-healing method, which could lead to more
misunderstanding.
5. Do not take the appearance of Sha as the only criterion of effective
Paida and thus satisfy your sense of accomplishment. This is because Sha is
only one of the numerous healing reactions, and the location, color, and amount
of Sha do not rely on the slapper’s will.
6. Like Sha, the pain felt during and after PaidaLajin is an indicator for
diagnosing and self-healing diseases. No pains, no blockages. As long as you
feel pain practicing PaidaLajin, even without the emergence of Sha, you should
continue the practice to unblock the remaining meridian blockages.
7. Do not rigidly assume that the more pain a person feels when practicing
PaidaLajin, the more effective the self-healing effect will be. Everyone’s
understanding and tolerance of pain differs; and the intensity of Paida should
be within the recipient’s tolerance. As long as the recipient feels it is too much
pain, reduce the intensity of PaidaLajin.
8. When someone asks you a question that you cannot provide a correct
answer to, do not attempt to answer it; instead, advise them to read the manual
PaidaLajin Self-Healing, and visit our websites where PaidaLajin philosophy,
Q&As, videos, and testimonials are available.
9. It’s possible to know PaidaLajin philosophy, but not follow the natural
law in diet and other living habits, and not practice PaidaLajin actively,
resulting in deteriorating health. Or you may pride yourself after learning
PaidaLajin, but continue to worry about personal gains and losses, and
constantly experience healing reactions in your own Heart. We advise nursing
your own Heart before sharing PaidaLajin with others. Please understand that
self-healing is holistic healing of the body, mind, and soul, and as a promoter,
you should heal yourself first.
Chapter IV Recommended PaidaLajin Regimes
Duration
Paida: Slap on one body part or acupoint for several minutes up to 30
minutes or more, depending on the severity of the problem (see pictures).
Lajin: Stretch one leg for several minutes up to 30 minutes or more,
depending on the severity of the problem (see pictures).
Specific emergencies
Reminders
1. Paida and Lajin are self-healing methods. You can use PaidaLajin on
yourself or others. When helping others, please ask for their permission
BEFORE you do it.
2. Generally speaking, for PaidaLajin, go gradually from soft to heavy. In
a very urgent case, use heavy slaps.
3. Hot, cold, sore, numb, itchy, painful, tingling, or swelling sensations
can be felt during and after PaidaLajin. Patches of red, purple, blue and/or
black can appear at the slapped areas. Rashes, burping, flatulence, and dark and
stinky urine and feces may result. These are good reactions of the healing
process, and there is no need to worry.
4. Stay warm, and avoid cold and wind during and after PaidaLajin.
5. Both laypersons and doctors have personally experienced instant,
miraculous effects of Paida in relieving acute symptoms. In case of an
emergency such as those listed above, you do not have to panic or wait for help;
all you need is a pair of hands and a caring heart dedicated to saving yourself or
others.
6. According to relevant legal provisions in many countries, in an
emergency, first aid can be provided without the need for a doctor’s license.
7. This is for your reference only. Decide whether to apply these
self-healing methods at your own discretion, and bear all the consequences
arising from it.
Section II Common Illnesses
Common joint pains include neck pain, shoulder pain, wrist pain, hand
pain, lower back pain, leg pain, and ankle pain.
Our recommendation:
Slap directly on the affected area(s) for 15–60 minutes. To relieve more
severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds. Always start with soft
Paida and gradually slap harder. Normally, the greater the pain of Paida, the
better the effect of healing will be. It hurts the most when the Sha is surfacing,
after which the pain will become less intense. Continue Paida after Sha appears,
and Sha will fade away faster.
For neck pain, slap on the affected area, the entire neck and the shoulders,
and stretch on a Lajin bench. Another option is to practice the Wall Hitting
exercise (see the video tutorial on the English website). Neck pain and
headache felt during and after Wall Hitting are healing reactions indicating
good healing effect.
For frozen shoulder, slap the front, back, left, right, upper and lower parts
of the shoulders, including the armpits. Stretch on a Lajin bench, and do Lajin
in standing posture. Do Paida and Lajin alternately.
For lower back and leg pains, stretch on a Lajin bench, and then slap on
the affected areas, the back of the knees, and all around the knees. For severe
pain, Paida all around the legs. Do Paida and Lajin alternately.
For wrist and ankle pains, slap on the upper and lower parts of the
affected areas and all around them;
In addition to PaidaLajin, it’s best to drink ginger and jujube tea to
enhance the circulation of Qi and blood.
Our recommendation:
Slap on major regions (acupoints) along relevant meridians by referring to
a meridians chart. Because most people are unfamiliar with meridians and
acupoints, it is more accurate and convenient to stimulate body parts, for each
of them covers multiple meridians and acupoints. For more details, please refer
to Chapter IV, Section I Acute Symptoms.
For headaches, slap on the pain spots on the head and then the entire head,
neck, shoulders, inner elbows and the back of hands, and stretch on a Lajin
bench.
For toothache, slap on the cheeks and mouth, Hegu acupoint, Zusanli
acupoint, and the entire back of each hand, and stretch on a Lajin bench.
For belly pain and stomach ache, first slap on the Zusanli acupoint,
Neiguan acupoint, and the abdomen, and then do Lajin in a squatting posture,
and stretch on a Lajin bench.
For liver and gall bladder pains, stretch on a Lajin bench, and slap along
the inner and outer sides of each leg, Neiguan acupoint, and inner elbows.
For period pain, first stretch on a Lajin bench, then slap on the belly, the
inner side of each thigh, and the groin areas.
Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
In addition to PaidaLajin, it’s best to practice Wall Hitting, and drink
ginger and jujube tea to enhance the circulation of Qi and blood.
Our recommendation:
1. Slap on the inner elbows, the entire inner side of each arm, top and
back of the head, Dazhui acupoint, neck, shoulders, and the back of the hands.
In more severe cases, slap along the entire spine and the Urinary Bladder
meridian on each side of the spine. You can use a hair dryer to warm up the
regions before Paida, particularly the neck and Dazhui acupoint. Slap each
region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and
for more rounds.
2. Drink ginger and jujube tea, and do warm-water foot baths; stretch on a
Lajin bench.
3. Do the Wall Hitting exercise or meditative jogging for over half an
hour.
Our recommendation:
Problems with the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, and other ENT
diseases are superficial symptoms of root causes in their respective internal
organ. According to Chinese medicine, eye problems relate to the liver; ear and
tooth problems relate to the kidneys; nose problems relate to the lungs; lip,
cheek, and other muscle problems relate to the spleen; and tongue problems
relate to the heart.
For ENT problems, first do Lajin, and Paida the universal regions (elbows,
knees, hands and feet) and all along the four limbs to clear blockages along
meridians corresponding to their internal organs. Then slap on the entire head
and face whichever facial organ is sick, because the meridians on the head and
face are closely related and they form a “network.” Give the malfunctioning
organ more slaps: for hearing problems, Paida the ears; for inflammation of the
mouth, slap directly on the mouth; for eye problems, Paida the eyes. Note that
it is NOT advisable for people suffering from or with potential risk of retinal
detachment. In actual practice, cover each eye with an entire palm and slap.
Hence it is not the eyes but the eye sockets that are being slapped; for rhinitis,
slap more on the forehead, cheeks, and inner elbows; for toothache, slap more
on the mouth, cheeks, the back of hands, inner elbows, and Zusanli acupoint,
particularly the Hegu acupoint on the back of hands; drink ginger and jujube
tea and stretch on a Lajin bench.
The five sense organs on the head and face are related to the five internal
organs (liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys). Slapping along meridians
corresponding to these organs is very effective in healing diseases with the five
sense organs. For instance, Paida on the Kidney meridian improves tinnitus
and deafness; Paida on the Liver meridian and doing Lajin helps relieve eye
problems because the Liver governs the tendons and opens into the eyes; and
Paida on the Spleen meridian can heal problems with the mouth. You can find
the corresponding meridians by referring to a meridians chart. Nonetheless, the
simplest way is to slap the “universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet),”
because they cover all meridians corresponding to the five internal organs. It is
easy to slap on the elbows, hands and knees on your own. It may be more
difficult to slap your own feet, so you may use a Paida tool or find a partner to
slap with.
Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
You can also practice neck Lajin: lie on your back, move your head off the
edge of a Lajin bench or a bed, and let it hang down naturally. Do it for 5–60
minutes each session. More Qi and blood will flow to your head and face, thus
healing related diseases, particularly evident for improving various eye
diseases.
V Skin diseases
Skin diseases are problems with internal organs that are manifested on the
skin. Skin pain, sores, ulcers, allergy, itchiness, and dryness are the results of
toxins excreted from internal organs. A worse condition would be an
accumulation of the toxins remaining hidden in the body. Heart is the organ
that affects skin diseases, and chronic diseases the most. In other words, all
chronic and critical illnesses are manifestations of problems with the Heart.
Huang Di Nei Jing clearly states, “All pains, sores, and itchiness originate from
the Heart.”
Our recommendation:
For common itchiness such as hives, eczema, psoriasis, mosquito and
other insect bites, and other nameless itchy symptoms, slap on the affected
area(s), the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet), and the inner side
of each thigh; drink ginger and jujube tea, and stretch on a Lajin bench. For
areas that are very itchy, slap heavily until there are colorful patches of Sha,
reddish swelling, the skin breaks and toxic blood and fluids seep out. Continue
slapping on the same area for a while to allow more toxic blood and fluids to
come out.
For other skin diseases such as dermatitis, neurodermatitis, allergic
contact dermatitis (ACD), hard and rough skin caused by drugs and chronic
diseases, and various hard-to-diagnose skin diseases, treat them as problems
with internal organs, particularly the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys.
Slap on the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet) and the affected
areas, and then slap all along the four limbs and the entire body. Having Sha
and red swelling skin are positive and natural reactions. If the skin breaks and
blood and pus come out, continue slapping for a while to get rid of more toxic
blood and fluids. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe
symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.
Whatever the skin disease is, do more stretching on a Lajin bench,
gradually extending it to 60 minutes per leg each session. And it’s best to add a
5–10kg sandbag on each leg. Drink ginger and jujube tea daily.
VI Gynecological disorders
Although the disease names may vary, gynecological disorders are mostly
cold-induced, and are manifestations of blockages in meridians corresponding
to major internal organs, particularly the heart, liver, spleen, and kidneys.
Women with gynecological disorders mostly suffer from varying degrees of
depression, including postnatal depression. The severity of depression
corresponds to the severity of disorders. The fundamental cause of depression
is problems with the Heart, including negative feelings such as fear, grief, anger,
hatred, or jealousy.
Common disease names include annexitis, infertility, adenomyosis,
ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, breast hyperplasia, prolapsed uterus, irregular
menstruation, and menstrual pain, which are often accompanied by insomnia,
depression, constipation, hair loss, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism,
among other problems. Often, a woman can have several diseases
simultaneously, for example, hyperthyroidism, breast tumor, and uterine
fibroids. Depression accompanies almost all gynecological disorders, though to
varying degrees of severity.
Our recommendation:
Whichever of the above-mentioned diseases a woman has, first of all,
stretch on a Lajin bench. Then slap on the universal regions (elbows, knees,
hands, and feet), all four limbs, the Baliao area (the upper middle part of the
buttocks, also called sacrum), the entire head, the breasts, the armpits, the belly,
the buttocks, and the groin areas. It’s best to slap all over the body. Focus most
on the universal regions, the breasts, the belly, the buttocks, the Baliao area,
and inner side of each thigh.
Paida on the breasts is beneficial in many ways. This is because nine
major meridians and all systems of the body are closely related to the breasts. It
diagnoses and self-heals mammary gland diseases and in fact all gynecological
disorders, including problems with the womb and the ovaries, as well as
immune and digestive disorders, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular diseases.
Slap each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
To get rid of vaginal itchiness, slap on the entire vagina and surrounding
areas.
As gynecological disorders are mostly cold induced, drink ginger and
jujube tea and do warm-water footbaths daily.
Our recommendation:
Whatever the disease name is, for a child less than one year old, pat along
the entire spine for over half an hour. To relieve more severe symptoms, also
pat the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), Zusanli acupoint,
and all four limbs. For a child over one year old, also do stretching on a Lajin
bench. Parents who know chiropractic massage can use it alternately with
Paida.
Some moms use massage on their kids. The regions massaged can be
patted as well. Compared with massage, Paida provides greater stimulation to
the internal organs. Paida and massage can be used alternately.
Normally, the effect of Paida on a child is better than that on an adult,
because the cause of a child’s illness is simpler, and normally there is more
adequate Yang energy in a child; adults can suffer more psychological problems.
Unlike an adult, a child will not judge PaidaLajin with their “knowledge.” He
or she will fully absorb the energy from the slapper and stimulated within.
Pat softly most of the time. The intensity of Paida is not the key to healing
pediatric diseases. What matters more is the “Heart”—love, focus, and
confidence. Some moms do not see improvement after patting her child. This is
primarily because she is anxious and irritated, does not pat long enough, and
does not have full confidence in Paida.
Pat each region for 15–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
In addition to Paida and massage, you can also use a hair dryer to blow
warm air at a child’s illness-related regions until the skin gets red and hot. It
helps to make Qi and blood flow more smoothly and brings doubled effect. You
can regularly warm up a child’s entire body, particularly the back this way. It is
very good for their health. A child may be frightened the first time you blow
warm air at him or her. Stay calm and guide him or her to love the “toy.” You
may use the hair dryer to blow at yourself and make faces. Gradually, your
child will get used to it. If you feel it is too noisy or have other concerns, you
can use a warm water bag instead.
Yongquan acupoint
All chronic diseases are complex diseases. That is to say, a chronic disease
is an aggregated manifestation of several or dozens of underlying health
problems. For instance, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, endocrine
disorders, neurological disorders, problems with the liver, spleen, stomach,
kidneys, large and small intestines. The disease names may vary, but they are
basically labels for particular symptoms. As long as new indicators are detected
with medical instruments, more and more new disease names will be created.
Our recommendation:
Since they are complex diseases, this indicates problems with all internal
organs and blockages of all 14 major meridians, though to varying degrees of
severity. Whatever the disease name is, stretch on a Lajin bench, and slap the
universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), the entire head, all four
limbs, and then slap all joints and regions of the body, such as the chest, back,
belly, groin areas, armpits, and buttocks.
During the process of PaidaLajin, it is best to fast for 3–4 days. People
with weak Qi and blood can also try fasting. Drink some ginger and jujube tea
to replenish Qi and blood in the meantime.
Some patients are unable to do PaidaLajin on their own. Family members,
relatives, and friends can help them. Start with slapping on the inner elbows
and the back of the hands, then the knees and feet, followed by the head, the
belly, and the entire four limbs.
The duration of Paida differs from person to person. Normally, slap each
region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and
for more rounds. Slap one or several region(s) in a Paida session and slap all
over the body in several sessions.
For a bed-ridden patient who cannot get on a Lajin bench, help lift up one
leg to stretch. The stretching is effective as long as the patient feels sore, numb,
painful, and swelling sensations. The duration of stretching varies with each
individual’s physique and health condition. It can start with several seconds.
Gradually it can be extended to several minutes and longer.
When healing reactions occur, shorten the time and reduce the intensity of
PaidaLajin, take some rest, and drink ginger and jujube tea.
Our recommendation:
Because these are all chronic diseases, you can follow our
recommendation for self-healing chronic diseases, for example, Paida the
universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), the head, all four limbs, and
the entire body for multiple rounds. Of course, there needs to be more emphasis
on certain regions. For instance, for ankylosing spondylitis, stretch more and
slap along the entire spine, and practice the Wall Hitting exercise to stimulate
the back and the entire spine. For ONFH, focus more on stretching on a Lajin
bench and do waist swirling (swirl the waist in a horizontal circle to boost
kidney energy, like doing a hoola hoop. See the video tutorial on our English
website), Tie Qiang Gong (standing with nose close to wall, squat and stand up;
see video tutorial on the English website), and slap on the affected areas. Slap
each region for 5–60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer
and for more rounds.
It should be noted that prolonged medication, particularly intake of
hormonal drugs, is very harmful to a patient’s health. It can lead to
drug-induced diseases and other iatrogenic diseases. You should consult with
your doctor about reducing the dosage or stopping medication. Many patients
have experienced better healing effects by practicing PaidaLajin after reducing
the dosage or stopping medication.
In actual fact, many drugs do not cure diseases; instead they inhibit or
cover up the symptoms, such as sedatives, painkillers, sleeping pills, etc.
PaidaLajin does not involve the use of medicine. It directly activates the
body’s self-healing mechanism, enabling it to manifest and get rid of existing
and latent diseases. The self-healing mechanism does not “kill” the pathogenic
substances in the body, instead it creates conditions for them to change their
nature or exit the body. Healing reactions occur when the pathogenic
substances are struggling, transforming, or being excreted.
In addition, most of the patients with rare and critical diseases have
undergone various treatments for years, but to no avail. Many have lost hope.
They tend to be more vulnerable and more afraid of pain. They need more
patient guidance and encouragement. And the intensity of PaidaLajin should be
gradually increased.
Section III Specific Illnesses
Our recommendation:
For a pregnant woman, avoid slapping the belly. It is OK to slap other
parts of the body and stretch on a Lajin bench, just like how others do it.
Women who benefit the most from PaidaLajin are those who practice it every
day during pregnancy for health-keeping and/or self-healing diseases, without
the need for medication. The recommended PaidaLajin regimes for healing
various diseases are applicable to pregnant women as well.
For health maintenance, slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands
and feet), the head, and the four limbs. The intensity and frequency of Paida
can be adjusted according to individual tolerance and health condition. Slap
each region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
PaidaLajin is very helpful for natural delivery. Some pregnant women
who persisted in PaidaLajin completed natural delivery of their baby in half an
hour, without the need for a Cesarean section. This is because PaidaLajin
makes the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the hipbones and birth canal
more flexible. More importantly, the Liver, Spleen and Kidney meridians
linked to the womb and birth canal are cleared of blockages, thus facilitating
the delivery.
PaidaLajin is even more essential for a woman after childbirth. Many
self-healing testimonials have shown that by practicing PaidaLajin, pains, fever,
obesity, mastitis, insomnia, postpartum depression, uneven milk supply, and
other diseases can be self-healed.
Please refer to our recommendations for self-healing gynecological
disorders (Chapter IV, Section II Common Illnesses, VI Gynecological
disorders), and focus mainly on the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands,
and feet), the breasts, the belly, and the Baliao area (the upper middle part of
the buttocks, also called “sacrum”). After childbirth, Lajin should be practiced
more often. Paida and Lajin combined together are very helpful for a woman to
recover and improve her figure after childbirth, to facilitate normal milk supply,
and for infant care and upbringing. Women who persist in postnatal PaidaLajin
can expect to return to their normal weight and figure within a month.
II Heart disease
Every Chinese knows the saying that “illnesses originate from the Heart.”
However, not everyone knows its connotation. The Chinese character for
illness 病 (pinyin: bìng) has two components: 疒 (health problem) and 丙
(pinyin: bǐng), which corresponds to Heart fire. Ancient Chinese believed that
all diseases come from the Heart. Otherwise they are not 病 (illnesses), but 疾
(pinyin: jí) with two components 疒 (health problem) and 矢 (pinyin: shǐ),
which literally means “arrow,” in other words, external damaging forces.
When the heart is weak, stressed out, or contaminated, we will get sick or
act with ignorance. Since illnesses originate from the Heart—the first organ to
become sick. It refers to both the physical organ and the invisible Heart that
determines how we feel and lead our lives. Disease names may vary, however,
they are in essence different manifestations of problems with the Heart. In other
words, all diseases have a common root cause: chaos in the invisible Heart. On
the physical level, all illnesses are heart diseases.
How can one prove that the Heart is the source of all illnesses? Paida the
inner elbows, through which the Heart and Pericardium meridians go, and
almost everyone will have Sha and feel pain. It shows that almost everyone has
heart disease, though the severity of blockages varies.
Sudden heart attacks can occur when the heart is much blocked. A person
dies when the heart is completely blocked. Theoretically, we know the
significance of disease prevention. However, most people still wait until they
have heart or other illnesses (which are in essence Heart illnesses) and cannot
live a normal life to seek treatment. They do not want to practice PaidaLajin
now, because it hurts, and they do not want to attend a PaidaLajin workshop,
because they feel they do not have the time for it. However, when they have a
stroke or a heart attack, they are compelled to take the time to go to the
hospital.
Why does the Heart get sick easily? Because it is hurt most deeply and
frequently. Beginning in childhood, we are faced with pressures in study, love,
work, family, and other relationships. Negative energy and emotions arise and
are accumulated in the body, including fear, worry, stress, anger, hatred, sorrow,
and jealousy. All these negativities hurt the Heart directly, leading to a
contraction of the Heart just like a cold-induced contraction. Contraction of the
Heart in turn leads to contraction of tendons and ligaments all over the body.
That is how we get sick. In other words, stress and negative emotions lead to
contraction and obstruction of the Heart meridian, which in turn results in
blockages in other meridians and internal organs. Various symptoms thus occur.
And disease names are invented to label the symptoms according to certain
medical indicators.
The problem underlying all illnesses is heart disease. To self-heal acute
symptoms, chronic and critical illnesses, first of all, the Heart and Pericardium
meridians should be cleared of blockages. And we always recommend slapping
the inner elbows and Neiguan acupoint first, for they are very closely linked
with the heart. To relieve more severe symptoms, you can also slap on the chest
and the back, particularly the area in between the breasts and the corresponding
area on the back. In spite of the disease names, Paida the inner elbows and
normally there will be Sha. It also shows that the heart disease is more severe
than other critical illnesses.
Patients with heart disease tend to be more afraid of pain than others. The
more severe the heart disease is, the more afraid of pain the patients are. This is
because the “Heart” feels the pain and other discomforts from all illnesses in
the body. There is a saying, “The fingers are linked to the heart.” Indeed, when
the fingers are injured, it is the “Heart” that feels the pain.
There are two types of cardiac patients: those appearing to have excessive
Qi and those appearing to have weak Qi.
The former type are mostly hypertensive patients, male, overweight,
heavy sweaters afraid of heat, and love cold drinks and air-conditioning. They
appear to feel hot externally, but deep inside the heart it is freezing cold, and
the deficient kidney functions cannot keep the Yang energy inside the body,
thus the heat leaks out of the body as constant sweat. They may appear to be
alright; however, they face the (potential) dangers of stroke and sudden heart
attack, or the torture of dizziness, headache, diabetes, hypertension, impotence,
premature ejaculation, prostate disorders, waist and knee pains, and cancers.
The latter type not only appear to have weak Qi, they indeed have weak
Qi and blood internally. They are mostly hypotensive patients, many of them
female, overly thin; they sweat little, love warmth, and cannot tolerate cold.
Most of them suffer from such chronic diseases as insomnia, headache,
dizziness, infertility, depression, constipation, hypothyroidism,
hyperthyroidism, hair loss, back pain, waist pain, period pain, ovarian cysts,
breast cancer, uterine fibroids, menstrual disorders, low blood sugar, low blood
pressure, uterine prolapse, cold hands and feet, and so on.
Whether excessive or deficient Qi, hypertension or hypotension, what
they have in common is a problem with the invisible “Heart” behind the
detectable heart and other diseases. Heart disease can be felt as discomforts in
the heart and other parts of the body. However, problems with the “Heart” or
mind are invisible but can affect every cell in the body. Fear, worry, anger,
hatred, tension, jealousy, and other complex psychological entanglements,
worry about personal gains and losses—can they be detected with an
instrument? A person becomes ill when they become too busy, both physically
and psychologically, with family (especially children), career, country, or other
causes. All diseases, whatever the names may be, are problems of the invisible
Heart. Heart disease is one of the many manifestations; and all other diseases
are in reality different forms of Heart disease.
Many people feel palpitation, chest tightness, and other obvious
symptoms indicating severe problems with the heart. However, when they go
for a medical checkup, they are found with no heart disease. Sometimes, even
when a patient with a heart attack is taken to the emergency room of a hospital,
the checkup does not show a heart disease. Such patients are dubbed as people
“in sub-health condition.” In fact, “sub-health” is lack of good health. People
are classified into the “sub-health” group when their symptoms cannot yet be
labeled with particular disease names.
“Sub-health” can be more dangerous than a known illness. When you wait
until mild symptoms become “diseases,” symptoms become serious. The pain
of PaidaLajin and Sha are accurate indicators of (potential) health problems;
where you feel pain and have Sha, there is a health problem. When medication
and surgery are applied to control and kill, the symptoms can further deteriorate.
More medicine and operations will be needed, dragging people into a vicious
cycle of life-long medication. Very often, patients die not of the initial illness,
but of drug-induced diseases and other iatrogenic diseases developed during
treatment.
Our recommendation:
It is easy to self-heal Heart disease. Make a list of your concerns and see
if your loved ones and the world will cease to exist when you let go of them. If
you can really let go of your concerns, much of your illness will be gone. If you
cannot let go, Paida the inner elbows, your limbs, chest, back, and your entire
body for 5–30 minutes per region each session, and stretch on a Lajin bench for
10–30 minutes per leg each time. Be grateful and repent during PaidaLajin. If
this does not help, attend a PaidaLajin workshop, learn and practice
PaidaLajin, meditation, meditative jogging, Waist Swirling, Wall Hitting, and
Tie Qiang Gong (see video tutorials on the English website), and self-heal your
illnesses.
Very often, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease are manifested in the
same patient, and they are one of the most typical groups of complex diseases.
Patients with these diseases and their family often cannot cope with it and are
unaware of their priority. The disease names, heart rate, blood glucose, and
blood pressure levels often mislead them.
However, if we simplify things and try to discover the root cause, then
everything else will fall into its proper place. The root cause of all these
diseases is in the “Heart.” And almost all chronic diseases originate from the
Heart, for instance, tumors, insomnia, depression, skin diseases, mental
illnesses, liver and kidney problems, immune, nervous, digestive, and
respiratory system disorders. Chinese medicine concludes that all illnesses
originate from the Heart and are cured through heart-felt changes. When the
Heart (King of bodily organs) has problems, other internal organs (civil and
military ministers serving the King) take some of the burden off the King, thus
causing diseases with these organs. In other words, all diseases are
manifestations of Heart disease.
For instance, in March 2015, we had a 5-day clinical workshop in
partnership with TAG-VHS Diabetes Research Centre in Chennai, India. Most
of the diabetic patients who attended the workshop also had heart disease and
hypertension (or hypotension).
Hypertension (or hypotension) is in essence a problem with the Heart. As
a result, the top priority of Paida is to dredge the Heart and Pericardium
meridians. As long as blockages in these two meridians are removed, blood will
flow more naturally, and the body will produce various hormones beneficial to
health. Conscientious Paida on the “universal regions” stimulates the body to
produce even more hormones; thus, the body acts as a pharmaceutical factory
to produce “endogenous medicine.”
Indeed, the workshop participants voluntarily reduced the dosage or
stopped medicine and insulin injections, and each day they drank ginger and
jujube tea with brown sugar in it. At the end of the workshop, the high blood
glucose and blood pressure levels fell and the low levels rose naturally. Some
patients continued PaidaLajin at home and no long needed medicine and
insulin injections, and their indicators are returning to normal.
The very fact that diabetics’ blood glucose levels are normalized after
reducing or stopping medication and insulin injections, and drinking ginger and
jujube tea with brown sugar, shows that diabetes has nothing to do with sugar
intake. Rather, it is because the body cannot produce enough insulin in vivo to
decompose sugar, which leads to high blood sugar. By practicing PaidaLajin,
the body will automatically secrete the much-needed insulin and other
hormones. In addition, high blood pressure will be lowered and low blood
pressure will be increased, until it returns to normal (for more details, please
refer to Chapter V A preliminary report on PaidaLajin clinical research
workshop).
Our recommendation:
These three diseases are chronic. Thus our recommendation for
self-healing chronic diseases is applicable. It’s best to attend a PaidaLajin
self-healing workshop. If you are practicing at home and are too weak to slap,
do more stretching, preferably 2–3 times a day. With limited time and energy,
slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), and then move on to
slap your limbs, armpits, belly, and groin areas. After much Sha is expelled
from these regions, slap the entire body in a “carpet bombing” manner.
If you or another patient has stabilized the condition, focus more on
slapping the universal regions, particularly the hands and feet. Slap all over the
feet, including the sole, instep, inner and outer sides of the ankle, and the toes.
Where Sha does not come out easily, a Paida stick can be used. Slap each
region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida
longer and for more rounds.
After the Sha disappears, a new round of Paida can be started. Drink
ginger and jujube tea daily whether you have weak or abundant energy. When
the diseases are healed, PaidaLajin should be continued to maintain good
health. And the intensity and frequency can be gradually lowered. Mainly,
Paida the universal regions and the head, stretch regularly, and make
PaidaLajin an integral part of daily life.
IV Alzheimer’s disease
Our recommendation:
First, Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet),
particularly the inner elbows and the back of hands; and then focus more on
slapping the entire head. In the beginning, just slap on the top, left, right, front
and back sides of the head, and the neck; when the patient becomes accustomed
to Paida, move on to also slap the eyes, ears, cheeks, and mouth.
Try to engage and guide Alzheimer’s patients in group slapping and
stretching games. For an elderly patient with very stiff legs, DO NOT
forcefully straighten the legs. Start from raising and stretching the legs
alternately while the patient is lying flat on a bed. It is working as long as the
patient feels the pain of stretching. Gradually extend the duration and lift the
legs higher to enhance intensity. And then move on to use the Lajin bench.
Slap each region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe
symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.
For an elderly patient with normal mobility and a clear mind, follow our
recommendation for self-healing chronic diseases.
Prostate disorders are quite common among elderly men. Over 90% of
men over 70 years old suffer from such problems as prostatitis, prostate
enlargement, and prostate cancer. Common symptoms include urgent, frequent,
and incomplete urination, and local and large-area pain and swelling. Many
women, after childbirth, suffer from urethritis, frequent urination, and urinary
incontinence. Urinary disorders in both men and women lead to frequent
bathroom visits at night.
Our recommendation:
The Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridians regulate water channels in the
body. However, all internal organs are related to these disorders. Please follow
our recommendation for self-healing chronic diseases. Focus more on slapping
the inner side of each thigh, groin areas, lower abdomen, and buttocks. When
the condition improves, gradually slap along the limbs and the feet to
thoroughly detoxify. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve
more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds.
Stretch 1–3 time(s) a day, and gradually extend the duration up to 30
minutes per leg each session. Add sandbags weighing 6.5–33 lbs on each leg.
We have countless records and testimonials of patients with prostate
disorders who have self-healed with PaidaLajin. The most dramatic case is an
86-year-old patient with terminal prostate cancer. He has been cured of the
cancer thanks to his daughter’s high-power Paida on him for nearly three
months. Sometimes, she would slap one of his legs for 4.5 hours. Although the
patient yelled out of pain during the entire process, the result of the prolonged
“torture” is that the cancer is cured, and a lot of other diseases are also cured.
Please visit our website to learn more about these healing “miracles.”
Globally, annual breast screenings for women have been prescribed. Many
do not know that patients with breast diseases also suffer from depression,
though the severity may vary. It is safe to say that breast cancer is a
manifestation of depression. And depression is a manifestation of heart disease.
In short, problems with the “Heart” (emotional problems) and heart disease are
the root causes of breast diseases; they are caused by blockages in the Heart
and Pericardium meridians.
Our recommendation:
The best checkup and prevention is to slap on the breasts, inner elbows,
and other universal regions (knees, hands, and feet). As long as there is intense
pain, Sha, lumps, and reddish swelling, there are meridian blockages. Whether
it’s breast cancer or mammary gland hyperplasia, the symptoms will be
relieved and the lumps will gradually disappear with persistent PaidaLajin.
Slap each region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms,
Paida longer and for more rounds.
Even for a woman diagnosed with breast cancer or mammary gland
hyperplasia, the disease names are still misleading. This is because cancer and
hyperplasia are “fruits” of problems with the patient’s internal organs,
especially the heart. The recommendations for self-healing chronic diseases can
apply here. First Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet),
and then focus more on slapping the breasts, armpits, chest and back. Slap all
around the breasts thoroughly, particularly the outer sides of the breasts
adjacent to the armpits, and the entire armpits. Much Sha and many lumps can
come out, and the process of Paida can be quite painful. However, the greater
the pain of slapping is, the more self-evident that Paida is the correct therapy,
and the better the effect will be. Then slap on the head, groin areas, four limbs,
abdomen, buttocks, and the entire body. Stretch 1–3 time(s) a day, and
gradually extend the duration up to 30 minutes per leg each session. Add
sandbags weighing 6.5–33 lbs on each leg. Drink ginger and jujube tea and
take a warm-water footbath every day.
It’s best to attend a PaidaLajin workshop. Simple, effective exercises
including meditation, meditative jogging, meditative standing, Waist Swirling,
Wall Hitting, and Tie Qiang Gong practiced in the workshop can become daily
exercises.
It should be emphasized that slapping the breasts is an ideal way to screen
and prevent breast cancer.
Our recommendation:
For acute stroke, focus on slapping the inner elbows, Neiguan acupoint on
each arm and both hands. When the acute symptoms are gone, slap the
universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), and then along the limbs.
More often, a stroke patient already suffers from sequelae, has speaking
difficulty, and is paralyzed on one side of the body. Whichever side is
paralyzed, slap both sides of the body, and then slap the entire head, including
the top, left, right, front, and back sides; the neck; and the cheeks. For those
with speaking difficulty, focus more on slapping the head, the cheeks, and the
back of the hands, and then slap all over the body. Slap each region for 5–60
minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for
more rounds. Take a warm-water footbath every day.
Generally, these patients love to eat meat, over-eat, and are afraid of pain.
Guide and encourage them to eat less and go vegetarian. It’s best to fast one
day a week, or to always skip supper.
One typical symptom is stiff fingers. Focus on slapping the back of the
hands and the fingers. Slap one hand for 1–2 hours until the hand swells up and
Sha comes out thoroughly. Then slap the back of the other hand, and the insteps
of both feet, each for 1–2 hours, until they swell up and Sha comes out
thoroughly. Drink ginger and jujube tea. Take a warm-water footbath and
stretch for 1 to 3 times per day.
Paralyzed patients feel excruciating pain doing either Paida or Lajin.
However, it is precisely because of the pain that PaidaLajin is effective. And
the more PaidaLajin a patient can take, the better the healing effect will be. In
2011 when I visited Tibet for a second time, I met a lama with stroke-induced
paralysis who had been bedridden for three years. He was treated with four
hours’ intensive PaidaLajin with the help of 7–8 young lamas. Indeed, it was a
very painful experience, and his two layers of clothes were soaked with sweat.
After PaidaLajin, he was able to walk with crutches. The following day he
came again and received another four hours’ PaidaLajin. He howled out of pain
during the entire process. Again, there were 7–8 young lamas slapping him.
This time, he did not need the crutches after PaidaLajin. He was able to walk
slowly on his own feet. In my experience, this is the fastest and most effective
case of PaidaLajin healing stroke-induced paralysis.
These illnesses are common among men and women, young and old. For
a large number of the patients, they are the consequences of medication for
other illnesses. Although the disease names relate to the kidneys, in actual fact,
all the internal organs have severe problems, particularly the heart, liver, spleen,
and kidneys.
Normally, treatment of these diseases lasts long and the medical expenses
can be alarmingly high; kidney dialysis in particular can be a huge financial
burden on the family and government. However, these diseases can be
improved and self-healed. The key is to change the mindset and take actions to
self-heal. The diseases may sound horrifying; however, they are in essence a
compound manifestation of multiple diseases. And the patient’s Heart, Liver,
Spleen, Kidney, Stomach, Gall Bladder, Urinary Bladder, Big, and Small
Intestine meridians are heavily clogged. The only option is to “ignore the
disease name.” In short, they are caused by meridian blockages, and
unblocking meridians heals.
Our recommendation:
Slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet) first, and then
slap along the four limbs. In particular, slap the hands and feet for a long time;
then slap the entire body in a “carpet bombing” manner. Slap each region for
5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and
for more rounds. When the Sha has subsided, start a new round of Paida. Do
several rounds of full-body, thorough Paida. Stretch 1–3 times a day, 5–40
minutes per leg each session. Add sandbags weighing 11 lbs. on each leg.
Drink ginger and jujube daily.
There have been records of both children and adults successfully
self-healing kidney failure. During the process of PaidaLajin, the patient can
experience a number of healing reactions, such as pain, nausea, vomiting,
diarrhea, dizziness, and fainting. These are signs of great healing effect. Slap
on the inner elbows and Neiguan acupoint to relieve healing reactions; rest well
and continue PaidaLajin. DO NOT stop PaidaLajin because of any of the
healing reactions. DO NOT take the reward as punishment.
The body, mind, and soul are one. They interact and impact one another.
Patients with depression or other mental disorders suffer from many physical
illnesses as well. In fact, all the internal organs are malfunctioning, particularly
the heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, and intestines; their corresponding meridians
and the brain are very clogged.
Our recommendation:
Slap the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet) first, and then
slap along the four limbs, the entire head, chest, back, armpits, and groin areas.
Focus more on the inner elbows, Neiguan acupoint on each arm, head, hands
and feet. Slap each region for 5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe
symptoms, Paida longer and for more rounds. A patient with severe depression
has even more severe heart problems. Sometimes, when the inner elbows are
being slapped, the skin can break, and toxic blood and fluid will seep out. And
the patient will recover faster.
A patient with depression tends to cry during Paida. Involuntary crying
during Paida is a good healing reaction. It is the self-healing mechanism
clearing toxins in the heart. And it helps to open up the Heart. Leave the patient
to cry it all out, and the healing effect will be much better. After the crying,
slapping and stretching can be continued and a new round of Paida can be
started. Stretch 1–3 times a day. Drink ginger and jujube tea daily.
Crying, vomiting, and other discomforts often appear during fasting and
PaidaLajin. These are great detox reactions. Toxins in the upper part of the
torso cannot easily be excreted in urine and stool; when they are vomited out of
the body, it not only helps to self-heal diseases with the heart, lungs, and
respiratory tract, it will make the patient much more refreshed, energetic, and
physically stronger.
People who persist in PaidaLajin can get taller, slimmer (or fatter for
overly thin people), and better looking. However, these are “by-products” of
PaidaLajin, not the main objectives.
Obesity, acne, pimples, freckles, rough skin, and color spots are in essence
health problems. These symptoms are caused by meridian blockages. The skin
and weight problems are related to such chronic diseases as insomnia, diabetes,
hypertension, depression, constipation, heart, kidney, spleen and stomach
problems, or gynecological disorders.
Our recommendation:
Stretch first. The longer the duration, the greater the intensity, and the
more frequent the practice is, the better the effect of Lajin will be. For women
with sagging breasts after childbirth, stretching on a Lajin bench can most
effectively reverse the problem. Unlike the pull of gravity on the breasts often
experienced in sports—which leads to sagging breasts—while lying on the
Lajin bench with arms stretching backward, the breasts are pulled upward, thus
enhancing the elasticity of the breasts.
Focus on slapping the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet),
breasts, belly, waist, buttocks, and thighs where a lot of fat and toxins tend to
accumulate. For those with severe color spots, focus more on slapping the
cheeks and the affected areas, the limbs, hands, and feet. Slap each region for
5–60 minutes each time. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and
for more rounds.
The majority of overly thin people suffer from various chronic diseases,
particularly spleen and stomach problems. Follow our recommendation for
self-healing chronic diseases. Focus more on slapping the universal regions
(elbows, knees, hands, and feet), Zusanli acupoint, and the four limbs. With
persistent PaidaLajin practice, it is natural to gain some weight.
Whether for gaining or losing weight, drink ginger and jujube tea, and
take warm-water footbaths daily. Your body weight will eventually reach a
balanced state.
Scoliosis (a back problem that causes the spine to curve to one side), a
hunched back, and stiff and contracted tendons obstruct Qi and blood flow, and
affect a person’s height. Persistent PaidaLajin returns the bones to their proper
position and makes the tendons flexible, improves Qi and blood circulation,
and increases height. It has been proven effective on men and women, young
and old. Some old people become taller because PaidaLajin causes
intervertebral distances to increase.
Almost all workshop participants have experienced these “by-products” in
addition to self-healing many diseases. As long as the meridians are unblocked,
you will benefit from the “by-products.” And depending on age, health
condition, and the intensity of PaidaLajin practice, it is not unusual for
someone to lose 11–45 lbs in 1–6 month(s).
XI Sexual dysfunction
Over the past few years, I have received countless emails inquiring
whether PaidaLajin can improve sexual dysfunction. This problem not only
applies to personal health, but can also affect the harmony within a family.
According to Chinese health statistics, the incidence of illness and
medication-induced erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult males is at least 10%.
This figure does not include those who avoid seeking medical treatment.
Erectile dysfunction can be either organic or psychological (i.e., induced by
stress and tension). But the essence is the same—a functional disorder is a
complex disease caused by blockages in a number of meridians.
Sexual dysfunction in men and women can have different origins: A man
is most concerned about the size and function of his penis, particularly the
(potential) problems of impotence and premature ejaculation. In fact, the size
and strength of his penis are superficial manifestations of the more crucial
“software” driving it, i.e., whether a man has enough Qi (energy) and smooth
flowing meridians.
By contrast, a woman’s sexual dysfunctions can often result from
concerns about the visual beauty of her figure, particularly the size and shape
of her breasts and buttocks, and the smoothness of her skin.
Despite their different concerns, men and women’s sexual disorders are
fundamentally the same problem with Qi. Enough Qi brings fullness, function,
and beauty; insufficient Qi results in atrophy, dysfunction, and lack of beauty.
In short, Qi is vital to sexuality.
Imagine that a man’s penis is like a balloon. With enough Qi, it inflates;
without enough Qi or when Qi leaks prematurely, it shrinks. An overweight
man tends to suffer kidney deficiency and shortness of breath, thus his figure
may look big, but the penis may be tiny. When I was a child, I used to go to a
public bathhouse. We boys used to comment on adult men’s penises. And we
discovered a surprise finding: Normally, an obese man’s penis looked like an
almost invisible screw. And we wondered why a big man should have a smaller
penis. When I became an adult myself, I found that some men have a large but
soft, unsustainable penis. This could bring more distress. Later on, I learned
that these all resulted from problems with the “software”—Qi and its flow.
Qi also determines whether a woman’s breasts look beautiful in size and
shape. A woman’s skin will dry and breasts shrink as she ages because her Yang
energy weakens. In fact, a woman’s sexual dysfunction manifests as various
diseases and symptoms, particularly anger, fatigue, insomnia, depression,
constipation, waist pain, Qi deficiency, irregular heartbeat, gynecological
disorders, hot upper body and cold lower limbs, irritating hot sensation in the
palms, the soles, and in the chest. Many of these symptoms appear during
menopause; however, some women have such symptoms at around 40. I call it
“Early Menopause Syndrome.”
Of course, the Qi here does not refer to the air, but the Yang energy a
person has. Chinese people often say, “Qi sustains a person’s life.” In the
phrases “good Qi color on the face,” and “lose all the Qi (dead),” Qi refers to
Yang energy. According to Chinese medicine, Qi propels blood flow. That is to
say, it is Qi that moves blood along the vessels. Although a man’s penis, and a
woman’s breasts and vagina have inflatable tissues, it is Qi, not blood or nerve
cells that determines their functioning. In short, whether sexual apathy or
dysfunction, they are consequences of deficient Yang energy.
Then comes the next question: How to boost Yang energy? Take
nourishing foods and supplements? Haven’t there been enough such drugs and
supplements from ancient times till today? Consider the dog penis, Chinese
pilose antler, Viagra and other Western biochemical drugs; don’t they deplete a
man’s Yang energy, have negative effects, and even make him die earlier? If
drugs and supplements really work, kings and the richest men in human history
should live healthiest and longest. But it has never been so. Taking drugs,
hormones, and other supplements often damages internal organs and leads to
many “drug-induced diseases.” Read the drug instructions carefully, and you
will find that drugs for treating insomnia, diabetes, depression, hypertension,
heart disease and other common illnesses have a number of negative effects
that damage internal organs, impair the generation of Yang energy, and block
their channels (i.e., meridians). Some people take drugs to control blood
glucose and blood pressure levels, but they suffer weakening liver, spleen and
kidney functions, and poor or no sexuality.
Natural Yang energy connects with the energy of the universe. Energy is a
vibration frequency that regulates the boundless universe and all forms of life
in a subtle and accurate way. The meridian system in the human body provides
channels for energy flow. Smooth energy flow in meridians equals great
nourishment. A person has sufficient Yang energy when the body can generate
Yang energy normally and the meridians are free of blockages. The heart, liver,
kidneys, urinary bladder, and their corresponding meridians are involved in the
process. Manifestations of deficient Yang energy in a man include decreased
sexual function and prostate disorders, particularly impotence and premature
ejaculation; in a woman, depression, sexual apathy, and gynecological
disorders.
Many Chinese people believe that the renal function determines the sexual
function. In actual fact, the heart, King of organs, is the most crucial. When the
Heart is not at peace, the entire kingdom (the human body) will be in a mess.
Our desires and aspirations originate from the Heart. The Heart energy is the
seat of a person’s vitality. Without the power of the Heart, a person has no
desires at all, including sexual desire, and may have already been depressed.
The second most important organs are the two kidneys. All Chinese men
know the significance of renal function, however, there is nothing much they
can do about it. The kidney energy continually depletes from a person’s birth to
death. A man’s renal function weakens with age; the same is true with women,
only it is manifested in different ways: insomnia, headache, constipation, hair
loss, waist pain, knee pain, menstrual pain, irregular periods, or frequent
urination.
The liver is the third most vital organ. If you observe the Liver meridian
in a meridians chart, you will find that it circles around the genital organ
internally and externally. And ancient Chinese dubbed the penis as “Zong Jin,”
the reproductive tendon. According to Chinese medicine, the Liver governs the
tendons. Hence, the Liver is the direct governor of the penis.
The urinary bladder is the fourth most important organ. It is located in the
backyard of the penis, and urine and sperm share the same passage in the penis.
As the kidneys and urinary bladder are paired to govern the water channels in
the body, they thrive and wither together. The health of the prostate, which
impacts the health of the penis, is directly influenced by the Urinary Bladder
meridian. Most men over 60 have prostate disorders, whose main symptoms
are urgent, frequent, and incomplete urination. They go to the bathroom many
times a night. Prostate disorders affect sleep and sexual function. The urinary
bladder is also the largest detoxification channel in the body, and the health of
the Urinary Bladder meridian has a huge impact on the functions of liver,
spleen, and kidneys. Edema is resulted from blockages in the Kidney and
Urinary Bladder meridians.
To boost Yang energy, it is imperative to remove blockages from the Heart,
Kidney, Liver, and Urinary Bladder meridians.
But the question is, “How?”
I have used acupuncture, acupressure, bone setting, and other external
therapies to successfully unblock meridian blockages. However, only a handful
of people can apply these therapies to themselves. To self-heal, the first option
is to stretch on a standard Lajin bench. The biggest benefit of Lajin in a
reclining posture is that it can quickly boost Yang energy. During Lajin, the
meridians closely linked to the sexual function are dredged to varying degrees.
In fact, all tendons and ligaments, and almost all 14 main meridians in the body
are being stretched in one go, particularly the Liver, Spleen and Kidney
meridians along the inner side of each leg, the Urinary Bladder meridian along
the hind side of each leg, and the Heart and Pericardium meridians along the
inner side of each arm. During the process, the pain of stretching reveals that
there are blockages in the meridians and that they are being unblocked.
Normally, the inner and hind sides of legs, and the shoulders and upper arms
where these meridians run along hurt the most. Moreover, Lajin clears the
Liver meridian, and boosts liver energy and function, as “Liver governs the
tendons.” With enough liver energy, the “reproductive tendon” (penis) will
have enough energy.
Paida, similar to Lajin, works to remove meridian blockages and enhance
Yang energy.
First, Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet)
(because they cover key acupoints along all 14 main meridians), either directly
or indirectly, especially those along the Heart, Kidney, Liver and Urinary
Bladder meridians. An acupoint is like a compressor station along an energy
pipeline. Next, Paida all four limbs, particularly the armpits, groin areas, and
the inner side of each leg. The “eight weak corners (armpits, groin areas, inner
elbows, and back of knees)” are located along the limbs, and there are
meridians and acupoints most closely linked to sexual organs. Then, Paida all
over the body from head to toe, i.e., “carpet bombing” Paida. Slap each region
for 5–60 minutes at an intensity within the recipient’s pain tolerance. However,
there needs to be moderate pain. To relieve more severe symptoms, slap longer
and more times.
It is an open secret among the men who persist in PaidaLajin practice that
it greatly boosts their sexual function. An obvious sign of this improvement is
the restored morning erection (a sign of sufficient Yang energy) in many
middle-aged and older men. During one PaidaLajin seminar, a chiropractor
from Los Angeles said that in her clinic, enhanced sexual functioning is at the
top of the Lajin benefits list, both in men and women.
In addition to PaidaLajin, Waist Swirling, Tie Qiang Gong, and Wall
Hitting are simple and effective exercises for quickly boosting sexual
functioning, greatly improving kidney and heart energy.
Although I’m talking about sexual function from the perspective of a man,
these exercises are applicable to women as well. The meridians in men and
women go in the same direction, and the impact of Qi on a man’s penis is the
same as its impact on a woman’s breasts and genital organ. In a word, sufficient
Qi makes fullness; deficient Qi results in apathy and atrophy.
Breasts play a significant role in a woman’s sex life. However, breasts can
become a warehouse of toxins and wastes. Nine meridians pass by the breasts:
the Ren, Heart, Pericardium, Lung, Liver, Spleen, Kidney, Stomach, and Gall
Bladder meridians. When these meridians are clogged, a woman will suffer
from a lot of diseases, including depression, heart disease, uterine fibroids,
thyroid disorders, and breast tumors. A female fitness expert wrote that all
breast-beautifying therapies, whether physical, chemical, surgical, or implants,
have side effects. Well, PaidaLajin is the most natural and healthy way to
improve the appearance of a woman’s breasts, because there are no unpleasant
or unhealthy side effects.
If you do have sexual dysfunction, you can practice PaidaLajin to
self-heal. If you do not have sexual disorders, you can still practice PaidaLajin
to enhance your sexual function and create a healthy, sexy glow. PaidaLajin
mainly works to boost Yang energy and unblock meridian blockages. With
enough Yang energy, diseases will self-heal, and your stamina and physique
will improve.
However, if your only, or primary, motivation for practicing PaidaLajin is
to increase or restore your libido, remember that sexual satisfaction is not equal
to happiness. But health management opens the door to life management and
greater happiness.
XII Autism
Our recommendation:
Autism mostly starts very young. Encourage autistic children to play the
Paida game, and do regular Wall Hitting, Tie Qiang Gong, and Waist Swirling
exercises in a group.
Gradually go from gentle to heavier Paida. In addition to patting the
universal regions (elbows, knees, hands, and feet), focus more on patting the
four limbs, head, hands and feet. For the hands, feet, and head, pat each region
for 5-60 minutes. To relieve more severe symptoms, Paida longer and for more
rounds.
Do not panic if colorful patches of Sha, lumps, and reddish swelling
appears at the slapped areas. These are good healing reactions.
Take warm-water footbaths, and drink ginger and jujube tea daily. Stretch
1–3 time(s) a day, and gradually extend the duration of stretching to over 30
minutes per leg each session.
Paida applied to a child can appear cruel, and some people cannot make
themselves do it. However, when you pat a kid with loving care, in spite of the
Sha, pain, crying, and reddish swelling, it is beneficial to the child. And it is
true love.
Chapter V PaidaLajin Self-Healing Workshop
Improvements were seen in each of the six participants with high blood
glucose levels. At the beginning of the workshop, those who used to take
hypoglycemic agents voluntarily stopped medication and insulin injections.
During the workshop, participants did morning jogging, practiced PaidaLajin
for 4–5 hours a day, fasted for three days, and drank ginger and jujube tea with
brown sugar in it.

Summary
Parkinsonism
1. ID: 3975 – (Marks: 5/10)
This 58 years old man with H/o. Parkinsonism under treatment came to
our center recently for initiation of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Energy
Therapy by using BM Pulser. He is a known case of T2DM – 8 years / HTN
– 5 years on medical management. His main complaints are rigidity left upper
limb ++, eye movement upward gaze present, downward gaze absent, and
tends to lean on the left side. He also had aphonia (barely audible voice). He is
on Tab. Syndopa plus 100/25 4 times a day. He completed the 5-day course.
His rigidity reduced significantly and blood sugar was well under control
without OHA. He could phonate audibly. His anti-Parkinsonism drug dosage
was reduced by 50% and anti-BP medicines were stopped for the time being.
He is following the PaidaLajin self-healing therapy at home, and feels
improvement in rigidity and sugars were also well controlled without OHA.

Before Paida, the patient could only take very small steps due to stiff legs. <Image 11.png>
The day before yesterday I took High Speed Rail G60 from my hometown
Ningbo city back to Beijing. On the way, I suddenly heard an
announcement—a passenger in Compartment No. 5 was feeling some
discomforts and needed a doctor or a medical professional’s assistance.
Apparently, no one responded to this announcement. When I heard the
same broadcast the fourth time, I stood up and went over to have a look. Well, I
did not know what gave me the courage. I thought to myself, “The passenger
may be having cardiovascular disease or gastrointestinal disease. Paida might
be of some help.” I felt a bit uncertain although I was quite sure of the effect of
Paida.
I arrived there and saw some attendants. They assumed that I was a doctor
and was very happy that I had come to offer help.
I told them, “I am not a doctor. But I have some medical knowledge.”
They told me that the passenger was suffering from dizziness and
hypertension. Hearing this, I felt more certain that I could handle it. They found
a blood pressure meter and asked if I could measure blood pressure. I used to
do it for my father. So I told them, “Yes.”
Soon, they moved the patient over to me. He was a man in his 40–50s.
The attendants told me, “We have called for ambulance. We will let him
get off at the next station to receive first aid. Now there are over 20 minutes left.
Please help relieve his symptoms.”
The patient’s eyes were half closed, and he was frowning. He said he felt
very dizzy. The attendants let him sit down and they looked at me, gesturing for
me to measure his blood pressure. Seeing his condition, I felt that the top
priority was not to measure his blood pressure, but to actually lower it. And the
most convenient way to lower blood pressure is to slap on the inner elbows and
Neiguan acupoint. So I put down the meter, took his left arm and began to slap
on the inner elbow. I asked an attendant beside me to help slap on his right
elbow. She hesitated, but then began to slap along with me.
The patient told me, “I have high blood pressure. A few days ago, I went
to a hospital in Ningbo and my readings were 130–150. I am going to Beijing
for further examination and treatment. I did not take anti-hypertensive drugs
this noon.”
While doing Paida, I told him, “Just relax. Paida is similar to acupuncture
and skin scraping therapies. It will relieve your symptoms very soon.”
After a while, some Sha appeared at the elbow. Then I moved on to slap
his Neiguan acupoint. The attendant did not slap hard for fear that it would hurt
the patient.
About 5–10 minutes later, the patient was able to open his eyes. And he
said that much of the dizziness was gone. He gestured for me to stop Paida and
said “thank you.”
The attendants were relieved to see his improvement. They said, “The
ambulance is waiting at the next station.”
The patient hesitated, “I may not need it any more. I want to go to
Beijing.”
However, the attendants still urged him to get off at the next station to
receive first aid.
I went back to my seat in Compartment No. 4 just next door. After a while,
the train arrived at the station. Still, the attendants arranged for the patient to
get off.
Paida works really fast. I’m glad that I had the courage to offer him help.
And, I feel it a pity that most people do not know that simple Paida can help
prevent and self-heal diseases; or perhaps, even if they know Paida, they do
not take this simple folk therapy seriously. Well, in that case, the only option is
to go to the hospital.
One day, I took my son to a small shop to buy things. When he was
picking his favorite cookies, the owner of the shop suddenly cried out. It scared
me, because I thought there was a robbery. I followed the sounds and found
that his three-year-old grandson was in a coma due to high fever-induced
convulsion. And the child’s eyes were rolled upward.
I did not hesitate to think, but instantly grabbed his arm and began to slap
on the inner elbow. The shop owner knew that I could do pediatric massage, so
he just let me slap him. One, two, three slaps…as I continued Paida, the kid
seemed to regain consciousness. I then asked the shop owner to imitate me and
slap on the other arm. We slapped together for a while. Soon the child was
conscious of the pain of Paida and tried to avoid it. But he was still not awake,
and there were tears at the corners of his eyes. I slapped along the arm to
Neiguan acupoint. Several dark spots of Sha appeared at the slapped area. I
slapped harder at Neiguan acupoint. Suddenly the child burst into tears. Great!
He was awake. What great joy!
Because I had learned pediatric massage, I knew that his high
fever-induced convulsion was caused by retention of food in the stomach. So I
asked the shop owner to give the child a massage on the abdomen in the
clockwise direction. I also gave him a massage for bringing down fever and
relaxing the bowels.
The second day when I visited the shop again, I saw the little boy alive
and kicking. Had he been sent to the hospital, he would have been given
several days of infusion. Moreover, it is hard to bring down fever without
healing indigestion. A doctor of Western medicine may not have seen the root
cause and would not have treated it holistically.
I’m glad that I know and practice PaidaLajin self-healing method.
I think Paida on the breasts is a must for women. I have done it many
times myself. This time I have recorded the whole process, and I’m eager to
share it with others. If you do a random survey, you will find that virtually
every woman has period pain and/or breast problems, such as soreness,
swellings, hard lumps, etc. But it would be really foolish if she ignored these
symptoms until they got out of hand.
In my case, at the beginning, I felt my right arm sore and sometimes weak.
I slapped it many times, but the soreness persisted just near my armpit. One day
my best girlfriend came over to help. Thanks to her heavy Paida, Sha came out
quickly. As I fully appreciated the health benefits of Paida, I did not mind the
pain. All I wanted was thorough detoxification.
It’s strange that Sha emerged from where Paida wasn’t the hardest, so she
traced the Sha and continued Paida. Then we found more bluish lumps toward
my breast.
After half an hour, we traced Sha down to the end, and I finally found that
the problem was with my right breast. With the rhythmic Paida sounds, this
kind of “self-torture” really made me excited, for normally a woman’s breasts
do not get such heavy Paida. Thinking of one of my relatives, a 45-year-old
woman, who lost half of one breast in a surgery, and many other women who
have breast problems, I had to try very hard to clear the meridians around my
breast.
For the health of breasts. My health, I Manage! <Image 14.png>
It lasted over one hour. My friend was tired out. Bluish lumps were all
over my right breast and the red Sha appearing in the beginning around the
armpit had faded. Paida on the sore arm revealed that my real problem was
with the breast, and I felt so happy even though my skin and muscles hurt.
Practice has proved that the human body is wise and will guide us if we listen
to it.
In a few days, my period came again, and it was smooth without any pain.
My right arm, quite sore for years even if I slapped it a few times, is no longer
sore after this round of Paida.
I am going to have my other breast slapped a few days later. A woman can
never afford to be careless about her breasts.
My comment:
In regard to breast diseases, women have the final word. There are many
similar self-healing stories posted at my Chinese blog, including one special
case where an egg-sized breast tumor disappeared after persistent Paida.
Dear women readers, more self-healing stories and photos are welcome
(you may choose to remain anonymous). This will help half of the world’s
population to relieve their agonies. And if wives and moms are healthy, won’t
their husbands and children be happy?
(1) I think coming to the Soweto Old Age Home was a blessing in
disguise for me because otherwise I would have never met Tshidi and Axel who
introduced me to Paida and La Jin.
I have diabetes and had a stroke. My left side was completely dead and I
could not speak. But now I am a different person. I can speak and join in when
others sing in church. I am regaining feeling.
It is a bit painful but at least I feel something and am confident that soon I
will be out of my wheel chair. I am truly grateful that Master Hong-Chi Xiao
developed this life saving technique and to Tshidi for devoting her time to help
us. May the Good Lord bless all of you.

I have been a diabetic and have suffered from hypertension ever since I
can remember. My health has never been good. My legs and feet suddenly
turned black and get painful at times. But ever since I started Paida and La Jin
with Tshidi in September 2012 my health has improved.
My blood pressure is now normal when I go for check-ups. As for my
diabetes I cannot even remember the last time I took insulin. I am grateful to
Tshidi, Axel, and Master Hong-Chi Xiao for giving me my life back.

My body was aching so much that the painkillers were not helping
anymore. This arthritis had stolen the joy of life from me. I had become
partially blind and that meant I had to rely on other people to help me with
every little thing in life. To me that was frustrating because I did not want to
spend my golden years as a burden to others.
I was about to give up when Tshidi and Axel came into my life with
Master Hong-Chi Xiao’s magical Paida and La Jin. I am telling you I am a
brand new person now. I am back to going to church by myself every Sunday,
go for a walk in the sun, and also do a little work in my vegetable garden. I
could not have done this without Paida and La Jin.
Thank you all so much.
With conditions such as the legs and the spine, my mother always took
painkillers and other bone drugs (at least 10 items of medicines) every day in
order to walk and reduce pain in the bones. Other treatments were massage
every two weeks and physiotherapy treatment.
My mother became familiar with massage treatment and physiotherapy,
but the pain was still there. In November 2014 she switched to acupuncture
treatment, but it was not very successful. And the acupuncturist also suggested
surgery, because according to him acupuncture could only help reduce the pain
but would not fix the pinched nerve and bone conditions that had osteoarthritis.
With the help of drugs, my mother endured the pain until March 2015
when she had to be hospitalized again because the stomach lining had eroded
and was virtually leaking (ultrasound examination results). Most likely it was
because of too many drugs over many years. Not able to stand my mother’s
suffering, I surrendered and asked for surgery on her knee.
Because of my mother’s insistence, I started looking for information on
recommended hospitals and doctors who conducted TKR in Medan, Jakarta,
Malaysia, Singapore, or Thailand.
While looking for the information, one of my friends introduced me to
PaidaLajin and sent me a YouTube link and an English manual about
PaidaLajin. From the link I looked for more information and became
acquainted with Mr. Wong and Mr. Hanafi. I then joined a WhatsApp group to
exchange information. The first impression that made me fall in love with
PaidaLajin was that PaidaLajin information does not suggest taking drugs or
supplements, and does not sell products, unlike other alternatives that
eventually try to sell supplements or medical equipment (multi-level
marketing).
I am very confident with the concepts of self-healing and “my health, I
manage.” I immediately applied PaidaLajin on my mother on April 26, 2015
and she stopped taking all kinds of drugs. The first week she did Lajin for 20
minutes on each leg with 4.5 lbs on the lowered foot, routinely every morning
and afternoon. The eighth day (2nd May 2015) I did Paida on both of her knee
joints, back of the feet, both inner elbows, and the entire back. Wherever I
slapped, there was Sha.
Feeling the money we invested in these activities was very large (in our
financial condition), my mother and I did it seriously and sincerely.
My mother’s health progress during the workshop in Bandung:
The first day: My mother arrived with a stick and had to be guided to
walk. After the initial examination, we followed a series of activities without
the slightest complaint regarding the activities and the food menu “without rice,
side dishes, or vegetables.” We tried to accept sincerely that everything
practiced in the workshop was the best for us. PaidaLajin, meditation, and
sharing activities went smoothly that day.
The second day: Jogging in the morning was painful for my mother. She
was only able to walk about 55 yards while the other participants jogged
around the field. Meditation was also a new thing for my mother. She sat there,
but just to see other people meditate. After being given an explanation of
meditation, she understood the benefit and decided to meditate more seriously
the next day. Lajin was not difficult for my mother because she often did it at
home, but Paida made my mother fear that the healing crisis would come
again.
Second day Lajin at Jakarta, Indonesia 2015
<Image 29.jpg>
The third day: With extraordinary zeal in the morning, my mother was
able to go two rounds around the soccer field although she rested eight times.
On this third day my mother was not using the cane anymore, but was still led
because of her fear of falling. She followed Paida (carpet bombing) and Lajin
with passion. She was much more spirited than when doing Paida at home,
because of the group Paida atmosphere and mutual motivation in the
workshop.
<Image 30.jpg>
The fourth day: My mother was able to walk and jog four times around
the ground. Amazing! I was very happy to see my mother’s health progress day
by day. She had no painful healing crisis, was in much better health, and she
felt more energetic although we began fasting on the fourth day. There was
only ginger and jujube, but her body was more refreshed and energetic. Initially
we were worried about her stomach disease, but strangely she felt no pain in
the stomach during fasting. Fantastic.
The fifth day: My mother jogged for five rounds in the soccer field
without a break and without any complaints. Knowing my mother’s progress, I
was very happy and cheerful. Today she did Paida with more passion. My
mother also testified to the workshop participants about how she felt.
The sixth day: She was feeling pain in the legs only at the time she
started to stand up. After standing up, 5 rounds around the soccer field was not
a tough job for her. Jogging today felt light. All activities felt short today.
Breakfast and health examination were carried out at the end of the event.
Fantastic results: blood pressure of 145/86 down to 110/77, weight reduced
from 164 lbs to 158 lbs, blood sugar dropped from 5.2 to 4.5. One more result
was no less important: my mother managed to quit smoking during the
workshop. For decades she had tried to quit smoking but failed. During the
workshop, my mother felt very uncomfortable around the smell of cigarettes,
and even inhaling cigarette smoke alone felt uncomfortable.
The seventh day: She kept up her spirit and went jogging today, although
some participants had already gone back home. We felt the sadness of
separation with other participants who had become friends, mingled with a
feeling of immense pleasure because of the health improvements achieved.
Photo shooting and submission of testimonials turned into something very
touching, and it was fun to hear the experience of peer participants during the
workshop. My mother shared that she had imagined PaidaLajin would apply to
family members and friends who were sick. Incredible! PaidaLajin is great for
us who have financial difficulties, because doctors and hospitals are very
expensive. My mother excitedly sang a song at the end of the workshop.
My Comment:
Many people assume that patients with terminal cancer and weak Qi and
blood cannot practice PaidaLajin. In this testimonial, an 86-year old patient
with terminal prostate cancer was healed with Paida. What revelation does this
give us? Of course we cannot conclude from it that all terminal cancer patients
can go through such heavy, thorough Paida, but it is OK to start PaidaLajin
gently, and then gradually increase the time and force. PaidaLajin can be for
everyone.
When diagnosed with prostate cancer the first time, Eva’s father already
had his testis swollen for more than 10 years, to as big as the size of two eggs,
in addition to having difficulties when he urinated. But after only three Paida
sessions, these symptoms all disappeared, including his prostate cancer.
However, Eva’s father was in fear of the pain from PaidaLajin, so he did not
sustain the effort. In June 2014, he was diagnosed with terminal prostate
cancer.
From Eva’s sharing, we can tell that her father did not suffer from just
prostate disease, but all kinds of complex diseases. But as terminal prostate
cancer was more deadly, it became the foremost problem. Eva’s father went
through four months of bone removal, radiotherapy, and other conventional
therapies, but was only left with near-hopeless results. He was meant to be
saved by PaidaLajin. With much Yin came the rise of Yang—Eva’s experience
of self-healing rheumatoid arthritis and her unmovable confidence in
PaidaLajin gave her great strength to help slap her father and healed him. It
took her 4.5 hours just to slap one leg. And he was in pain and groaned for the
4.5 hours. After nearly three months, his prostate cancer was gone, and his
prostate gland was in better shape than some middle-aged men. And almost all
his other diseases were gone too.
Eva’s father did not do Lajin. Had he practiced Lajin, he would have
recovered faster. Eva’s sharing also includes some key takeaways that will
benefit all readers. We are grateful to Eva and his father for making miracles
happen.

My mom has been doing PaidaLajin for nearly two years. She is 88, and
is quite healthy. Even when she occasionally feels uncomfortable due to slight
hypertension, gastric acid, or occasional constipation, she relieves the
symptoms through earnest practice of PaidaLajin. During the past two years,
she has had, by turns, doubts about and then confidence in PaidaLajin. As she
is an “intellectual,” naturally, she quite often demands “scientific explanations.”
And if she is not satisfied with the answer, she will regard it as unscientific, and
will harbor doubts about it.
The height of “war” with mom came after she had been practicing
PaidaLajin for nearly a year. At the time, her health was dramatically improved.
After stopping all medication, her heart condition and blood pressure remained
stable, years of dull pain in her stomach disappeared, the pain in her joints was
relieved, constipation and insomnia were greatly alleviated, and her neck
problem was cured. But then, mom decided to do a thorough check up, saying,
“I need scientific proof that I am indeed healthy.”
Prior to that, whenever mom went to the hospital, she had to take a cab,
because her heart could not stand the discomfort of public transport, and she
could not walk that far; but surprisingly, when she went for the check up, she
took a bus there along with her caregiver (we call her “Auntie”). When having
her blood pressure measured, she thought she must have high readings after
such a torturing bus ride. But to her surprise, the readings were 120/80. It
wasn’t that good even when she had been taking antihypertensive drugs. Mom
was very much pleased.
Two days later, the blood test results came out. All the indicators were
normal, except for slightly high blood fat.
When the doctor asked her what drugs she was taking to control the level,
mom replied, “Nothing.”
Then, the doctor overwhelmed her with criticism and “what is scientific.”
Because mom had two coronary stents (a heart surgery), the doctor warned that
without taking lipid-lowering drugs, there would be life-threatening danger.
But what the doctor chose to ignore or was simply not interested in was the fact
that she had normal blood pressure and all other indicators were good without
medication for more than a year. In the end, mom took home a pile of
“life-saving drugs.”
I would call home each day. Knowing that she was having doubts again, I
tried to explain that the goal of PaidaLajin was to remedy all disharmonies in
her body, including high cholesterol. Anyway, a slightly high level in a single
indicator did not mean much. But mom was determined to “work along both
lines,” because the doctor had warned that her life would be in danger if she did
not take the drugs.
She asked me, “Why are you so against medication? Why can’t I take the
drugs and do PaidaLajin at the same time?”
In fact, I had explained it to her time and again. And over the past few
decades, the piles of costly drugs had not cured her of anything, instead, she
had caught new diseases due to the side effects of medication, and she had
gotten weaker and weaker as a result of higher dosages and intake of more
varieties. PaidaLajin activates the self-healing power in us, while medication
tends to suppress and damage it. The so-called “working along both lines”
approach is useless. However, having been brainwashed by the doctor, mom
hastened to the dead end without turning back. And her voice went higher and
higher when arguing with me. I had to let it go even when tormented by much
anxiety, due to fear that her blood pressure would go up if she got too excited. I
had to respect her choice, and leave it to fate.
I was sleepless that night, a rare thing for me. I deeply felt that it may be
easy for children to have filial affection, but how hard it is to effectively
perform their filial duties. The next day, with a very disturbed mind, I phoned
mom as usual. I was ready to let go of my insistence, for after all, the
self-healing methods only cure diseases, and are not responsible for life and
death. To my surprise, mom did not use the same high-pitched voice she had
the day before, and strangely spoke in a soft tone.
Just as I was wondering why, I heard her say, “I’m stretching now.”
I asked her jokingly, just like when I was a mischievous child, “Why are
you still stretching? Don’t the drugs solve it all?”
Then I heard Auntie’s loud laughter and mom had to confess. After my
last call, she dared not take all the drugs as prescribed, so she swallowed only
one hypolipidemic tablet (for lowering blood lipid levels). Then she had a
severe headache, and later stomach cramps. She was much tortured by the pain
and relieved it with Paida.
She told me, “Now I finally realize what you meant when you said
working along both lines would not work.”
Facts speak louder than words. From that day on, mom has shaken off the
doctor’s “spell.” She has gained a new and deeper insight into the self-healing
methods, and has firmer confidence in them.
One year has passed, and mom has given up on medication altogether for
up to two years. She only practices PaidaLajin, and her condition is very stable.
During the period, she has not even had a bad cold, which shows her immunity
has remarkably improved. And this is the stable and fundamental source of her
health.
For more than two years, I have been practicing PaidaLajin myself and
have shared it with over 100 people. I have genuinely felt the power of one’s
mind and heart in treatment of diseases. One’s thoughts inevitably affect the
results. The best efficacy of PaidaLajin can be achieved only with harmony
and oneness of the body and mind. “Oneness” refers not only to harmony of the
body and mind when one is doing PaidaLajin himself, but also to the giver’s
and receiver’s state of mind when helping each other Paida.
Recently, I have been receiving calls and emails from readers anxiously
asking for my advice on how to help their sick parents. They face the same
dilemma I did. Their parents tried PaidaLajin in order not to disappoint them,
but deep down, they did not really believe in it. When they experienced healing
reactions, or when they did not see instant improvement, they would have
doubts and give up, or choose to go to the hospital.
Here is my advice. Ask yourself honestly, “How much confidence do I
have in PaidaLajin?”
If you have full confidence in it, I believe you will find your own ways to
influence and lead your loved ones to continue and gradually build their
confidence through practice. It is only a matter of time and patience. If your
family cannot accept them, then let it go, because if the giver and receiver are
not of the same mind, it will not yield good results. If you yourself lack
confidence, then I suggest you practice what you advocate in the first place.
Our thoughts play a decisive role in our lives and in our health. And they
can be changed. When we shake off our doubts, we will enhance our physical
and mental wellbeing.

“Mindfulness keeps away evil thoughts.”

My Comment:
Fei Schmitz’s mother has turned 90. She used to take 42.5 tablets a time,
three times a day. She has had no medicine for years after practicing
PaidaLajin. She slaps and stretches every day and is enviably healthy. And Fei
Schmitz herself has become a PaidaLajin promoter based in Germany.

Chapter VII On Disease Prevention and Health
Preservation
Imagine we were born just a few months ago. Our bodies are in perfect
shape. Our skin is soft and milky. We are constantly smiling and worry-free.
We love everyone. We have no enemies and everyone loves us. In short, we are
happy, healthy, and full of energy.
What happened to us since then? We busy ourselves with our pursuits and
indulge in various stimulants. We gradually become disappointed with life,
with people, with our job, or perhaps we should say, with the entire world. Our
health begins to deteriorate. Our energy begins to lag. We become unhappy and
frustrated. And we often procrastinate until we become really sick, then see a
doctor, take some medicine, or have surgery.
Are you in this kind of situation? Why wait until your condition becomes
alarming?
You know, our body is made as a complete, self-sustaining system. Its
intricacies and subtleties have not been fully understood by any of us yet. If we
follow its natural rhythm, we can stay healthy. So, in order to live a happy,
healthy, and meaningful life, we need to listen to our inner voice, live out who
we really are, and lead a green, balanced lifestyle. It may sound easier said than
done, but as you move ahead in this direction, you will know that it is
worthwhile.
The following are some common sense recommendations and knowledge
about how to prevent illness and maintain good health.
What roles does the meridian system play in the human body?
The meridian system is the cradle of vitality, the origin of the onset of
illnesses, the nest of the progress of the illnesses, and the key to curing a
patient.
Why shouldn’t I overuse my body?
Prolonged exertion of the eye hurts the blood; prolonged reclining hurts
the Qi; prolonged sitting hurts the muscle; prolonged standing hurts the bone;
prolonged walking hurts the Jin (tendons and ligaments).
In ancient times, people who knew the Tao followed the law of Yin-Yang
balancing interactions, applying health preservation methods, restraining
themselves in diet and drinking, keeping regular hours, and avoiding
exhaustion. Thus they were physically and spiritually healthy lived to the end
of their natural lifespan, and passed away at over 100 years of age.
The first priority is to nurse the Heart, then apply external treatment and
dietary therapies, and use medication as the last resort.
A superior ranking healer is able to treat the patient with a future illness; a
middle-ranking healer is able to treat the impending illness of the patient; an
inferior ranking healer treats only the patient who is ill already.
The best doctor clears away possible problems long before their onset;
while those who treat grave or fatal illnesses are the least capable ones. Now,
you can practice PaidaLajin and be your own best doctor.
How can I stay healthy?
Positive Qi inside our bodies will protect us from all kinds of external
damaging forces.
Clear yourself of greed and excessive thinking, then the positive Qi will
be kept in, and the spirit will remain inside. How can diseases possibly strike?
Why are the spleen and kidneys essential to health and longevity?
The spleen and the kidneys are directly related to Qi, our life energy. And
almost all illnesses are associated with deficient spleen and kidney energies.
Chinese medicine advocates nourishing the spleen, stomach, and kidneys
to maintain good health and slow down the aging process. Prenatal Qi (vital life
energy) is stored in the kidneys, and the spleen absorbs nutrition from the food
we eat. A person with abundant kidney energy is energetic, has healthy hair and
bones, good hearing and eyesight, and healthy sexual and reproductive
functions; a person with deficient kidney energy is listless and may not have a
healthy sex life.
Men are most afraid of kidney deficiency. Nowadays, various kidney drug
advertisements encourage men to “be strong.” They give the impression that
taking these drugs and supplements will boost the kidney energy and thus
sexuality.
In fact, women can suffer more from severe kidney deficiency than men.
A woman with deficient kidney energy tends to have gynecological disorders;
similarly, a man with deficient kidney energy tends to have prostate disorders.
The essence of “deficiency” is overuse and early aging. Hence, for better
disease prevention and health maintenance, we need to know and enhance the
kidney’s functions.
The kidneys and the urinary bladder are a pair, and they thrive or wither
together. Nourishing one nourishes the other. When stretching on a Lajin bench,
the Urinary Bladder meridian hurts the most, and the kidney energy soars as a
result.
In addition to boosting the kidney energy, we need to nourish the spleen to
better sustain life. A balanced diet nourishes the spleen and stomach. The
prenatal Qi in the kidneys is sustained and boosted by nourishment provided by
the spleen and stomach; and the spleen and stomach rely on the prenatal Qi to
warm up and digest the food. They are interdependent and work together to
sustain life activities.
Many people assume that digestion occurs in the stomach. In fact, the
spleen and stomach work together to digest food, and absorb and transport
nutrition, similar to how the kidneys and urinary bladder work together to
govern the flow of liquids in the body. When the spleen and stomach are
discordant, digestion and sleep will be affected.
We need to enhance the spleen and kidney energies in our daily lives, and
not wait until they are malfunctioning to treat them. The prenatal Qi in the
kidneys can be boosted through proper use, diet, and exercises; the spleen and
stomach can be nourished through “work and rest” balance.
In today’s world, many try to satisfy their desire for food and many suffer
from spleen and stomach problems, though to varying degrees of severity. We
can feel whether the stomach is empty or full, painful or bloated; however, this
cannot be felt so acutely when spleen problems are present. In fact, the spleen
and stomach is a pair, and when one is injured, the other is affected as well.
Moreover, spleen problems are more severe. According to the Five Elements
Theory in Chinese medicine, the spleen has the properties of earth, the kidney
has the properties of water, and the spleen earth has a prohibiting impact on the
kidney water. Hence, when the spleen is malfunctioning, the kidneys will be
damaged, and kidney deficiency will in turn induce more diseases.
According to Huang Di Nei Jing, the spleen and stomach, similar to
granaries, are responsible for food intake, absorption, conversion, and
distribution of nutrients. They not only include the physical organs of the
spleen and stomach, but also encompass the entire digestive system. According
to the Five Elements Theory, the Spleen with its properties of earth is in the
center, impacts the four elements of wood (liver), fire (heart), metal (lung) and
water (kidney), and nourishes every organ and cell in the body. The spleen and
stomach are a pair—the stomach receives the food we eat, grinds it into small
particles and warms them up; the spleen absorbs various nutrients from these
particles, converts them into what the body needs, and transports the right
amount of nutrition to wherever it is needed. Hence, the spleen and stomach
coordinate to work well.
A spleen-stomach imbalance will affect the absorption, conversion, and
distribution of nutrients, and the discharge of wastes and toxins. The internal
organs will lack the needed nourishments, their functionality will be gradually
weakened, and pathogenic substances such as phlegm and stagnant blood will
accumulate. This imbalance will ultimately create a decline in one’s health and
possible early death.
I often hear people ask vegetarians and those who eat less food, “Do you
have enough nutrition? Will you get sick?” If you go to the hospital and
conduct a survey, you will find that diseases such as diabetes, and hypertension,
and heart, liver, stomach, and kidney problems are associated with too much
food intake. Which of these diseases is caused by hunger? What about obesity?
Well, you know the answer.
Why are so many overweight? Why do so many of us suffer from spleen
and stomach problems? The reason is discordant spleen and stomach; we eat so
much that full digestion is not possible. Many people want to lose weight, but
they ignore the root cause and assume that they can get rid of extra fat like
cutting hair. How can this be successful?
Huang Di Nei Jing states that a healthy person possesses adequate vitality,
and the meridians are free of blockages. The vitality is converted from the
kidney energy and is essential to sustaining life. The kidney energy initially
comes from prenatal essence, and is sustained and enhanced by nutrition from
our food. If the spleen and stomach are damaged, there won’t be enough vital
energy. That is to say, both prenatal and postnatal influences determine
whether there is abundant vital energy for a healthy life. Compendium of
Materia Medica says, “The spleen nourishes all organs and cells in the body.
When a person’s spleen is healthy, the heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys will be
functioning normally, evil energies will go away, and he or she will have no
illnesses.”
Eating nutritious foods is not enough. When foods enter the body, the
spleen and stomach have to bear a huge workload. The stomach, which
functions well when it is 70% full, is often stuffed with food till 170% full. The
poor spleen and stomach have to overwork every day, even when we are asleep.
How can we not get sick in the long run?
Eat, eat, and eat! Many torture their spleen and stomach in the name of
“enjoying life” and “maintaining good health.” When the normal functioning of
the spleen and stomach is disrupted, the kidneys will be affected, and more
diseases will be induced.
II Eat less
Doctors, scientists, and health experts in the East and West have reached a
rare consensus on the amount of food a person is supposed to eat: It is better to
eat less. And it is even better to fast frequently.
Chinese medicine believes that eating less will reduce our energy
consumption that would be used to digest food if we eat much. People who eat
less have fewer desires and a peaceful mind, and will be healthy, energetic, and
live longer. This is consistent with what is advocated in Taoism, Buddhism,
and Confucianism. For millennia, Chinese people have personally experienced
and experimented with this concept.
Initially, some Western scientists experimented on mice. They divided the
mice into three groups, giving them the too much, moderate, and too little food
respectively. The result was that the mice that ate the most food had the most
illnesses and were most short-lived; by contrast, the group that ate the least
food was healthiest and lived the longest. Subsequent experiments on humans
produced similar results.
The extreme form of “eating less” is fasting. Mahatma Gandhi, Father of
India, was a lifelong vegetarian and often fasted. Whenever he got sick, he
would stop food intake, and the illness would be self-healed. It worked every
time.
There is a saying in Chinese medicine that “a person can live a long life in
spite of the illnesses he or she has.” Indeed, some people born in poor health
pay attention to dietary regulation and balance in life, and they are able to
enjoy longevity. Whereas many people who are physically strong exploit this
advantage, eat and drink too much, and then become very ill and die early.
American scientists once did an anatomical study on deceased people who
lived over 100 years old. Their findings proved the Chinese saying that many
of those who enjoyed longevity had cancer, heart disease, and various other
common diseases, but they maintained peace of mind and basically kept the
Yin-Yang balance.
III Become a vegetarian
Many people eat various meat products as their staple food. They eat little
or no rice, wheat, or other cereals. People love meat for nutrition or a variety of
other reasons, especially the pleasure of eating meat—similar to smoking,
drinking, and drug use. Many believe that eating meat is an indispensable part
of a happy life. But there are consequences.
Likewise, people become vegetarian for a variety of reasons: out of
compassion, for better health, or because of environmental concerns. A
vegetarian diet makes the meridians smoother, which is the best nourishment to
the body.
Our physiological structure shows that we are omnivorous, in other words,
we can be either vegetarians or meat eaters. However, from the perspective of
health preservation, vegetarian food is more suitable for us: (1) vegetarian food
is more digestible, (2) carnivorous animals are born to be meat eaters—they
have sharp teeth; their intestines are short so that toxins and wastes can be
rapidly excreted; much gastric acid is secreted to help digest meat. Whereas
herbivores have more even teeth; their intestines are long and winding, so when
they eat meat, the toxins and wastes cannot be excreted easily.
Our teeth and intestines are similar to those of the herbivores; and we
cannot produce so much gastric acid to digest meat. Eating meat thus increases
the workload of the spleen and stomach, and can easily lead to stomach
problems. Moreover, the meat from mass industrial production is very toxic.
Some girls have menarche too early partly because of the hormones in the meat
they eat. Chemical feeds make the animals grow fat and mature quickly, and
when people eat the meat, they become part of the vicious cycle. Early maturity
leads to early aging and death.
The hospital mirrors the causes and effects of illness. If you go for an
investigation there, you will find that many get sick because they eat too much,
and they eat meat. I met an old couple once that both suffered from diabetes,
hypertension, and hyperlipemia. They walked with much difficulty because of
leg pain, and they ate meat every day. I advised them to go vegetarian, or at
least eat less meat and more cereals, and practice PaidaLajin for three hours a
day. They did it for half a year, and their pains and diseases were gone. There
are numerous instances like this.
Once, while chatting with a friend, I said, “Herbivores have more strength
than carnivorous animals.”
He countered, “Aren’t the lions and tigers strong?”
I replied, “Indeed they are strong. But their strength is mostly explosive
force and cannot last long. That is why they hide for hours waiting for a perfect
opportunity and then dash to catch their prey. You see, almost all animals with
the best stamina are herbivores, such as cattle, horses, donkeys, elephants, etc.
Besides, carnivorous animals get their nutrition from herbivores, whose source
is still vegetarian.”
“Explosive force is also important for humans,” he said.
To that I explained, “For a sprinter or a weightlifter, explosive force is
indeed very important. But you are not an athlete. Isn’t your sex life more
important to you than sprinting and weight lifting? Which is more essential in
your sex life, stamina or explosive force?”
On hearing this, my friend burst into laughter. And his wife laughed even
harder.
So, why not try vegetarian food for your health, for our environment, out
of compassion, or for religious reasons? If you cannot be a vegan, it is good to
mainly eat vegetarian food. At least it is good for your own health.
How to fast?
Fasting is to go without food for some time. It enables the spleen and
stomach to rest more thoroughly. Since ancient times, people have developed
various methods of fasting. However, many are too complex and mysterious.
What we teach is very simple—You don’t need any special preparations. As
long as you feel that you are ready for it, you can fast for 3–7 days. When the
Heart, King of bodily organs, decides to fast, all the internal organs will
collaborate to make it happen. During the fasting period, you can drink warm
water or ginger and jujube tea. This is intermittent fasting. In strict fasting,
intake of water is also avoided.
In our 7-day workshop, there is a 3-day fasting period, and most people
don’t feel hungry. Many participants feel great at the end of the period and go
on to fast for a few more days. In addition, we spend eight hours a day doing
Paida, Lajin, meditation, Zen jogging, Wall Hitting, Waist Swirling, and Tie
Qiang Gong exercises. The energy boosted through these activities can burn up
many forms of waste and pathogenic substances, and convert them into what
the body needs. It is like garbage power generation. This is one reason why
people don’t feel hungry when fasting. PaidaLajin during the fasting period
helps to detoxify, slim down, self-heal diseases, and supply energy to the body.
Some people experience various healing reactions during the fasting
period, such as fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. These are good
reactions in the self-healing process. It is a better effect to eject vomit of
various colors. This is because the toxins and wastes in the lower part of the
body can be easily excreted through urine and stool, whereas the toxins and
wastes in the upper part of the body are hidden in the lungs, spleen, stomach,
esophagus, and respiratory tract. These cannot be discharged easily. Vomiting
during fasting and PaidaLajin is one of the best ways to get rid of them. To
relieve most healing reactions, Paida the inner elbows, Neiguan acupoint and
the entire inner side of each arm; to relieve stomach ache, Paida Zusanli
acupoint as well; to deal with more severe healing crises, Paida the chest and
the back as well.
If you do not want to fast, eating less can also help reduce the workload of
the spleen and the stomach. Some people like to urge their family and friends
to eat more. This is doing harm to their loved ones. Good food can induce more
diseases than toxic drugs.
Some people with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), brain ischemia, or
stomach problems have to eat something when they feel hungry. And they take
candies wherever they go. Such people, more so than others, should fast—they
not only have stomach problems, but heart disease as well, which they may not
be aware of. When they feel dizzy and hungry as a result of ischemia and
hypoglycemia, Paida their inner elbows and Neiguan acupoint, and the
symptoms will be relieved or gone very soon. Many stomach problems and
hypoglycemic syndromes that are not cured after prolonged treatment are
self-healed with PaidaLajin, because the key is to self-heal the heart disease
behind these superficial symptoms.
This is contrary to the popular belief that drinking plenty of water helps
detoxify. Well, Chinese medicine advocates this principle: drink water only
when you are thirsty, and drink it warm.
Some people drink much water every day even if they are not thirsty.
They assume that it will help detoxify and make them look better. And some
say it is too late if you drink water when you feel thirsty. Such knowledge may
sound plausible, but is very harmful.
It is true that a large proportion of the human body is water and that water
can help detoxify. However, the pre-condition is no blockages in meridians. Qi
travels in the body through meridians and sustains the circulation of both water
and blood. We drink water, and discharge urine and sweat. This shows that Qi
has treated the water in our body and its nature has been changed. In essence, it
is Qi (not water) that helps detoxification. It is Qi that takes water to all internal
organs and cells; and it is Qi that determines where the water flows, how much
water is retained in the blood and bodily fluids, and how much is excreted as
urine and sweet. Hence, where there are meridian blockages, Qi flow will be
blocked, and water flow in the body will be affected as well. A dead person has
no Qi, and water poured into the dead body does not flow, and will not be
changed into urine or sweat.
The process of turning water into urine consumes energy. PaidaLajin
boosts our energy level; and drinking less water saves energy. If you drink
gallons of water every day, in the long run you could suffer heart, kidney,
urinary bladder diseases, and malfunctioning of other organs.
Moreover, water is Yin in nature, and icy cold water is even more so.
Drinking much cool or cold water depletes the body’s Yang energy. When the
sun is rising in the morning, the Yang energy in the body is also rising. Do not
drink much water in the morning; in particular, do not drink cool or cold water,
because the Yang energy will be cooled down just when it is starting to rise.
According to Chinese medicine, the Heart has the properties of fire. Drinking a
lot of cool or cold water in the morning puts out the Heart fire. Many people
with this habit have heart disease but are unaware of it.
The biggest characteristic of heart disease is that it is hidden deep inside.
Normally it cannot be detected during a medical checkup unless you are dying.
Sometimes, when a person with a heart attack is sent to the hospital, the disease
will not be detected. Some people die in the hospital on the day of the checkup,
but the report indicates nothing wrong with the heart.
How do you diagnose whether a person with the habit of drinking cool
water has heart disease or not? Paida the inner elbows. If there is pain and Sha,
then he/she has heart disease. Pain is a more accurate indicator than Sha. The
more pain a person feels, the more severe the heart disease is. A person with a
healthy heart won’t feel much pain when being slapped on the inner elbows.
Why do some people often feel thirsty? Because they are sick; the
meridians are blocked. Normally, multiple meridians are blocked, and that is
why diseases are mostly complex. For instance, a person with heart disease
usually has disorders of other internal organs; almost all diabetic patients have
heart disease, and they are always thirsty. When a healthy person feels thirsty,
he/she drinks some water and the thirst is gone. But a patient can still feel
hungry and thirsty although she or he constantly eats food and drinks water.
This indicates that the meridians are blocked, the food and water are not
digested and converted into Qi, or the Qi is blocked and cannot arrive where it
is supposed to go. In a word, the cause is meridian blockage. The more blocked
the meridians are, the more a person tends to eat and drink, and the more
energy is thus consumed. This vicious cycle goes on and on, until the last day.
Some people suffer from edema: a swollen face, swollen eyes, legs and
feet, or even the whole body is swollen. This is due to drinking water when not
thirsty or drinking too much water, which leads to malfunctioning of the
kidneys and urinary bladder, which govern the waterways in the body. For a
person with deficient kidney energy, it’s best not to drink when not thirsty. To
relieve edema caused by too much water intake, stretch on a Lajin bench,
Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet) and all along the
four limbs. Then the edema will be gone.
A pregnant woman had systemic edema, but avoided medicine for the
sake of her baby. She slapped her limbs for a whole day, much Sha came out,
and the edema was all gone that day. Three days later, she gave birth to a
healthy baby.
Now I often go for a few days without drinking water, but I don’t feel
thirsty. There is enough water in the air and food to meet my physical needs. It
is more so in humid regions—you don’t have to drink much water, because the
skin can breathe. But if I dine out at a restaurant, I will feel very thirsty after
the meal. This is the result of monosodium glutamate, too much salt, and other
chemical seasonings in the food. So it is best to avoid them and eat natural
foods.
Drinking cold water or beverages before and during a meal, and between
meals depletes Yang energy, hurts the stomach, and results in digestive and
other health problems. A health expert promotes a dietary therapy that features
separation of food and water. This is based on the interactions of Yin-Yang
energies and Five Elements in Chinese medicine, i.e., avoid water (Yin in
nature), which can interfere with the work of Yang energy in the spleen and
stomach.
Moreover, when a person is swimming, the body absorbs much cold
dampness through the skin pores. It can induce pains and diseases. For a person
over 30, the Yang energy in the body is on the decline. Hence, it is OK to swim
occasionally; but if it becomes a regular or daily exercise, it is not good for
health in the long run. Some participants at our workshops have severe pains
but do not know the cause, and they have much Sha during Paida. Later we
find during our chat that they swim every day. Swimming in itself is not bad;
however, the water can be too cold.
If you feel weak, fatigued, and irritable, have insomnia, headaches, and
other discomforts, you may be found with no disease in a medical checkup at a
hospital of Western medicine. However, a doctor of Chinese medicine will say
that you are suffering from “Yin-Yang imbalance,” “spleen dampness,” “kidney
deficiency,” “excessive internal fire,” “heart-kidney imbalance,”
“spleen-stomach imbalance,” or other malfunctions of the meridian system.
There are blockages in the meridian system, but your health condition has not
yet deteriorated to organic diseases. For people with chronic diseases or in
sub-health condition, the most common diagnosis is “kidney deficiency” or “Qi
and blood deficiency.”
In fact, kidney deficiency is an evitable part of a person’s life cycle. As we
get older, the functions of the internal organs will weaken. The question is, how
can the weakening be slowed?
Many people assume that since the kidney energy comes from inborn
energy, they can do nothing about whether it is strong or weak. The good news
is that we can make efforts to boost the kidney energy, whether it has been
insufficient from birth, or is overused in our life. However, at the mention of
nourishing the kidneys, people will invariably think of eating nutritious foods,
and taking various drugs and supplements.
If drugs and supplements can boost the kidney energy, then doctors and
rich, powerful people should be the healthiest and live the longest. The reality
is, the kings in history mostly live a very short life. And more doctors than
average people get sick. The suicide rate of doctors is more than double that of
the general population. The suicide rate is particularly high among
psychologists. One reason is doctors are more reliant on drugs, and they are
more deeply affected by the toxic side effects of medication, because almost all
drugs do damage to the liver, spleen, stomach, and kidneys. Non-medical
persons cannot prescribe themselves drugs, and they are more reliant on
supplements. The various supplements are on the market like a fashion show:
narcotics, aphrodisiacs, hormone drugs, beauty products, nutritional
supplements, kidney-nourishing drugs, and more. I call it “the chaos of
boosting the kidney energy.”
The right way to boost kidney energy is to eat and exercise properly. The
questions are how to eat and exercise properly. Follow our advice on eating and
drinking, and practice the following exercises:
I PaidaLajin
PaidaLajin, particularly Lajin on a standard bench, is the first “secret”
therapy we recommend for boosting your energy.
PaidaLajin has helped many people improve and self-heal obesity,
diabetes, depression, hypertension, heart disease, cold limbs, color spots,
urinary problems, Alzheimer's disease, prostate disorders, gynecological
disorders, lower back and leg pain, and other disorders. All these symptoms
and diseases are associated with deficient kidney energy.
Many men are more interested in a “by-product” of PaidaLajin: boosting
the sexual function. Some ask me in a mysterious tone, “Why is PaidaLajin so
effective?”
“What effect?” I ask.
“Spontaneous morning erection. I experienced it in my 20s, and then it
stopped for decades. Now I can feel it every morning.”
How does PaidaLajin boost energy?
(1) Re-read Chapter II Theories of Self-Healing with PaidaLajin, and
you will find that the greatest benefit of PaidaLajin is that it boosts the Yang
energy. Clearing meridian blockages boosts a person’s Yang energy, thus their
vitality.
(2) When you stretch on a Lajin bench, normally the Urinary Bladder
meridian along the back of each leg hurts the most. Because it is paired with
the Kidney meridian, Lajin thus boosts the kidney energy and the Yang energy
of the entire body.
(3) Unlike medicine, which has a specific target, PaidaLajin simply
stimulates the self-healing mechanism to remove the excess and replenish the
deficiency. When the Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridians are cleared of
blockages, the waterways in the body can get rid of more wastes and dampness.
(4) Lajin in a reclining posture stimulates the Liver, Spleen, and Kidney
meridians along the inner side of each leg, which are associated with the body’s
urinary and reproductive functions. When the Spleen meridian is cleared of
blockages, it will supply the kidneys with more subtle energy; the Liver
meridian directly goes through the male genitals, and its erection and proper
functioning relies on sufficient Qi and blood supply.
(5) When practicing Lajin in a reclining posture, the arms are stretched
backward. This stimulates the Lung, Heart, Pericardium, Big and Small
Intestine meridians, and is very beneficial to the Qi and blood flow of the heart
and lungs. People with heart, lung, and respiratory problems tend to have
discounted sexual quality of life, and some even get breathless. Better heart and
lung functions contribute to enhanced kidney functions; and smooth Big and
Small Intestine meridians contributes to better digestion and consequently more
nourishment to the kidneys.
(6) Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands and feet), the entire
four limbs and the spine. It is a direct stimulation to the 14 main meridians of
the body. It can rapidly boost the Yang energy. Then Paida the head, chest,
belly, back and buttocks. This way, the entire body is covered in “carpet
bombing” Paida. All the meridians, acupoints, internal organs and cells are
stimulated, and the spleen and kidney energies are boosted rapidly.
(7) Paida on the head and face can boost the energy of the entire body, as
six Yang meridians go up to the head, and the health of the internal organs is
reflected on the face. We recommend Paida in the following sequence: top of
the head, left and right sides of the head, front and back sides of the head, neck,
eyes (eye sockets), cheeks, mouth and ears. The Stomach meridian goes
through the cheeks (Spleen meridian – mouth; Lung meridian – nose; Kidney
meridian – ears; Liver meridian – eyes; Gall Bladder meridian – left and right
sides of the head; Urinary Bladder meridian – front and back sides of the head
and the neck). While patting the eyes (eye sockets) and the cheeks, the nose is
also being stimulated. You can slap all these parts or choose to focus on certain
parts, for instance, Paida the ears more if you have ear and kidney problems. In
our workshop, each morning the participants spend over an hour patting all
these parts.
II Waist Swirling
Waist Swirling is easy to learn and produces quick results. You can
practice it anytime anywhere. And it is loved by men and women, old and
young: It boosts the kidney energy, and helps relieve urinary, digestive,
reproductive, and gynecological disorders, including cystitis, prostatitis, and
constipation. It can also help lose weight at the most obese parts of a person’s
body: the belly, waist, and buttocks.
How to do it?
(1) Stand with your feet apart the width of the shoulders, with your toes
clinging tightly to the ground. Slightly bend your torso forward.
(2) Bend your elbows at about 90 degrees, and place your hands below the
belly button, with your palms facing inward. Stretch open your fingers very
hard and make your thumbs and index fingers form an empty square. This way,
your shoulders won’t move easily during the exercise.
(3) With the spine at the center, make your buttocks and thus your waist
swirl to the left, back, right, and front sides. This finishes a complete
360-degree circle. While swirling the waist, your shoulders, elbows and hands
remain in their respective positions. Swirl 20 times, and then change to the
other direction and swirl another 20 times. Continue like this.
(4) During the exercise, open your mouth slightly to inhale and exhale
together with the nose.
Normally, after practicing it for a few minutes, you will feel the waist and
hips beginning to ache, and the spine getting warmer and warmer. Do it for
5–15 minutes a day, and your overall health will improve gradually.
Note:
(1) In the beginning, the most common mistake is that the fingers are not
stretched out hard. Then the shoulders are not fixed firmly and will swirl along
with the hips. Stretch fingers wide open and steady the shoulders, and only
swirl the waist and hips. This way, the kidney energy will be enhanced quickly.
(2) The toes need to cling tightly to the ground. This helps fix the body,
absorb energy from the Earth, and clear meridian blockages on the feet.
How to do it?
(1) Stand facing a wall. Set your feet apart the width of your shoulders.
Make the tip of your nose and the tips of your toes touch the wall.
(2) Squat slowly with the tip of your nose touching the wall. Squat all the
way down until the legs are bent and folded together. Hug the legs with your
arms.
(3) Stand up slowly with the tip of your nose touching the wall, until you
stand up straight.
(4) Repeat the same excise.
A man over 70 suffered from fatigue, tinnitus, prostatitis, kidney
deficiency, and persistent insomnia. He tried many treatments, but all to no
avail. Then he got to know Tie Qiang Gong and began to practice it every
morning and evening, starting with 3 times and gradually doing 81 times per
session. In less than two months, his hearing and prostate problems were gone,
and his sleep was much better.
It is even better effect to practice Tie Qiang Gong together with
PaidaLajin and Waist Swirling.
Note:
(1) Those with deficient kidney energy may lack the strength to do this
properly. Loss of balance and falling to the ground can result. A beginner can
move the feet away from the wall to keep balance, squat, and stand up slowly.
Make sure the spine is straight and the body is well balanced.
(2) There is no limit to how many times a person should practice the
exercise. You can begin with 9 times, and gradually add multiples of 9, to 18,
27, 36, etc.
IV Wall Hitting
Wall Hitting is a secret therapy derived from T’ai Chi. For many people,
T’ai Chi can be too difficult to learn. So we just practice the simple Wall
Hitting. And like Paida, persistent practice makes perfect health.
How to do it?
(1) Stand with your back facing a solid wall. Set your feet apart the width
of your shoulders. The distance between your feet and the wall is about 1.5
times the length of your own shoe.
(2) Stand steadily and slightly drop your buttocks. Cross your arms before
the chest, or let your arms and hands hang down naturally.
(3) Inhale deeply through your nostrils. Then let your body fall back onto
the wall naturally. The moment your back hits the wall, the back and internal
organs are stimulated, the entire body vibrates together, and you will exhale
through the mouth and nostrils with a natural sound, which is not the result of
vocal fold vibration. Do not attempt to hold your breath the moment you’re
hitting the wall. If the exercise is intensive, you can exhale through your
wide-open mouth.
(4) To avoid the shoulder blades hitting the wall first, you can stick out
your buttocks a bit, so that the entire back can hit on the wall in one go.
(5) Both feet should remain on the ground.
(6) If you know which meridian is blocked or which part of your body is
uncomfortable, focus on hitting that part against the wall more often, for
instance, the left or right shoulder blade, or the sacrum area at the upper middle
part of the buttocks. Stand further away from the wall if you want to hit harder.
Note:
(1) The wall used for Wall Hitting should be a strong load-bearing wall
with a flat, smooth surface. Otherwise you could injure yourself.
(2) Do not practice it if you are pregnant, or have traumatic injuries or
unhealed surgical wounds on the back.
(3) You can practice it 1–3 time(s) a day, 200–1,000 hits each time. Or
you can do it for 10 minutes up to two hours a session. Start with a few hits a
session, and gradually do it more times. You can gradually move further away
from the wall, and the effect will be greater.
(4) Similar to PaidaLajin, when practicing Wall Hitting, Waist Swirling
and Tie Qiang Gong exercises, you can feel such healing reactions as burping,
farting, headache, dizziness, neck pain, stomach ache, tail bone pain, etc. These
indicate that the lurking problems are surfacing and being resolved. Where
there are discomforts, there are meridian blockages. These are signs that the
self-healing mechanism is working to remove the blockages and maintain
overall health. Please do not interpret the reward of healing reactions as
punishment.
(5) You can watch videos of Wall Hitting, Waist Swirling, and Tie Qiang
Gong exercises in the video section of our website
http://www.paidalajin.com/en/home.
V Zen Jogging
Zen jogging is attentive and meditative jogging.
How to do it?
Make fists and hide the thumb of each hand beneath the other four fingers.
Empty your mind and lower your head. Do not look around or forward. Look at
your own feet and jog slowly. Breathe following the rhythm of jogging.
If you are gasping, you may be running too fast. Slow down. It is OK if
you are moving slower than walking. The key is to stay focused on your
jogging and breathing. Please do not walk; otherwise the whole-body vibration
and Paida on the feet will be lost.
Normally, do Zen jogging for 30–60 minutes and you will sweat a bit.
You will feel refreshed instead of tired.
Many people who do not like running fall in love with Zen jogging the
first time they try it.
It can rapidly boost positive energy, remove the excess, and replenish the
deficiency in the body. It is a very good exercise for people in poor health and
those who do not like sports. In the warm days of spring, summer, and fall, it is
best to practice barefoot jogging. It helps to massage the soles and absorb the
energy from the Earth.
VI Breathing Exercise
How to do it?
Inhale slowly and fully into your abdomen through the nostrils, hold
your breath for 3–50 seconds or longer, and exhale quickly through your
mouth. Do this 50–500 times a day. As you practice, you will be able to
hold your breath longer.
You can practice this breathing exercise while doing PaidaLajin, and
whenever possible.
It can help rapidly improve spleen and kidney energies. Do not be
scared if you experience insomnia, dizziness, running nose, pins and
needles and other healing crises. These are good recovery reactions. You
can relieve these “discomforts” by slapping on the inner elbows.
VII Meditation
Meditation quiets down and nourishes the Heart, heals physical,
mental, and psychological problems, and leads the way to enlightenment.
It is a more advanced self-healing method, and more difficult than
PaidaLajin. In our workshop, we do mediation twice a day, once in the
morning and once in the evening.
People tend to associate mediation with religion. In fact, meditation
has transcended religious barriers and is now widely accepted and
practiced around the world.
If you have your own method of meditation, continue to practice it;
if you don’t, you can try the simple meditation we teach at our workshop.
How to do it?
Sit comfortably. If you can, sit with one leg crossed or both legs
crossed. If you cannot, you can sit on a chair. Straighten your back and
close your eyes. Make the tip of your tongue reach behind the upper
palate. Inhale and exhale through your nostrils. Relax and empty your
mind. You can begin a silent dialogue, either with the sick parts and
organs, or with the entire body. You can say this to your body silently and
repeatedly, “I’m sorry; please forgive me; thank you; I love you.” The
self-healing effect will be amazing when it comes from the bottom of
your Heart. The effect is even better if you practice Vipassana meditation.
During meditation, you may feel burping, farting, shaking, nausea,
dizziness, chest tightness, spontaneous movements, energy and blood
flow, ups and downs in body temperature, sore, numb, swelling, and
painful sensations. These are good healing reactions. Do not complain or
feel depressed. Instead, you should stay positive and be grateful for your
body and nature’s nourishment.
PaidaLajin and meditation are complementary. PaidaLajin can help
meditators clear meridian blockages and thus make the Qi and blood flow
more smoothly. By practicing PaidaLajin, many meditators who could
not sit cross-legged can do it now; the sore, numb, swelling and painful
sensations are relieved, and they can meditate for a longer time.
Don’ts:
(1) Do not eat too much. It is healthful to stop eating when your
stomach is 50–70% full. You can also fast for 1–7 day(s) each month.
(2) Do not eat too much meat. Meat consumes much energy to be
digested. Eat more cereals.
(3) Do not stay up until after midnight. It is healthful to go to sleep
between 9:00–11:00 pm. Early to bed, and early to rise. It is even better
to take a short nap at noon.
(4) Do not drink too much alcohol. Drink moderately. Too much
drinking is harmful to the liver, spleen, and kidneys.
(5) Avoid smoking. Smoking is bad for your lungs, and nicotine
slows down the blood flow, a contributor to high blood lipid, blood
glucose, and blood pressure, and poor erectile function of the male sex
organ.
(6) Avoid too much sex. Similar to tasty food, having too much is
counterproductive.
Chapter VIII Why Do Some People Self-heal Faster
Than Others with PaidaLajin?
It is easy to recover when the body gets sick, but difficult to recover when
the Heart gets sick, and even more so when the soul gets sick. The body, Heart,
and soul are connected. When one of them gets hurt, all get hurt. The Heart is
the center among them. It can get sick, and it can also be healed. People who
think too much do not have peace in the Heart. They are always negative, get
sick often, and have difficulty recovering. Even when they recover, the Heart
easily gets sick again, leading to other illnesses, again and again, like a
ridiculous game we play. A chaotic Heart causes illnesses. So when we say
“healing,” we really mean healing the Heart. During PaidaLajin practice, we
need to overcome our fear, laziness, and skepticism. These are all illnesses of
the Heart that are difficult to heal. This is why the words for “fear,” “laziness,”
and “skepticism” in Chinese all have the “Heart” component embedded in
them.
When people get sick, they have been sick in the Heart already. “Disease,”
or 病 in Chinese, has a component 丙. 丙 means “fire” according to the Five
Elements Theory, which corresponds to the Heart, the center of our body. Our
ancestors have already explained this to us through the creation of Chinese
characters: all diseases are caused by sickness of the Heart, otherwise they
would not be called “diseases” or 病, they would be called 疾. 疾 has a
component 矢, which means “arrow,” or external damage, and is pronounced
with the sound of 急 (quick, urgent).
How does the Heart get sick? Why do most people get sick in the Heart
without even knowing it? The answer is simple. It is because the Heart has
gotten hurt the most often and severely, ever since we were little. Children
become unhappy when they cannot have the candy they want, cannot get good
grades in school, or when other children’s toys or clothes are better than theirs.
Then, when they grow up and fall in love, they will almost always experience
heart-break. This is why most people, when they are heart-broken, say, “My
heart is shattered.” And eventually, many of us experience all kinds of pressure
from work, marriage, children, mortgages, relationships, overloading our hearts
to the point where we can no longer cope, then our hearts get sick and along
will come all kinds of negative emotions such as fear, anger, hatred, anxiety,
tension, laziness, jealousy, frustration, and more. These are the exact opposites
of joy, bliss, contentment, and happiness. Negative emotions are similar to the
feeling of cold, which is a form of negative energy that can lead to tightness
and contraction of the Heart. Heart contraction is very damaging, and will lead
to contraction of all tendons. When the Heart, King of all organs, is in turmoil,
everyone—that is, every one of the other organs—will be in turmoil, and all
kinds of diseases will show up. When the Heart gets sick, the effect will trickle
down to cause sickness in different parts of the body. And when the body gets
sick, it will in turn lead to more sickness of the Heart. This vicious cycle goes
on and on, till life ends.
PaidaLajin heals the Heart through the body. But if we lack confidence,
determination, and perseverance, PaidaLajin will not work, or it will not result
in the desired effects. Self-healing will not happen when you do not have the
will to self-heal. Even when we recover, we will still get sick again. This is
why many people have discovered, even when they have recovered from their
physical illnesses, if they are still unhappy and still have things that they can’t
let go of, negative emotions will creep up whenever possible. This is the
healing crisis of the Heart.
Why do many people cry so uncontrollably at our workshops? This is not
because of physical pain, but due to the rhythm produced by PaidaLajin. The
rhythm goes straight to the Heart, untangling it. This is what we call 开心, or
“opening the Heart” which means “happiness” in Chinese. Mutual Paida and
experience sharing at the workshop allow people the chance to let go of
“secrets” that burdened their hearts, to “open” their hearts to people, and to be
happy. Our ability to self-heal has always existed, long before there were
doctors. But if we do not believe we have this ability, we can only seek external
help.
We are all born with the power to self-heal, the power from the universe.
Even medical treatments need to work through the self-healing power.
And it is safe to say that we get sick because of the existence of our
self-healing power. This is how the wisdom of the universe cautions us that our
thinking and behaviors are off track. If we are grateful for the kind reminder
and are willing to do PaidaLajin, we will self-heal faster. But unfortunately,
our feelings toward illness are often negative, and filled with hatred. Though
there are many reasons for diseases to exist, diseases are really self-made; we
really are the ones who have caused them. If we do not find the disease source
from within and are not remorseful, nor try our best to love ourselves and
simply wait for others to treat us, how can we get better? Diseases are
opportunities: whether to transcend or to corrupt, it all depends on us. All
diseases come from the Heart, and all cures also come from the Heart. Our
hearts have immense power. Our life, health, bliss, and even the power of the
universe are extensions of the power of our hearts. Being overly dependent on
others for treatments is an amputation of this power, an amputation of the most
powerful source of self-healing. This is the greatest source of illness today. As
the saying goes, “There is no bigger sorrow than the death of the Heart.”
Once we know the cause of illness, it becomes much easier to heal.
Simply put, diseases are not cured, but are self-healed, all of them are. Even
when you go see a doctor, when you are given medications, injections,
surgeries, or counseling sessions, these just facilitate your recovery and do not
cure you. You always get better through the work of your own self-healing
power. PaidaLajin is like a key that activates this self-healing power. It is your
business that you have caused your own disease. It is also your business when
you diagnose, heal, and prevent yourself from getting a disease. You can only
activate the power of self-healing; others can only assist you.
In fact, those who have experienced the best effects of PaidaLajin are
those who do it wholeheartedly. For example, consider 39-year-old
hypertensive patient Mr. Huang Changsheng from Malaysia, muscle atrophy
and rheumatoid arthritis patient Eva from Hong Kong, and diabetic patient Mr.
Yang Weijie from Macau. They all applied PaidaLajin the first instant after
learning about it, and all signed up for the workshop right away, and continued
to persist in PaidaLajin after the workshop. The power of the Heart was the
key to their successful self-healing: confidence, determination, and
perseverance.
Mr. Huang Changsheng, faced with humiliations from his family, stood
firm and was determined to “abuse” himself with PaidaLajin. The result was
that not only did Mr. Huang self-heal hypertension without any medicine, but
his wife and daughter eventually also self-healed various diseases with
PaidaLajin. Then his family turned their house into a PaidaLajin center. There
are always tens of people coming to his house for PaidaLajin. Many have
healed themselves of diabetes, hypertension, hemiplegia, and cancer.
When Eva had lost all hope, at the height of Yin came the rise of Yang:
Eva’s immense determination got activated, she did PaidaLajin for 10 hours a
day. This paid off and her muscle atrophy, rheumatoid arthritis, and other
diseases all self-healed. Later on, she slapped her father and helped him heal
terminal prostate cancer and other illnesses. She is now a Paida expert.
As for Mr. Yang Weijie, he had taken so many insulin shots that his
stomach area rotted. And other than diabetes, he also had diseases of the heart,
liver, and kidneys. After attending a PaidaLajin workshop, Mr. Yang stopped
all medicines and insulin injections, and his diabetes and other diseases were
completely cured, like a miracle. It’s been four years now. What does it mean
by “completely cured”? It means all his health data showed up normal
according to a Western medical checkup. Now he is a “professional slapper”
helping many people heal pains and diseases.
The core values of the workshop: Not only does it produce self-healing
effect for people, but more importantly, it elevates a person’s Heart, values, and
thinking, giving it positive energy, and allowing one to understand self-healing
from the Heart. PaidaLajin can be learned in minutes, but the philosophy of
self-healing—how to maneuver confidence, determination, endurance and
other positive energies; how to exercise our own judgment to diagnose and
self-heal; how to maintain good health, prevent illness, recover from diseases,
combat or even reverse aging—is the reason our workshops are so attractive.
For participants, participants’ families, coaches, doctors, scientists, and
government officials, the workshop is the best classroom, the best clinic, and
the best scientific research laboratory for learning and examining self-healing.
A self-healing coach needs to have participated in workshops over ten
times, or even several dozen times, to gradually become a qualified coach.
Coaches have succeeded in self-healing during and after a workshop, and then
decide to commit themselves to promoting self-healing with PaidaLajin. But
once committed, they all, without an exception, experience healing reactions of
the Heart. All kinds of illnesses lying dormant in their hearts emerge, and they
go through various stages of healing reactions of their body, Heart, and soul.
Every workshop has different cases, different energies, and different healing
reactions. Coaches and participants who have participated in many workshops
will have a different experience at each one, and transcend every time. For
those who have not attended a workshop but are eager to Paida for other
people, they will face fear, doubt, rejection, all kinds of healing reactions, and
challenging questions. It often impacts them negatively, driving down their
confidence, or leading to healing reactions being expressed in them.
Why do we call this a “workshop”? Because PaidaLajin can only be
learned through practice, not through discussions. Only through slapping and
being slapped, can one experience the psychological changes, and the
interaction between body, Heart, and soul. Only at workshops can you
experience and appreciate the magic of life through fasting, meditation, and
Zen jogging, and gradually elevate your health management to life
management. From this perspective, PaidaLajin serves as a good complement
to yoga, prayers, meditation, and other spiritual practices. Why do Muslims
invite me to teach PaidaLajin at mosques? It is because we do not talk about
religion. We only talk about self-healing. Muslims who were not able to pray
because of their back and knee pains, can kneel down and pray again after
PaidaLajin. Meditators who were not able to cross one leg can, after
PaidaLajin, cross both legs when meditating. Need we say more?
Many diseases are related to money. If you do not believe me, run a
mental evaluation of yourself, and think about how money has affected you.
Money is so mesmerizing because it is related to the Heart. This is why Jesus
said in the Bible, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
But this is not to say if you have less money, you will have more sickness, or
vice versa. The key point is your attitude toward money, which is dependent on
your Heart. With the wrong attitude, money will not bring treatment but cause
diseases; the more the money, the more the diseases. Many countries are having
great difficulties in medical reform. This is because they are on the wrong
money path.
As the saying goes, “There are no small acts of evil.” Accumulated small
acts of evil will lead to catastrophes. Disease is one example of catastrophe.
There is a reason for all diseases. Money is intertwined in the happenings of
disease, bad luck, good luck, and longevity. The fates of individuals, countries,
and all of humanity are made by us in such action-reaction cycles.
Many do not understand this: Why is it that some people are successful in
their careers, have a happy family, their children are well-established, and then
they still suddenly fall sick and die young? The answer is simple: they are in
pretense.
Many people do not live their lives honestly. They live for others,
protecting their “image” while suffering inside. It would be wondrous if they
did not get sick. Among these cases, those who pretend to have a perfect family
are the most miserable, and have the most common illnesses, such as
depression, gynecological disorders, and cancer. Loads of clinical data point to
the same conclusion. I am constantly in touch with these people and their
families day in and day out, online and offline, at talks and at workshops, so I
feel much empathy toward them.
If we were to lift the layers of vanity, pretense, illusions, and disease
names, we would discover that the cause of all diseases is the same. It is the
sickness of the Heart. The Heart is sick because of money, and more often
because of “image”; money and “image” are always interrelated. Many of us
love brand-name goods, which are goods of “image.”
Some are keen to promote PaidaLajin because they have benefited from it.
But during the process, as obstacles are met, the Heart will get sick
uncontrollably, going through all sorts of healing reactions and negative
emotions—fear, hatred, worries, laziness, jealousy, arrogance, skepticism,
among others. All these negative emotions will damage the Heart. For example,
some promote PaidaLajin unconditionally and with gratitude, so they feel
happy. But when others do a better job, they feel unhappy. This is a healing
reaction of the Heart caused by power and interest. Physical illness is healed,
and then comes the Heart illness. Healing reactions are really relapses of old
diseases. Our ancestors called Paida “surfacing the old diseases,” or “slapping
out the demons” because this is how demons and diseases lie deep inside
surface. Some do not care how many would benefit from the self-healing
method, but just care about whether his or her own power or interest would be
affected. This is why these self-healed people get sick again, and get dragged
down by negative emotions.
Some know the benefits of PaidaLajin, and introduce it to their families;
but because of pain, tiredness, and fear of criticism about being unscientific,
they become concerned that others will see Sha on their bodies and that their
looks will be affected. This is the negative effect of power. Being overly
concerned with one’s looks indicates that one does not genuinely believe in
self-healing, but only believe it half-heartedly. If you care about your looks
more than your health and morals, and only want to be pampered and not have
anything to do with pain and rough times, then it is only normal to become sick,
and normal to get sick again after recovery. This is the law of nature. So there
is a saying, “Nothing slips through God’s net, no matter how sparse the net is.”
Paida looks like self-torture to me. Why beat up on yourself and each
other like that?
Indeed, Paida and the colorful “bruises” can look scary to some
people. And the pain during Paida can take some getting used to.
Understandably so.
Many who practice Paida joke that they have never been beaten so
much, so hard in their life. Some of these people used to be doubters as
well. You see, we practice it voluntarily as a health-keeping and
self-healing exercise, not as a way to punish ourselves or others. Thus the
energy is positive, and the result is thorough healing. We enjoy the pain
and rhythm of Paida, we love to get out the “bruises” (cold, dampness,
and toxic waste trapped in the body), and we appreciate how it helps us
take health into our own hands. For many of us, Paida has become a part
of our lives.
If you are open to the idea of self-healing with Paida, research it and
try it yourself. The colorful “bruises” will come up and fade away, and
the pain will become less and less as we continue to Paida. And after
several rounds of Paida all over the body, you will become a much
healthier person.
Yes. You can watch videos of Paida, Lajin, Wall Hitting, Waist
Swirling, Tie Qiang Gong, documentaries, testimonials, and interviews at
the video section of our English website: http://www.paidalajin.com/en/home. You
can also search for Paida, Lajin, and PaidaLajin on YouTube. DVD
tutorials with Chinese and English subtitles are available at our Chinese
online store.
You can buy one from us or from one of our worldwide contacts
(listed at the Service section of our English website). Or, you can make
your own Lajin bench. A simple way is to attach a long pole to your bed,
desk or coffee table. This is only a makeshift bench, though. It’s best to
practice Lajin on a standard bench. The following dimensions are for
your reference, and you can make adjustments according to the needs,
height, and weight of the user(s): bench length 47 in, bench width 22 in,
bench height 22 in, pole length 67 in, pole width 3 in, pole thickness 1.2
in. For better effect, use sandbags or other weights on the legs when
stretching on the bench.
Yes. A lot of people have removed acne pimples and dark spots this
way.
It may appear that acne is a result of too much internal fire
(inflammation). In fact, it is caused by too much cold in the body that
cannot release due to meridian blockages.
You can slap on the inner elbows, Dazhui acupoint, chest, back,
along the spine and the back of the legs where there are Urinary Bladder
meridans. For better effect, do Lajin on a bench as well. Moreover, avoid
drinking cold water and beverages, eat less meat, fruits, and raw
vegetables, which are cold in nature.
Yes. The belly is linked to the internal organs. And there are
important acupoints at and around the belly button. Slapping the entire
belly helps to relieve such chronic diseases as diabetes, hypertension,
prostate disorders, gynecological disorders, heart, liver, kidney, stomach
and intestinal problems, etc. And it is a natural way to lose weight.
For a pregnant woman, please do not slap on the belly. It is OK to
Paida other body parts, though.
Yes. Many people sit a lot and the buttocks bear much of the body
weight. A lot of wastes and toxins are accumulated there. The Urinary
Bladder meridan (one of the biggest detoxification channels in the body),
Gall Bladder meridan, and other important meridians go through the
buttocks. Meridan blockages in this region can lead to obesity, diabetes,
hypertension, heart disease, lower back pain, prostate disorders,
gynecological disorders, stomach, or intestinal and reproductive problems.
When you slap on the hips, much toxic waste can be expelled in the form
of colorful Sha.
Yes. Many people have protruding veins for years or even decades.
It should be noted that varicose veins is not a minor problem to be
neglected. It affects not only the areas with varicose veins, but also blood
flow back to the heart, and thus blood supply all over the body and
normal functioning of the heart.
It’s best to first Paida the universal regions (elbows, knees, hands
and feet) to enable better energy and blood flow. Then Paida directly at
and around the areas with varicose veins. Start with soft Paida and
gradually slap harder. Normally, the varicose veins can stand heavy
Paida. And there is no need to panic even if it bleeds a little. The
protruding veins will flatten after heavy Paida for 30–60 minutes or even
longer. In severe cases, you will need to Paida more rounds before the
condition improves notably.
I have had bad breath for years, and it seems to be getting worse.
Can I get rid of it by practicing PaidaLajin?
How come I can smell odors from the body during Paida?
After slapping for 40 minutes, there are cracks, white powder, and
bluish purple colors on my hands. Can I wash my hands now?
Should I continue slapping tomorrow, or wait until they have faded?
These healing reactions are good detox. If the cracks on your hands
are large, it’s best not to wash them now. You can use warm water to
wash your hands two hours after Paida. You can continue slapping. It is
OK to Paida even if it bleeds a bit. With persistent Paida, the colors and
powder will fade away, and the cracks will heal naturally. The skin will
gradually become smooth and delicate. All our coaches and many Paida
enthusiasts have repeatedly experienced it, and their skin and overall
health are getting better and better.
When you use your hands to slap others, your hands are being
slapped as well. It is a real win-win exercise. Blood blisters on the palms
are healing reactions, indicating blockages in the Heart and Pericardium
meridians, and problems with the heart. It also shows that the self-healing
mechanism is working to remove the blockages. Continue to slap; the
blisters will break, blood and fluid will seep out, and the wound and heart
disease will heal naturally.
Paida does produce sounds, sometimes too loud and annoying for
people who do not yet know or appreciate it. One way is to Paida when
they are not there. You can find a proper time and place to Paida alone or
with other Paida friends. Or you can use fists and/or tools to reduce the
“noise” of Paida, which we call “music.” When the atmosphere is right
and they are ready to listen, explain to them the benefits of Paida and
invite them to join you. Respect their choice. It can take time for some to
accept Paida. Many people who initially have doubts and fear about (the
pain of) Paida have come to enjoy and benefit from it.
Why do I feel nausea at the smell of ginger and jujube tea, and keep
burping while drinking it?
This is because there is too much cold in your body. As the tea
boosts Yang energy, it is like fire melting ice. When you drink the tea, the
positive and negative energies are engaged in a tug-of-war fight. Burping
is a good healing reaction. Cold and foul air is being expelled from the
body through the burps. And the body’s self-healing mechanism is
regulating your health. Continue PaidaLajin, your Yang energy will rise
and the symptoms will be relieved. Then you will come to appreciate the
smell, taste, and function of the tea.
Can I drink ginger and jujube tea in the morning when I have an
empty stomach? Can I drink it in all seasons of the year?
Yes. You can drink the tea at any time of a day, and in any season of
the year. It’s best to practice PaidaLajin and drink the tea.
Nowadays, most people have too much cold in the body. You can
make it a regular drink. It is better to drink it in the daytime. It is OK to
drink some in the night, but don’t drink too much because it could affect
your sleep.
Yes. You can make rice, wheat, or other cereals (normally neutral in
nature) your staple food. For a weak person with much cold in the body,
avoid cold air, food, and drinks, and avoid eating too many fruits and raw
vegetables. It can aggravate the condition and induce various discomforts.
Although nutrient-rich, most fruits and vegetables are quite cold (thus not
neutral) in nature.
