PROCEDURE
Dated:
09.01.2018

For detailed methods relating to these applications, refer to the appropriate manuals and procedures.
All modeled items shall be named in accordance w ith the PDMS/Cad works naming convention . The
PDMS/Cad works administrator will receive the 3D model in CD form or via Internet from Client. An
agreement with the Client/Designers should be made prior to incorporating the administrative and
database settings of the model. Engineering Office shall produce Piping drawings, piping fabrication
isometrics & spool drawings using the current PDMS/Cad works, Spoolgen software. Navis work
software will be used for model review and snap shots for erection support.

The following shall be considered in the preparation of piping drawings:

a. Check the database according to standards.

b. Check for clashes. (IMCC scope only)
0 c. Check data consistencies of the 3D model. (IMCC Scope only)
d. Check clearance between items as per contract requirements. (IMCC scope only)
e. Use 3D model to generate fabrication isometrics for placement of field weld m client
isometrics.

4.2. Engineering Input

The Project or Estimation department is responsible in line with client/Design contractor to provide
construction information in the form of:-

• 3D Design Model/IDF files/2D Design Drawings

• Material Take-Off
• Technical Specifications
• Site Instruction Notices
• Responses to Engineering Queries
• Written Instructions by E-mai l

Information that is conflicting, ambiguous or incomplete is queried as per section 4.3

4.3. Incoming 3D Model/ Drawings/Specifications/IDF files and Registers

All initial information and subsequent revisions to client design details or other Contractors drawings
shall be received by the Engineering Manager/Section Head via documentation team, who shall
ensure proper distribution according to the Department Working Instructions .

The Documentation team is responsible for all documents in accordance with the Dept. Working
Instructions .

The Draftsmen via their Team Leaders/Supervisors shall raise Engineering Queries if and when
required to reso lve any ambiguities or to seek missing information from Clients/Design Contractors
models, drawings and specifications. Client format of this document should be followed . Refer
attached Site Technical Query Form -Attachment- ENG-0 II

4.4. Engineering Drawing Output

The output will be in the form of
GA Drawings
Isometrics
Shop drawings
Nesting Plans
PML
Weld log sheet
PMIS

4.5. Drawing Numbering System

() 4.5.1. GA drawing numbering:
In DDMS, GA drawing number consists of the design no. and a suffix which defines
drawings type as shown below:

Example:
Design drawing no.-S ..... . Structural
Design drawing no.-P ..... . Piping
Design drawing no.-M ..... Mechanical
Design drawing no.-E ...... Electrical

4.5.2. Shop drawing numbering:

For shop drawings a drawing numbering system shall be set-up to facilitate unique
identification of all fabrication drawings. It is recommended to show the project number as
part of the drawing number.
In structural drawing abbreviation of the particular assembly/sub-assembly related to the
main structure is also to be included as part of drawing number.

(, ~ )· Example:
Design drawing no.-D, Sub-assembly no.-S

A piece marking system shall be set-up to facilitate unique identification of all items related
to fabrication and erection. Shop drawing number for tht: first generated drawing consists of
the design drawing number and digit 3000 for Structural and 5000 for Piping.

Example:
Structural Design drawing no .-3000 (for the first created sheet)
Structural Design drawing no.-300 I (for the second created sheet and so on ... )
Weld map drawing no.-2000 (for the first created sheet)
Weld map drawing no.-2001 (for the second created sheet), and so on.

4.5.3. PML's numbering:

In PMIS data base, the PML is generated only from GA and will contain all the re lated
details. The PML numbering shows the design drawing no. and the suffix PML.
Example:
Design drawing no.-PML
Refer Attachment-ENG-004
·(··~
. I
4.5.4. Nesting numbering:
Job no.-XX-YY-ZZ
XX indicate type of nesting (i.e. PL for Plates /HEB for beams/ UPN for channel ... etc)
YY indicate sizes
ZZ indicate sequence no

4.5.5. Revision numbering:

For client drawing GA revisions the number is composed of two parts: The first part reflects
client revision and the second part reflects IMCC revision. For shop drawing, PML and
nesting all revisions begin with digit 0.

4.6. Drawing Preparation-General

Upon receipt of AFC drawings and other documents, the Document Controller shall prepare the
Project's Drawing Register in DDMS. The Team Leader receives all documents and reviews the
drawings as logged in the register.

Fabrication Drawings shall be prepared by the Draftsmen on international 'A' series size sheets in
i • AutoCAD software.
'- ..)
For purchases on behalf of clients such as equipments, arrangements shall be made in conjunction
with Client to approve drawings where necessary .

4.6.1. Dr·awing Preparation-Additional for Structural Discipline

X-Steel 3D Model snap shall be presented for complex structure drawing with position
number to identify each part. Refer Attachment- ENG-005 .

Drawing description is to be included in particular drawing with respective assembly/sub-

assembly details.

Pipe support/E&I support locations shall be incorporated in structural drawings.
